Realization
I wake up. I am sweating like I have just run the mile. I shouldn’t still have that nightmare. I should be able to get over it. It should not be haunting me six years later.
But it is haunting me. I know why. Because in actuality it is my fault that Mom is dead. Not Dad’s, not Mom’s, mine.
I drove Dad to sleep with Lydia. Me.
The day I turned ten I told him that he wasn’t allowed to do that to me anymore. I told him that I would tell somebody. I told him that I would kill him. I told him that I would kill myself.
One years later he found Lydia. He needed someone unleash his sexual desires on. I told him it couldn’t be me. It’s my fault he cheated on Mom. It’s my fault that she killed herself. Everything is my fault. Everything is always my fault.
