The Love Dies
|
Author's Introduction:
I’ve often heard that the best writing comes from authors when at a delirious state. Crazed by something in their life that consumes them and has taken over the will to think for themselves. The pens take over their brains until they write a masterpiece and usually tragically die moments after typing "the end". It’s the story of the story sometimes that makes it so interesting, so gripping, so thrilling and fantastic. Well my friends I believe I have reached a point of delirium. I am no author mind you this, but never a better time to start, as the facts have led my insanity driven mind to believe. So with no further delay, I call this tale, "The Love Dies".
The Love Dies:
Eliza sat in her chair every morning, noon and night. She looked sad and helpless, almost as if she was a child again. The child she grew up as had no mother and little friends but became a bitter yet shockingly wealthy woman. The doctors told her fiancé Henry that it was called a "vegetative state" and there was nothing that could be done. Thus Henry did the only thing he could, he sat in a similar chair right next to her everyday. He has the same sad and helpless look Eliza did. For he was the reason she was this way, and only he knew the true secrets of her "accident" that his conscience held unwillingly.

It was earlier that year in mid spring, and it was a lovely day all around. The birds sung Eliza out of bed, as she awoke with a dazzling and well-rested smile. She went through her regular morning routine. First she brushed her hair that fell just perfectly over her shoulders into tiny ringlets. She then brushed her teeth and put some makeup and a one of her favourite silk tea dresses on. Though she went about getting ready normally, this was no normal day. It was the day that Henry would propose to Eliza. As much as she would act surprised, she was no fool. Eliza had known for weeks what was to come, and when she smelt the fresh pancakes as she trailed down the stairs, she became excited. She was more then luminous and perfect when she walked into the dining room to greet Henry with a generously sized hug. "I made you breakfast love" he whispered.
" Why else would I be up if not for the smell of your delicious pancakes dear Henry," Eliza said as she took a seat next to him at the table. They enjoyed their breakfast together and had pleasant conversations. The rest of the day they spent watching movies all cuddled up on their leather couch in the rec room. When dinner time was approaching, Henry suggested going out. "How about Jolie’s," he declared. (Jolie’s was the fanciest restaurant in town. The only other time Henry had taken her there was on their first date.) Eliza smiled fully and said she would be delighted.
They arrived at the resturant and a young waiter sat them and took their coats. Eliza looked radient that night and Henry, well Henry looked frankly like a nervous reck. He had been planning this moment for months, right down to the very second. Everything had to be just perfect. The dinner was five courses and every bite more delicious then Eliza had ever remembered Jolie's to be. After the final course they left the resturant stuffed to the gills. Elzia was quite confused at this point, as she had expected Henry to propose at the resturant.
On the limo ride home she noticed that they took a wrong turn. Just about to mention something to Alfonzo, her new driver, she realized that home was not the next destination for their magical night. The limo stopped at the egde of a beach where there was already a blanket perfectly set with two wine glasses and a bottle of Eliza's favourite make. To satify Henry and keep up the sharade, Eliza got out of the limo stunned and asked, "what ever have you done Henry, you sneeky lad?"
They sat under the stars that night and Henry proposed. Eliza more then extactically accepted the offer and they were planned to be married in the winter, Eliza's favourite season. They would have their dream wedding and live happily ever after... or so it seemed.
