Accidental Love [Chapter 14]

Chapter 14
Austin
Austin thought back to what happened in the gym. He felt his face get hot when he remembered what Logan did. The nerve of him, he thought.
“Ouch!” Sophie said out annoyed, “Austin, you’re hurting me.”
Austin looked down at her and saw her tugging at his hand which was wrapped around her waist.
“Oops,” He said sheepishly as he loosened his grip.
“It’s okay,” She said smiling. They entered 7th period class together. Lexi glared at Sophie.
Austin pulled Sophie in for a kiss just before the teacher came walking in.
Sophie sat in the seat in front of him and Austin gazed at her back wondering how he got so lucky.
I love her so much; Logan isn’t ever going to get a chance with her because I’m never going to break up with her. Unless… she breaks up with ME.
He frowned. Sophie turned around and saw him frowning. She slid him a note.
‘What’s wrong?’
He wrote, ‘Oh nothing… you wouldn’t break up with me right?’
Sophie read this and was confused where that question came from. She wrote back, ‘No… why the sudden question?”
Austin sighed as he realized it was better to tell her the truth. ‘Logan and I had a bit of... a confrontation you can call it.’ He didn’t tell her Logan had feelings for her just in case she would dump him.
He saw Sophie stiffen in front of him. He saw her scribble furiously.
‘What happened??’
He took his time as he wondered how to tell her this without giving away the real meaning.
‘He just told me not to hurt you or make you cry.’
Sophie’s figure crumpled in her seat. She wrote back ‘I feel so guilty, I yelled at him earlier.’
Austin was confused, he wrote quickly, ‘Why?’
‘I told him to stay away from Stacie. She isn’t nice and I don’t want my best friend…., I suppose you can call him ex-best friend now, to get hurt.’
Austin wrote back, ‘What did he say?’
‘Some pretty mean things’ was what he received.
‘I’m going to hurt him, I swear. I’m so sorry, Sophie. You don’t need him.’
He wrote back hurriedly. What a fucking hypocrite he thought, he tells ME not to hurt her and then he does the same thing?
‘Ha. Whatever. I have you. Now I’m going to pay attention to the lecture because she’s shooting looks at us. I love you.’ She wrote back for the last time.
Austin smiled and put away the note. He sighed, content that she loved him and she wouldn’t break up with him.
However, he couldn’t shake the feeling that the reason she snapped was more than just not liking Stacie.
Class ended and they walked out. Sophie needed to go to her locker and she forgot Logan’s locker was right next to hers.
Sophie slid her hand into Austin’s and laced it through. He looked down at her and smiled. They turned the corner and were greeted with the sight of Logan and Stacie.
Austin clenched his teeth as he saw Logan. Sophie started turning the dial on her lock and grew red as she thought how close Logan’s body was to hers.
Austin slid his arms around Sophie’s waist and murmured into her hair, “I can get those books for you if you don’t want to be here right now.”
Sophie shivered and whispered, “No, its okay. I can manage.”
Austin nodded as he switched his gaze to Logan and Stacie.
Stacie was holding his hand which he had noticed was scarred and she was whispering something to him.
Logan reached up and placed his hand on her cheek and said something to her which made Stacie grin.
Sophie turned around and saw the whole thing. Her bottom lip quivered as she managed to say,
“Austin, let’s go.”
“Okay.” He replied, leaning down to give her a peck on her lips.
Logan turned around to look at Sophie one last time and saw her kissing Austin. He slammed his locker shut which snapped them out of their moment.
“Come on Stacie,” Logan said through gritted teeth.
He walked away with Stacie as Sophie and Austin stared after them. “What a jerk,” Austin muttered softly.
Austin switched his gaze back to Sophie who was in a trance.
“Let’s go,” He said soothingly as he began to led her away.
