Akasha was in no rush waiting for Jezikal. They were both to meet at the well. But were was he? She feared the worst. What had happened? It had been 2 hours. A figure emerges from the darkness. She trembled in fear as it approached. It got closer faster than the desert wind. Jezikal had finally reached her. He grasped her gentle arm. His love;  their forbidden love. You see the only way to love someone is by approval from the eldest clan sister. Only Aaliyah had the power to wed these two and Aaliyah wasn’t going to marry her brother to her rival. No, she had other plans for Jezikal. He was to marry Silvana, the clans lead dancer; she was second in command to Aaliyah, as well as Aaliyah trusted sister. But the love between Akasha and Jezikal was strong no Persian law could separate them.

Aaliyah was on her way to the scribe’s house. She was strong but began feeling nervous. Whom was she dealing with? Would he tarnish her body? What was he like? All these questions, no answers. She was very scared. She was almost at his house when a child approached her. Pale as a ghost unlike the normal golden children typically seen. She was covered in jewelry of sapphire and gold. No child had ever been like this before. The child began to tell Aaliyah of the danger that would befall if she did not endure the test that was to come. She introduced herself as Raquel. Aaliyah thought, Raquel? No one had a daughter with that name; as soon as she finished thinking to herself the child disappeared. Aaliyah wasted no time going to her destination, the house of the scribe.

The scribe was waiting for her. He told her to drink some wine and waited.  The scribe was the only way to get to the king so what happened now wouldn’t be in vain. He came back with a dancer’s outfit in one hand and a sword in the other. He told her to undress and get into the dancers outfit. She did what he said but with great pain, never had she been forced by the sword to do something. When she would take too long, he gently pressed the sword on her skin to frighten her. She was done, he then ordered her to dance. She had never danced without her sisters. It was a rule, how she could break it. She paused for a moment and began with tears in her eyes; she knew were this would lead. The scribe watched as he slowly approached her. He began to undress her. She held her fear inside; never had a man defiled her like this. But she kept silent. He carried her to his bed and told her it would be the only way to the king and again she said nothing. He enjoyed her silence. He started slow but then like a rabid dog began to hurt her. She cried in pain but he didn’t care if she yelled to stop. But he couldn’t hear her; he was deaf from the moment. He was done. She ran out naked into the night to meet her sisters and hide from the night. The Aaliyah of always was changed forever. No more trust to men.

Silvana saw Aaliyah, What happened? she thought... never had Aaliyah been like this. Quiet, sad, alone. She approached Aaliyah and tried to comfort her. She asked her what was wrong and Aaliyah moved her hand to her waist. Silvana knew instantly what happened. She was disgusted. When her sisters and brothers of the clan find the man who did it would pay. Pay with his life.
