After they had lain Darik down in a separate special room, they had a discussion. “At least we finally heard how he really feels,” Leon said. “But, as stubborn as he is being, we can understand why. He loves Harmony, and will do anything to keep her happy, even die himself,” Cain said. “We will have to force him to drink blood for now own. If I could, I would keep him in my care until I knew he was well, but all of you have to go to school. It is what your mothers wanted, and your fathers wanted what they wanted. It’s in the genes of your family to please a girl/woman,” Snow said. “The gene hit Darik too strong then. But, he’s always been this way about her, ever since he found her. The two days after he found her, a family meeting was immediately called. His mother, Auntie Kina introduced Harmony to everyone. She was so small, and afraid. Our mothers left us all in a room together so that we could try to get along,” Dominick said smirking. “We were really interested in her for some reason we didn’t know why. All of us sat on the couch looking at her stupid, and she was so sensitive that she started to cry,” Cain added. “Darik calmed her down and went off on us. He said, “Don’t look at her that way. If you make her cry again, I will make you wish you were dead!” His eyes were glowing red as well. He felt so strong about that little girl who just seemed like a cry baby to us,” Leon said. “If his feelings are too strong for her, then this problem will become worse. The deeper his feelings are, the more he will want her, the more he will try to resist his want of her, and then more pain will be inflicted upon them both,” said Snow, “and this is the time of year when we are most vulnerable to death.” “We can’t make him see that what he’s doing is dangerous, Ms. Snow. Darik just won’t listen. Only she can make him listen. I remember once he didn’t even listen to his father, over her…and his father was only doing so to test his feelings for Harmony. It was only a game but Darik didn’t even know,” Dominick said. *FLASHBACK* *Scene of Drake arguing with Darik at age fourteen in Kina’s home.* “I don’t want you to stay here anymore with that girl. You’re coming back to the kingdom with me.” ‘I will not. I will stay here with mother and Harmony.” “You dare disobey me.” “I am not being disobedient father; I am resenting and declining your request.” “Who do you think you are? That girl is a mere mortal. She is weak and foolish. You are being the same.” *Darik’s eyes shifting colors with fangs sticking out of his mouth.* “I do not care what you say about me father, but she has done nothing to you.” “So you not only disobey me, you unravel your power, and point your fangs as well. This is too much,” Drake said laughing hysterically and then with a serious look just to pick at his son, “for a stupid insignificant human girl who you must be in love with.” Everyone was listening to the argument in the next room and Harmony had just gotten home from school. She ran to find where the noise was coming from and happened to hear Darik’s voice arguing. “Father, go back where you came from! Damn! Why did you come here in the first place? I wish you would drop…” “Darik!” They stopped and turned their heads to Harmony. “You shouldn’t speak to your father that way,” she said with her soft voice. His fangs receded and his eyes revolted back to their original color. “Oh, so you stop because she said so!” “Shut-up father!” “Darik!” “He stared it Harmony. You weren’t here, so you wouldn’t know. You wouldn’t even understand!” “How pathetic you are, my son. You even raised your voice at me, ready to chop my head off, and yet for her, you bow down like a servant.” “I thought I told you to go a…” It took one look from Harmon to make Darik stay quiet for the rest of the night. After everything had passed over, and Lord Drake was about to leave, he pulled Darik to the side and told him the truth. “I only wanted to test you Darik. I wanted to see how emotional you would get about Harmony. You are really my son and I am proud of you. I hope that you are not still angry with me. Please forgive me, and ask her to forgive me as well. Take care of your mother while I’m away and Harmony too,” Lord Drake said smiling. “Yes, father, and I’m sorry…for everything I said but…” “I understand. It’s quite alright.” Lord Drake walked outside and there he found Kina with Harmony who was apparently crying. “It’s time for you to go already, my love?” “I will be back as soon as I can, Kina. I’m sure that Darik will do fine taking care of you. And to you, Harmony, I deeply apologize. I had to, test Darik on something.” Harmony nodded her head to him, bowed, and ran off. *FLASHBACK END* “He will do all he can for her, no doubt. But, boys, we will finish this discussion tomorrow. You go and get some sleep even though I’m aware that it’s like morning for us all. And don’t worry about these two. They will be fine, just leave it to me. I will watch these two the whole night. Well, goodnight my lords.” “Good night, Ms. Snow,” they said getting up and leaving the hospital corps. The time was ten o’ clock when they left and it was now a little after midnight. Snow had removed Harmony from the tub and redressed her. She had also laid her in one of the hospital beds for the night. She sensed Darik waking up and went to him. He was sitting up stiffly in the bed with his head in his hands as always, thinking about Harmony; thinking about all the things that he had said. “I…love…her?” he let out softly, trying to correct his thoughts. “Do you want to see her, my lord?” “…yes.” “Very well then. Follow me.” He got up slowly with an ongoing headache, but followed Snow to where Harmony was resting. When he seen her, he froze. Snow said, “Don’t do anything stupid, my lord. I will return in quite a while. Take your time.” She left them.
