“What do you mean screaming?” I asked Chris when class was over as we walked out of the class room. “like was it a groaning kind of scream? Or what?”

“No Danni this was like a real scream, like you just saw someone being murdered” he sounded worried. “What the hell were you dreaming about?” he asked curiously.

“I wouldn’t necessarily say it was a dream more like a nightmare” I was staring off into space thinking about the dream again.

“Hello? Earth to Danielle?!” Chris waved his hand in front of my face. We had reached my apartment and were standing outside the door. “Jeez what is up with you today?” but I could tell that was a rhetorical question. I walked in Chris following close behind. Michelle was sitting on the couch watching TV. I looked at the clock.

“Shells honey don’t you have class in like 15 minutes?” I asked.

“Yeah, yeah” she waved her hand shooing me away. I picked the TV remote up off the couch and turned it off. “Hey!” Michelle protested as she tried to grab the remote from my hand.

“Get off your lazy ass and get to class!” I told her calmly.

“What’s the point I don’t even have time to shower?”

“Shoulda thought about that before” I grabbed a box of crackers from the pantry.

“You are worse than my mother!” she yelled but did not move from her spot, she crossed her arms over her chest and pouted. Chris laughed silently in the corner, but not silently enough.

“Shut up dumb ass” Michelle snapped at him. I scowled at him, Michelle and Chris have never really gotten along, only god knows why.

“Chris you can go or you can wait in my room; either way though you’re leaving this room.” I told him, he sighed and sulked off to my room.

“Shells what’s the matter?” I asked sitting next to her; she was still pouting.

“I just really don’t want to go to class” she whined.

“Well that makes two of us, but come on Michelle you know that you can’t just not go because you don’t want to”

“Nathan is back” she said finally letting the truth out. Michelle and taken a risk once and asked Nathan out on a date, long story short he turned her down. Turns out he sorta had a girlfriend at the time. Michelle was totally and completely embarrassed by what happened that she wouldn’t go to her Monday and Thursday afternoon class for a week till I kicked her skinny ass out of bed and made her go. He had ended up taking a class over seas for the semester and Michelle was okay with going to class again knowing he wouldn’t be there.

“Ah yes Nathan” I said relaxing back into my seat.

“Shut up” she growled.

“I will let you skip this one class but on Thursday you are going to class even if I have to drag you there. You are one year away from graduating don’t fuck it up” I patted her leg then got up and walked to my room.

“Thank you!” I she yelled happily when I walked away. Chris was waiting in my bedroom reading a playboy while sitting on my bed.

“Oh come on!” I said slamming the door, he didn’t even try and hide what he was reading. “Can’t you wait till you get home for that?” I asked shocked. He just smiled and continued looking at it. “Did you bring that with you?” I asked while getting out my laptop.

“Sure did” he smiled still not looking at me.

“That’s it” I snatched up the magazine, opened the door and threw it out and down the hall then slammed the door.

“Hey!” he was still seated with his hands in the air. I heard a faint ‘Eeww’ from the living room.

“You need a new hobby” I said sitting down on the bed with my laptop.

“And you need to pull that over enlarged stick outta your ass!” he kicked me playfully, but Chris had a way of getting over things pretty quickly. “So we going to a party tonight or what?”
