Ring…Ring… Ring..

“Hello?” I yawned looking at the clock which read 5:12, I turned and checked the other side of the bed but it was empty. Where the hell is Landon?

“Hello this is Rosedale Hospital I am calling for Mrs. Tina Perry” a woman’s voice said on the other end of the phone; Tina Perry is Landon’s mom.

“She isn’t here she is out of town” I said sitting up.

“May I ask who I am speaking to?” the woman asked.

“I’m Lacey James I am dating her… Mrs. Perry’s son, Landon” I was beginning to get worried and I was wide awake now.

“Miss. James Landon has had an accident.” She said gravely.

“What? Is he… is…” I was holding my breath and I hadn’t even realized it, I closed my eyes and took a deep breath and asked “Is he okay?”

“He is in critical condition right now, if you could come down to the hospital it will all be explained.” She told me getting ready to hang up the phone.

“Wait, wait he was with two other people Tessa Martin and Tyson Hallex”

“Like I said ma’am if you could come down to the hospital everything will be explained.” I hung up on her and quickly dialed Brielle’s number.

“ehh” Brielle said into the phone.

“Brie it’s me, there has been an accident” I was trying not to have a panic attack right then and there. “Tyson’s car broke down and Landon went to pick them up and now he is in critical condition and they wont tell me if Tessa and Tyson are okay, she just kept telling me that I needed to get to the hospital, and I don’t know what to do because I have Evan here with me and Landon’s mom is out of town and I… I… don’t know what to do” I said all in one breath. Brie, who sounded wide awake now and responded quickly.

“Okay, okay we will come and get you and Evan and go to the hospital. I am sure everything is fine just calm down.” But I could hear the worry in her voice and I couldn’t calm down.

“Okay” I replied then hung up the phone. I jumped out of bed and pulled on the closest clothes I could find, which was a pair of black sweat pants with our school name on them and a white beater. Pulling my hair up into a bun I walked into Evan’s room and gently picked him up. He made some little grumpy groans when I picked him up but he settled back down as I held him against me. I grabbed my cell phone as I headed out the door to wait on the porch. Five minutes later I was in Brielle’s car with Brayden riding shot gun and Evan and I in the back. We were all silent as we drove the rain had lighted up and was just a little drizzle now. When we reached the hospital I walked as fast as I could to the nurses’ station. I handed Evan to Brayden who took him and sat down near by.

“My name is Lacey James and my boyfriend and friends were just in a car accident” I told the nurse.

“Miss. James I am Kristy I talked to you on the phone earlier.”

“Are my friends and boyfriend okay!” I nearly yelled.

“Let me get a doctor for you” she said politely and walked away.

“Jesus Christ!” I cursed under my breath as I put my face in my hands.

“Miss. James I am Dr. Neilson” said a tall gray haired man, he was wearing very white shoes dark green scrubs and a white over coat.

“Is Landon okay?” I asked looking him straight in the eye.

“Let’s sit down and I can explain everything.” He lead me to a nearby chair, Dr. Neilson sat across from me and Brielle said to my right.

“Your friends were hit by a drunk driver”
