Blood of the Full Moon: Chapter Two: The Truth Hurts
|
Blood of the Full Moon: Chapter Two: The Truth Hurts After her fall out, they rushed her to the hospital corps. The boys stood outside of the room. Nurse Snow walked out of the room. “First off, I need for you boys to go bathe before you catch a cold for being so childish. When you return I will give you the news on her condition. If you can not wait to hear the news on her condition, I will call your fathers and I know that you don’t want that to happen.” They traded no words with Snow, but did as she had asked. Even though they were disappointed, it would be impossible to tell this story to their fathers: Drew, Drake, Lamenti, and Carneli. Within the passing hour, they were back at the hospital corps. They went onto the room with Snow and sat down. “Okay my Princes, listen. Apparently, she is very ill. Her condition has been stabilized though. What I don’t understand is how her human body can endure so much pain. Darik, when did you first realize that she was really sick?” “Three days ago.” Snow shook her head, “From what I’ve found, the girl has been sick for at most four weeks. For what ever reason, she’s been able to hide her sickness from you for three weeks.” “So what’s going to happen to her?” Dominick asked. “I can’t say yet. Right now she is a little conscious but unable to move in a tub of special medicines. They will work inside and outside of her body. I have also taken time to draw a blood circle around her to help her immune system work with her.” “This is bad…” Leon said. “I’m not even done yet.” Snow said. “There’s more,” Cain asked. “Yes. Darik you are to come to me everyday for the next month. It seems that you have grown accustom to trying to survive of little drops of blood here and there. Within a month, you will die if you continue this way. You can pretend that you don’t care but if not for yourself, the do it for “her”. I would like to prove a point of mine. You have become addicted to drinking her blood only, even if it has been a little here and there. Now, to the rest of you, rub this under your nose.” The other boys rubbed the gel under their nose as well as the nurse. Darik watched sadly. The nurse slightly opened the door to the room where Harmony was. “Now watch and see what happens to you Darik,” Snow said. Darik could feel his heart beating faster and faster. He began to feel hungry and pleasured all at once. He was becoming attracted to something. It was the smell of Harmony’s blood. He tried to fight his craving from it, but it was all that he could smell. His body pulsated nervously, with him still trying to fight it. He got up and walked towards the door, hesitantly. He held his head in his hand as he got closer, and his eyes began turning red with tears flowing from them. (I can’t stop myself. What’s wrong with me?) The others watched in interest. (It hurts. Why does it hurt so badly? My chest is burning…my stomach…hungers for…Harmony. This isn’t right.) He bit his lip with his blood running down his face. “The more you try to fight it, the more pain you will feel, Prince Darik.” He heard her but still was fighting, feeling more and more pain with each withdrawal. He pushed he door open, slowly, with the smell of her drowning his soul. The door was fully opened and he seen Harmony lying in the tub, with her face like that of a still doll. He looked deeply in her eyes, and all he could find was sadness, emptiness, and fear. For seconds he paused, still fighting, and then he fell to his knees. He had barely reached his limit. “Please…stop…Snow…make this pain go away.” “Only you can. You know what you have to do. Drink her…” “I won’t! I refuse!” “Then you will suffer until you can accept what you are and who you are.” “I do…” “You don’t! If you truly accepted what you are then you would’ve told sweet Harmony the truth by now.” “I can’t…I can’t do that…I can’t do that to her!” “So you will let her mind be in darkness. You will let her thoughts eat away at her soul, and wait until she breaks before you tell her!” “NO!” He clenched his stomach in so much pain. “Yes! This is the pain you wanted right! The suffering you needed and was waiting so patiently for! You have your wish.” “This…IS NOT MY WISH!” “It seems that way Prince Darik.” “I wanted…for her to be happy. Her family was slaughtered by our kind in front of her young eyes. If you had seen her…you would understand. She fears us…if she knew the truth…she would fear me as well. I won’t allow her to know!” “You have no choice now. Know your place in this world. Not knowing and not accepting, has brunt you far from your throne to your knees.” “I can’t lose her…” “You don’t want to lose her Darik, but look. Have you thought about the way she would feel if she lost you? She would suffer severely, emotionally and mentally. This girl would lose her soul if you were no longer apart of her world. That is what it will come to if you don’t stop this self-pity, selfish charade of yours!” “She…she shouldn’t know…it’ll hurt her.” “And not knowing will kill her.” Tears fell from the conscious, but unconscious Harmony’s eyes. “Da…rik…” “Even while she is unconscious, she calls your name. She trusts you. Maybe it is you who doesn’t trust her, my prince. How long has it been now? Ten long years, and she still doesn’t know the truth.” Darik said nothing more as he looked into the eyes of the most important person in his life. He held his head down, crying in pain. Harmony’s eyes closed slowly as she entered a full scale unconscious state. “Dominick, Leon, and Cain, hold him down while I do this.” They did as she asked while she shut the door to Harmony. Then she rubbed the gel under his nose so that he could no longer smell her blood. “What are you…doing to me?” Then she tried to pour a cup of fresh blood into his mouth but he shook his head. His cousins held it steady. Snow held his nose and poured it down his throat. He had no choice but to swallow it, if he wanted to breathe. They let him go and he tried to make it come up, but it didn’t work. The blood he had been given was actually Harmony’s, induced with a sleeping drug. Again he fell to his knees in anguish. He started to become immobile, and reached his hand out to the door where Harmony was. With his last awakened breaths he said, “Harmony…my Harmony… I love…you.”
