I never gave it a second thought. Never questioned or wondered. I never tried to understand why I wasn’t married yet. Sure there were girls that were getting married left and right, I just wasn’t one of them. I tried to brush it away. I tried to act like I didn’t care. But I did. I did care. I cared that no one seemed to want me enough to court me or marry me. I cared so much that there were no words for it. You would think that my father would be able to arrange a marriage for me. But he didn’t. Or he couldn’t. Either way I wasn’t married. And my future provided no promise of one any time soon.
