Web of Lies Chapter 2

Two days had passed since Hannah had spoken to Natalie, but it seemed that everytime she tried to approach the girl, she looked the other way and ignored any attempt Hannah made to say hi.

Hannah sat through class, unable to concentrate. She was pregnant, her boyfriend had left her, she had been betrayed by her closest friend and now when she wanted to apologise once again, she was ignored.

'Why does she ignore me? Why is she angry at me? She did me wrong and once again, it's up to me to own up and apologise for confronting her.'

Another lunchtime was spend in detention, but it didn't matter. Hannah didn't want to leave the room, she didn't want to face Natalie's cold shunning.

The work was done and Hannah was allowed to leave early. She relucantly gathered her things and went to sit with her friends for the rest of the break.

As she approached, she saw Natalie there. She was crying. 'Oh no...'

"Hannah... We need to talk."

Hannah turned around and followed Luke.

"What is it? Why is she there? What is she saying about me?" She said in a sudden outburst.

Luke put his hands on her shoulders, looking her in the eye. "She's crying crocodile tears and once again incriminating you for confronting her. No-one's buying it so far, but the teacher had walked by and you may be sent to the vice or councellour."

Tears again filled Hannah eyes. Her face was thinning and her eyes sinking into their sockets from the tears and stress for the past few days. "What am I going to do?"

He put his arms around her and held her until she stoped crying. "Don't worry, I'll be here. Call me, send for me, email me... Anything, ok?"

Hannah looked up at him and nodded. Drying her tears, she turned around, preparing herself for verbal abuse as she made her way to her friends.

She caught Natalie's eye for a split second before the girl turned around and started to walk away.

"Natalie!" Hannah yelled.

Natalie didn't stop or give any sign she'd heard.

Hannah ran up to her and grabbed her arm, "Natalie, stop this... I'm sorry ok? I didn't mean what I said..."

Natalie turned around, "What you said really hurt me!"

Luke approached and grabbed Natalie, "You lying little bitch!"

"Luke...." Hannah said, taking his hand off her.

Luke stared for a second before storming back to the others.

"Let's take a walk..." Natalie said, beginning to walk towards the buildings.
