Accidental Love [Chapter 12]

Chapter 12
The next day at school, things were normal. Of course until 3rd period hit.
Sophie was walking the class hurriedly. She was cleaning up this soda spill she had made on herself earlier.
Not looking where she was going, she bumped in to someone. Ironic enough, it was Stacie.
“Watch where you’re going, Sherlock.” Stacie smirked.
“I know, I’m sorry,” Sophie said innocently, “I didn’t mean to walk into TRASH.”
“Trash huh?” Stacie said arrogantly. She adjusted the books in her hands.
Glaring at Sophie straight in her eyes she added, “I’m sure your ex could say differently considering last night.” She made it sound as if they had done so much more than cuddling.
Sophie reddened and grew angry. She didn’t say anything because she was too busy wondering.
Did they really…? Would Logan ever…?
Stacie took this as a victory and ended their conversation by saying,
“See you around, slut.”
Sophie finally recovered and added angrily, “You shouldn’t be one to talk.”
Stacie just let out a loud chuckle and continued walking down the hall.
Sophie fumed and that’s when she saw Logan turn the corner.
He glanced at her, rolled his eyes, and started turning the dial on his combination lock.
Sophie stormed up to his locker.
“What the fuck are you doing?” She demanded.
Logan stared at her blankly.
“What?” He replied.
“Don’t play it off.” She said sarcastically.
Logan got pissed. “Why do you even fucking care anymore what I do? Just go be happy with Austin, okay?”
Sophie stared at him in disbelief. Hot tears gathered in her eyes.
“I will. I just don’t want you to get hurt. Stacie isn’t nice.”
“Oh please, you’re just judging her because you’re rivals in volleyball? How pathetic can you get? Stop being so judgmental and stop worrying about me. You know, I really thought you were different. You were yelling at me before because I don’t like Austin when I didn’t even know him, and now you’re being a fucking hypocrite? Nice, Sophie, he’s already made some changes on you.” Logan said, disgusted.
You never have cared about me in the first place, he thought bitterly.
Sophie was taken back and so hurt. The tears started falling ever so slowly but she brushed them aside.
Logan felt so guilty for making her cry. I’m such an idiot, her tears shouldn’t fall, I hate myself.
Logan’s face softened as he reached out to touch her. “Sophie…” He whispered soothingly.
“Don’t.” She said threateningly, choking on sobs, “Don’t come near me. I don’t know you anymore. I don’t want to hear it.”
She was now backing away.
She put on a fake smile and said, “I may not be different from other girls, but at least I don’t forget my true self. What have you become?”
She turned around and started walking from where she came from.
Logan stared after her, refusing to believe what just happened.
He turned around and walked away, but what he couldn’t walk away from was her words that kept echoing his mind: What have you become?
Logan’s next period class was Phys. Ed. He quickly changed into his gym uniform and walked out.
He leaned on the gym wall with his eyes shut.
The gym teacher was droning on and on.
“You guys are going to do drills today brushing up on your basketball skills. Warm-Up will be one-on-one game with the partner I assign you.”
Logan sighed as he prayed it wouldn’t be Austin. Luck wasn’t on his side apparently because the next thing that came out of the teacher’s mouth was,
“Logan, you’re paired up with Austin.”
Their eyes met with heat and anger.
Logan knew it wouldn’t be just any game.
