For the rest of the day I trained with Rowen, and for the most part it took my mind off all the worries I had. Rowen explained a few things as we were training. Like the face that I was so sore all the time, apparently my muscles were building up; I was getting stronger without doing anything. He told me that working out regularly helps.

“How do you know so much about all this?” I asked him as we were finishing up. He looked down at the ground.

“Haven’t you figured it out yet?” he asked surprised; I stayed quiet. “I’m like you Danielle” he told me after a moment. It made sense, I felt stupid for not figuring it out before. They way he kicked Caleb at the wall, they way his skin was so cold, it all made perfect sense.

“When?” I asked wanting to know more about him.

“I was young I don’t remember it all that well, I just remember after. The headaches the most” He said; we were silent for a moment as we walked back to the apartment. Braven was not there.

“Where’s Braven?” I asked looking around.

“With her boyfriend I expect” he didn’t look at all worried.

“Braven has a boyfriend?” I was a little surprised. “How old is she?”

“Just turned 16 last month” he sighed. I hesitated before asking my next question.

“How old are you?”

“22” he glanced at me quickly then turned away.

“Do vampires age?” I asked taking a seat on the couch, I had seen enough movies to at least know a little bit about vampires, but what I didn’t know is if it was all true.

“No” he replied simply taking a seat on the floor across from me, he rested his back against the wall.

“Am I going to age?” I stared at him; he had his eyes closed as he leaned his head against the wall.

“Yes” he replied.

“So that means that you age”

“Yes” he said again. I was beginning to wonder if all my questions were beginning to annoy him. But there was a few more questions I needed answered.

“Do you drink blood? Will I drink blood?” I asked worriedly.

“No.” he opened his eyes now and stared at me for a moment. I sighed in relief.

“I don’t mean to be nosy or anything but how do you know Caleb?” I whispered.

“He killed my mom” he stated.

“Rowen, I’m so…” he held up a finger to quiet me; a minute later Braven came through the door. How did he know that she was coming? There were things he wasn’t telling me and I didn’t care for it much.

“Rowen I really want to talk to you more about this” I whispered to him as he got up and walked over to his sister.

“Are you ever going to bring him home to meet me?” he asked Braven. She let out a short snort of laughter.

“Ha, like I would ever do that! You would scare him off in an instant!” she laughed eyeing me over his shoulder.

“You look tired” Braven stated as I took a seat at the kitchen table. And truthfully I was tired but I was still afraid to sleep. I had fallen asleep the night before in Rowen’s arms and I felt safe. I didn’t have any dreams, but I was a little disappointed that when I woke up I was alone on the couch. I didn’t go back to sleep after that.

“I’m not” I lied; she looked at me suspiciously. We ate dinner, talking about nonsense till it was 9 o’clock. Braven excused herself, she had to get up early. So I was alone with Rowen again. He looked nervous now that Braven was gone. Like he didn’t want to be alone with me, but it didn’t matter to me. There still questions I had and I was intent on getting the answers.
