SAINTS OF SIN: PROLOGUE
|
There is no perfect person in this world. No, not one. So, you cannot judge me for what you see on the outside or for what you think you know about me. We all go through trials and tribulations and all are unique, but none are quite like mine. No, not any. I've been beaten, molested, neglected, put down, and controlled. I'm ashamed of who I am sometimes, ashamed of my life, so now I wonder is there even a God? What is left for me? How can I trust anyone......I don't know, but I'm still willing to try. This is just the beginning of the end of the beginning. I'm following my heart.....if one still exists. I'm a Saint of Sin.
Fifteen year old La'Nya Holland has faced problems her whole life. Growing up as a lonely child with no brothers or sisters, barely getting to spend time with her cousins, she suffered. Her mother never had time for her because she was always trying to please her step father, who did a various amount of abusive, illegal things to her as a child. Holding all those things in and going through so much, she couldn't trust anyone. Years later, when she got older, she revealed these things to her closest relative, her Aunt Nya. After a court case, and trial, Nya gained custody of La'Nya at age 8.
Nearly eight years have passed, and La'Nya is an older teen trying to live normally. She's smart, beautiful, creative, athletic, yet so closed in. But for a turn of fate, she meets sixteen year old Jeremiah Swift, one of the best known sophomores in school. He's on the football team, the varsity basketball team, and the cross country team, and he also maintains an A average in school. But guess what? He likes her. Will he be able to change her outlook on life or will he only make things worse for her?
