Accidental Love [Chapter 17]

Chapter 17
He smiled at Stacie while he thought in his head, why the hell did I ask her out if I wanted her to say no?!
He stared down at his notebook, playing with the spirals. It’s because I like her… no, he thought, no use lying to myself. It’s because I didn’t want to crush her heart, he realized and with a sinking feeling he added, and because I want to make Sophie jealous. He felt horrible, like a monster.
And guys do this to girls regularly? He thought, amused and sad.
He felt something warm over his hand. He looked up and saw Stacie’s hand on his, gazing intently at him.
“You regret asking me, right?” She said, hurt.
“No!” Logan lied, “No, I’m just thinking about something else.” He put on another smile and squeezed her hand lightly. She brightened up and turned around to pay attention to the lecture.
Yeah… thinking about Sophie, he thought.
Sophie
As the last bell rang, Sophie jumped up from her seat, glad. Reality smacked her in the face as she realized she had volleyball practice.
Ugh, I’m going to be playing with her, she thought annoyed; she was referring to Stacie.
She gathered up her books and ran outside to find Austin waiting there. She gave Austin a peck on his lips.
“Got to run, volleyball practice.” She said apologetically. “Aw…” Austin said disappointedly, “I was looking forward to walking you home.” Austin pouted.
“I’m sorry.” She replied, flinging her arms around Austin’s neck. “Alright,” He said as he grinned before giving her a light kiss. “Go on now, and show Stacie what she’s up against.”
Sophie started walking backwards as she yelled, “Definitely.”
As she turned back around to walk the proper way she muttered,
“Oh, I’ll definitely show her.”
Volleyball
Sophie started removing her shirt and putting on her uniform, when she heard singing. Ugh, she thought, Stacie.
All of the lockers were taken, because the upperclassmen were playing soccer in the field outside. The only empty locker was next to Sophie.
Stacie turned the corner and grimaced as she saw Sophie standing there. She continued singing and made her way down there, purposely ignoring her.
Sophie stayed silent for 2 minutes until she had enough.
“Why are you trying to sing when you obviously can’t?” She snapped, “Don’t break the windows, please.”
Stacie smirked, and continued singing to annoy the hell out of her. All of a sudden, Anna, Sophie’s friend, came running over breathlessly and asked, “Stacie! Is it true?”
Stacie nodded, blushing. “What is?” Sophie demanded.
“None of your business,” Stacie glared back.
“Oh, it’ll be around the school by tomorrow so no point keeping it from her,” Anna told Stacie.
She turned to Sophie and said,
“Stacie’s going out with Logan.”
