Accidental Love [Chapter 16]

Chapter 16
[[Alright, alright, terribly sorry about the last chapter, I felt horrible for making it that short. So this one will be long. And dramatic. Enjoy, <3]]
It is stupid to be fighting over her heart, if she likes me, then she likes me. If she doesn’t, well then… I’m the one who’ll deal with it, Logan thought as he began fidgeting with the straps of his book bag the next day at school. He turned around the corner and froze immediately as he saw Sophie alone for the first time since she has been going out with Austin.
I’m going to talk to her, he thought defiantly as he marched up to her.
She was stacking up books in her locker and making it appear clean.
“Hi.” Logan said softly.
Sophie looked up as her eyes began to darken. “Bye.” She said sarcastically. She turned around to walk away but Logan caught her arm.
“Sophie, please, I don’t want to fight anymore…” He struggled to say. Sophie just stared at him.
“I know I’ve been acting like a jerk lately, I’m still trying to get used to the idea of my… my best friend going out with … Austin,” Logan said weakly, “But more than ever, I just want you back in my life. I’m sorry.”
Sophie’s face began to soften. “It’s okay…” She whispered, “But you have no idea… no idea how much you hurt me… just because I am going out with Austin doesn’t mean I don’t have more room in my heart for you. You’ve ALWAYS been there for me, I’m not and I wasn’t going to kick you out so easily.”
Logan’s heart came to life as she said those words. He smiled as he tucked a stand of hair behind her ear. Sophie blushed furiously but covered it up by shoving books mercilessly into the locker.
Logan took a deep breath. “Can’t I get a hug?” He joked, but really meant it.
Sophie looked up at him as if he had six heads. Logan’s eyes dropped to the floor in embarrassment. He mentally kicked himself for asking that.
“Never mind,” He said quickly. Sophie began to laugh which caused him to turn red.
“Of course I’ll give you a hug.” She chuckled.
Sophie wrapped her arms around his torso and hugged his body against hers. She buried her face in his chest. Logan wrapped his arms around her back and breathed into her hair. Strawberry, he thought smiling, typical Sophie. Oh god I missed her.
“Hi Sophie.” They heard a voice interrupt them.
They parted to see Austin staring coldly at Logan.
“I see you guys have mended things.” He added still glaring at Logan.
“Yeah, we have, if you care.” Logan said bitterly.
“You two, shut up,” Sophie said as she rolled her eyes. She stood on her toes and planted a kiss on Austin’s cheek. He brightened up immediately.
“Logan… don’t you have somewhere to be…? With…” Sophie hesitated, “With Stacie?”
Austin snickered. Logan felt the urge to punch him right in his jaw but he fought it.
He sucked in a deep breath of air as he said, “We aren’t exactly on speaking terms.”
Austin muttered, “I wonder why.” Sophie and Logan both ignored him.
“Really?” Sophie asked concerned, even though she felt a shot of happiness rush through her head.
Logan nodded.
“It’ll get better,” She said sympathetically even though she didn’t want it to.
“We better get going, sweets.” Austin said, checking the clock.
“Oh yeah! We have 1st period all the way on the other side of the building,” She exclaimed, “I’ll talk to you later.”
She reached out and gave Logan a quick hug.
As Logan watched her walk away from him, he felt his arms longing for something.
Her, he thought as he began walking in the opposite direction.
Logan and Stacie
Logan walked into History class just as the bell rung. He glanced around for Stacie and an empty seat and found them both right next to each other. He made his way over there and sat down.
“Hi Stacie,” He said brightly, still happy Sophie was friends with him again.
“Hey,” She said trying to sound enthusiastic, “I’m sorry about yesterday… I over-reacted.”
“Oh it’s okay.” Logan said with a smile.
“It’s just… it’s just that I really like you, Logan.” She said sounding frustrated.
Logan stared at her as he remembered what Austin had told him in gym the other day: “Don’t you enjoy playing with Stacie’s feelings just because you can’t have Sophie?”
“I like you too, Stacie,” He replied. I do like her… right?
A huge grin was on Stacie’s face. If I can’t have Sophie, Stacie is the next best thing. Plus, I can’t crush her heart, he thought.
As the teacher began to speak and begin the lecture, he wrote on a piece of paper,
“Be my girlfriend?”
He passed it over to her and he waited anxiously for her reaction. Please say no, please say no, he chanted. He didn’t want this to be a fake relationship.
He didn’t have to wait long because soon after she had read the note rapidly, she began to smile and scribble fast.
She handed the paper back and Logan unfolded it.
His heart sank as he read,
“YES!”
