I'll Be There
|
He bent over, in tears. The pain was getting too much, as it often did in situations like this. His girlfriend had left him. Another one gone, but this one was different. She just left. She didn't tell him when, therefore there was no time for goodbyes.
"Everyone just leaves... Is it my fault?" He asked himself as he brought his hands to his head.
He sobbed for days, isolating himself. Not contact with the outside world, just sitting in his room. No light, no food... Just him and his memories.
Hoping there was a message she may have left for him, he turned on his computer a few days later. And sure enough, a message appeared.
"Meet me at the park, by the bench at 3"
It wasn't signed by anyone, but that didn't matter. His mind was so clouded he didn't think twice, and he rushed out of his house after tidying himself a little.
The park was empty, the sun was setting. The sky was a beautiful pinkish orange, the clouds fading away. He sat down and waited.
The minutes passed like hours as he waited nervously. Would she show up? Would he be left there alone?
Sitting down on the bench, he sighed. It was a little after 3 30, and no-one showed up. He lowered his head into his hands and began to sob.
"Don't cry anymore..." Came a familiar voice.
He didn't look up, knowing who it was. "You sent it, right?"
"Yes, I did," She said, "And do you know why?"
He didnt reply.
"To show you that if you wait, things will happen. Just because things didnt work out at first, doesn't mean the good times wont come. Dry your tears, you've cried enough." The girl said kneeling down.
It was only then that he looked up, his cheek meeting her tissue.
"Why didn't you tell me it was you?" He asked as she dried his tears.
"Would you have come?"
He paused, his head sinking back down, "I guess not..."
They were silent for a few moments while she finished drying his cheeks. "Now no more crying. Life is full of hard times, we just have to learn to live with them, pick ourselves up and move on. That doesn't mean to say that we can't be upset... It just means that you can't dwell on it and let it continue to affect you."
He tried to look away, "You'll just leave, like everyone else... Something will happen and you'll be gone."
"We all die... But we wont for a long time. I couldn't just leave you, you're my friend, and you need me, just as much as I need you." The words cutting through him almost. "You just have to trust me."
He put hs arms around her and held her close, "Thank you..."
She pulled away softly and put her hands on her cheeks gently, looking into his watery eyes. "Remember, I'll always be here for you. No matter what."
"You always have been. And I thank you for it, and I thank you now."
She kissed his forehead and wrapped her arms around him, "Now no more tears, ok? Everything will be ok."
