East Bluff Nightmare-Chapter 4

After school I meet up with Kalden. We walked to my house and talked about the old times. We laughed and joked, and when we got to my house I stopped.
“That’s a big house for only two people,” he said.
“My mom got married.”
“Oh, I’m sorry.”
“No, it is Ok I hate him any way. There is also something weird about the kids.”
We walk up the driveway and I see “Gerry” looking out his window. I start to run to the door and Kalden follows. I lead him to my room, and once we get there I quickly close the door and lock it.
“What’s going on?” He seems so confused, but I don’t have time to explain to him.
“I just hate my new family.” I grab my bag and I drop off my backpack. “Come on.”
“Shouldn’t we ask your parents?”
“Hold on.” I take a piece of paper and write on it. We walk out of my room and I leave the note on my door. We run down the stairs and walk out the door. I can tell he is thinking why I don’t want to make contact with my family. His eyes are full of questions and he is confused, but he doesn’t dare ask any of them.
“Come on we can stop by my house to get my car.” He looks me straight in the eye. I wonder what he is thinking about me. It only takes up a few minutes to walk to his house. It is not as big as mine, but it is still bigger than my old house. He goes through the front door and comes back out quickly. We take a black jeep. I get in the passenger seat. We start to back out of the driveway when we almost get hit by a car. I look at the car and the driver looks familiar, but it happened to fast to see the face. We start to drive down the road and we get to stop sign when another car almost hits us from running a stop sign. The driver looks the same from what I saw.
“What is going on with drivers today?” Kalden looks confused.
We start to drive and we are at a stop light. We wait there for a minute or two and suddenly we see a car in the corner of our eyes. It is going to slam into my side of the car. I get a glispe of the driver and then I feel Kalden throw himself over me. Suddenly we both realize we are out of the car. We see the jeep get smashed by the other car. We stare at each other.
“Are you hurt?” He asks as he checks himself for scratches.
“No, I don’t have a scratch on me.”
“Me either.”
We look at each other wondering how we could have escaped that car when we were right in it. I try to remember the driver, but the face comes in blurry. I look up and notice the other car is gone.
“That’s weird.” I say not knowing I said it out loud.
“What?” Kalden looks at me and then looks at the road. “The other car is gone.”
“Exactly, wouldn’t the driver see if we are alright?”
“Wouldn’t the other car be smashed?” Kalden adds.
We decide not to go to the mall. Three times today we almost got hurt, but I have no idea how we managed to escape the third on. We start to walk home it’s is late when we finally make it to my house.
“See you tomorrow.” I say
“That’s if I am alive. When my parents find out my car it toast I’m going to be in a lot of trouble.”
“You can’t tell anyone what happened to day.” I warn him. I walk up my driveway and through the front door. I close the door and run up to my room. I grab the note I left on my door. I open the door, and I see Marie-Ann playing the piano.
“What are you doing?” I yelled at the top of my lungs. “Get off that piano. It is not yours.”
“I was just playing Yankee doodle.”
“I don’t care your not supposed to be in my room.”
“But I wanted to ask you for help.”
On the exact time she said help “Gerry” yelled her name. I knew there was something weird about those kids I close the door and quickly lock it. I go into my closet and pull on the string. I go into the secret room. It seems bigger the desk seems farther back and the books are all back of the shelf even though I left half of them on the floor. I wonder if someone came in here, but how will that explain why it is bigger. The walls look cleaner and the desk is all neat and in order. I go into a drawer I put my box and it is still there I am filled with relief. This day has been filled with crazy things from the accidents to the secret room. I walk out of the secret room and close the door. This time I hide the string with some clothes.
I walk out of my closet and start to try to get to sleep. I am in a half awake state when I get the nightmare of my father’s death again, but this time it was different. We are walking up the bluff like normal, but every few minutes I see the tall man with a shadowed face, but his blue eyes are shining through the shadows. I ask my dad if there are any thing bad in bluffs. He answers I have nothing to worry about with him around. We make it to the top and instead of me wanting to stay I want to leave, but my dad says we have to stay. I feel how much I am afraid every time I turn my head away from the sunrise I see the face of the tall man. I keep looking forward and I hear my father call out my name, but I can’t turn my head without those blues eyes staring at me right in front of me. I can’t move I just feel his presence my father tells me to run.
“But I can’t the scary man will get me”
“He can’t get you if you can’t see him.”
I close my eyes and I run, but I start to fall around. I just sit down curled up in a ball by a rock I felt for. I keep my eyes shut till I feel the man is gone. When I open them I see my father in the same position my other dreams end up in. I yell and scream and then sit straight up in my bed. I don’t make a sound. When I look around my room I see the tall man I close my eyes and reopen them and he is gone. I have never had that dream before and it seems all too real. Was that what really happened or was it just the Nightmare Man playing tricks with me. I can’t fall back to sleep I stay in my bed and think about all that has just happened. I am very confused and I can’t find the right way figure this out to know if it was real or not. I feel I need to stay awake to keep my self from having any nightmares.
