CHAPTER 1

I stepped into the steaming hot shower. I stood there in the scalding hot water watching my skin turn red. I began to think about tonight. The plan was that me, my ex-boyfriend and new best friend, Matt and his friend Courtney were all going to this new club. It was supposedly the hottest club in L.A. and all the celebrities who mattered hung out there. None of that concerned me all that I was anxious about was having a good time over the next few months I would be spending in California. Originally coming from a very small and pretty much unheard of town in Michigan LA. Was like a foreign country to me. I had come out here to look into getting a job as a nurse after graduating with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan. The big city always appealed to me so I was here to make my dreams come true in the city of angels.

I stepped out of the shower and headed to my room inside the decent sized apartment I was currently renting. Seeing that the three of us had only arrived two days ago a lot of my things were still packed neatly in boxes. As I sat on my floor tearing through boxes I started thinking about why Matt and Courtney had decided to make this journey with me. My guess was for vacation since they would only be staying a week, but it was my sneaking suspision that Matt was only here to work on trying to get me back. It was quite and uncomfortable situation for me. I barely knew Courtney she was Matt’s friend not mine. Although, I was happy she had decided to come along for the simple reason that I didn’t want to stay alone with my ex-boyfriend. Don’t get me wrong were good friends, but I couldn’t stop thinking about how much he still wanted to be with me. That was enough to make me thankful for the female company.

Finally I had made the desicion to wear the clothes that I had purchased earlier that day. I made my way back to the bathroom dodging all the clothes and objects blocking my path. When I had finished straightening my hair and putting on some very light make-up I glanced at my reflection. My dark brown almost black chest length hair was pin straight and my tanned face was covered with the lightest amount of make-up. I smoothed my hair one last time before I began dressing. I slid on a pair of very low slung blue jeans and fastened them at my hips. Next I pulled on a plain black tube top and covered it with a crisp black button up shirt. I left the top buttons undone and fastened a wide leather belt just under my bust line. I sprayed myself with my favorite perfume and decided I was done. Before I left my room I stopped at an all red box sitting on my bed opened it and pulled out a pair of black leather stiletto boots. I lifted up my pantlegs slid them on and zipped them up one at a time. I opened my door and stepped out into the hallway. I closed the door behind me and headed for the staircase. I descended the stairs into the living room. Matt and Courtney were sitting on the white leather couch waiting for me. "Wow you look good," Courtney said. Matt didn’t say anything. He wasn’t really for the idea of us going to this club. He didn’t really care for the fact that I would be getting attention from other males. I just had to continually remind him that we were not together and he would have to deal with the changes between us if he wanted to continue to be friends. I grabbed my keys and purse from the coffee table and we all headed out the door to my car.

I slid with ease into the black leather seats of my Mercedes SL550. I shut the door and started the engine. I began backing out of the driveway and slid my favorite CD into the 5 disc changer. "Oh god I hate Justin Timberlake." Matt whined as the music began to fill the car.

"Well, you know I don’t." I replied laughing.

"Yeah I know you’d sleep with him, but honestly you don’t have a chance with him. You’re not a gorgeous model."

"Thanks for the encouragement Matt." I said smiling knowing he was right.

"Hey I’m just being realistic." he said crossing his arms.
