CHAPTER 20

“What was that all about?” Jessi asked me, after we were inside my car.

“I have no idea.” I answered, not really wanting to talk about it. “Hey how about we go to the beach?” I asked changing the subject.

“Ok.” she agreed.

We went back to my house, got her set up in the guest bedroom, changed into our suits, and began the short walk to the beach. I had a pool, but some days the beach just called my name.

We laid a blanket down in the sand. I peeled off my shirt and shorts and headed straight for the water with Jessi not too far behind me. I broke into a run and dove into the water. As soon as I was submerged it felt as though the water had washed away all my problems and I rose to the surface feeling a sense of relief. We swam and splashed each other like we were kids. Our fun was effortless.

After swimming for a while we headed back to our blanket to bake ourselves under the California sun. I didn’t feel tired, but shortly after I laid down and my eyes closed I dozed off.

I awoke to my phone ringing. I dug through my bag and pulled it out. Call from: unknown number it said. I flipped it open and answered it. “Hello.”

“Hey girl. What’s up?”

I immediately recognized the voice as T.I.’s “Hey, nothing just relaxing at the beach.” I said.

“Oh well if you’re not busy tonight you and your girls should come out to the club.”

“Ok.” I agreed.

“All right. Well, how many girls you bringing so I can put you on the V.I.P list?”

I thought about Camille and Sam, but decided that I wanted to just take Jessi. “Um, just one.” I said.

“Ok girl. I’ll see you tonight.”

“Alright bye.” I said smiling.

“Bye girl.”

I closed my phone and looked over at Jessi who looked annoyed at the fact that a cell phone had interrupted her sleep. “You wanna go to a club tonight?” I asked.

“Hell yeah” was her reply.

I laughed and laid back down. I was actually looking forward to tonight. I wasn’t sure what was going to happen tonight and I was ok with that.

Around ten o’ clock we were ready to hit the club hard, after washing the ten pounds of sand off ourselves. I had decided to wear a short black halter dress that showed my cleavage and most of my back. My long hair was down and curly. I walked out of my room and downstairs to find my cousin sitting on the couch. She looked gorgeous. She was wearing a red and white strapless shirt, jeans and her shoulder length sandy brown hair was pin straight. “Ooh you look hot.” I said laughing.

“I know right.” she said sarcastically.

“Well, lets get the hell out of here.” I said grabbing my keys and heading for the door.

The club was packed from wall to wall. I linked arms with Jessi so we wouldn’t lose each other in the sea of people. “What are you doing?” she asked me as she realized I was heading straight for the V.I.P.

“It’s okay.” I told her “that was T.I. that called me when we were at the beach. He put us on the list.”

“Um, ok.” she said not sure if she believed me.

I told the bouncer my name and he waved us through. “See I told you.” I said releasing her arm. When we had reached the top of the stairs T.I. spotted me and made a beeline straight for us. “Hey girl.” he said hugging me and kissing my cheek. “And who is this lovely lady?” he asked giving Jessi the once over.

“This is my cousin Jessi, Jessi this is T.I.” I watched him hug her and kiss her cheek.

“Well, come on lets go get drinks, on me.” T.I. offered.

Who was I to refuse. So we followed him over to the bar.

After three rounds of shots I was in the mood to dance so I grabbed Jessi and we made our way to the dance floor. I was buzzed and really enjoying the feeling being at the club was giving me. So when a pair of hands slid onto my hips. I didn’t even care. I looked up to find my cousin grinding on none other than 50 cent. Wow. What a night she has in store for her I thought to myself. I finally turned around to find that I had been dancing with T.I. We stopped dancing and headed back over to the bar. I sat down on one of the stools and T.I. took a seat next to me. “So have you talked to him since you guys broke up?” he asked.

I didn’t need to ask him who he was talking about. “Well, in order to break up you actually have to be a couple.” I said laughing.

“You know what I mean.” he replied.

“Yeah actually I ran into him today literally.”

“Did you guys talk?”

“Yeah we spoke a few uncomfortable words, but that’s it.”

“I see, well I wish you guys would talk because you are all he’s been talking about the last few days. He’s starting to piss me off.” he said laughing.

I smiled. “I don’t know if I really want to talk to him.” I said looking at my hands.

“Well, you’re gonna have to cause here he comes.”

“You’ve gotta be shitting me.” I said as I turned to look. Sure enough there he was heading right for us.
