I reached Landon’s house and walked around back knowing that that is where he usually is when Evan takes a nap. I spotted him sitting on a swing on Evan’s play set. It took me a second to realize that he was smoking. I waked over and sat on the swing next to him scaring him a little.

“Smoking kills you know” I said starting to swing.

“I know” he said taking another drag.

“Why didn’t you tell me about the social worker?” I said getting right to the point.

“I knew I couldn’t trust Tyson” he said under his breath.

“Landon, please you know you can trust them, but more importantly you can trust me. Do I really stress you out?” I asked looking down at the ground.

“They could take him away” he said throwing the end of his cigarette on the ground and pulling out another one. “They could take Evan away and I would never see him again.” He repeated lighting his cigarette and get up off the swing. He walked over to a nearby tree and rested his shoulder against it. I got up and followed him; I stood in front of him a little pissed that he was lighting up a new cigarette. I scowled at him then took the cigarette from his hand and put it to my lips.

“What the hell are you doing?” he said before I could do anything, he tried to reach for the cigarette back but I pulled away from him.

“You think that you can just slowly kill yourself in front of me?” I raised my eyebrows “Let me show you how I feel every time you put one of these things in your mouth” I said raising the cigarette to my mouth again.

“Stop it” he said pulling my hand away from my mouth. “I get it”

“Do you?! Because I think it is really interesting that you won’t have sex with me because you’re afraid I could die in child birth but you can sit here and smoke your way to death while I am standing right here!” I nearly yelled. “You say you don’t want to loose me but in reality I have a better chance at loosing you if you keep this up!” there were tears coming to my eyes now; Landon just stared at me with his stormy eyes. Then without warning he took the cigarette threw it aside then kissed me full on the lips. I was a little shocked by his action I mean we had just been arguing and then this. He pushed me up against the tree still kissing me passionately. I pushed him away a little.

“What the hell are you doing?” I breathed.

“Tyson told me that Tessa told him you were on the pill, is it true?” he asked randomly.

“Yeah it’s true but…” Landon didn’t give me a chance to finish before kissing me again. Wait was he wanting to? Does he want to? Are we going to? He wants to have sex doesn’t he!

“Wait, wait, wait” I said pushing back a little from him. “Landon what are you doing?”

“Lacey I’m sorry every thing you said was true and I am sorry I put you through that. You have made me realize that I can’t be afraid of what might happen.” I just stared into his eyes. “Do you want to go inside?” he asked. I just nodded my head and smiled. I followed him inside to his room in the basement. I walked into his room and stared at his bed. Is this really about to happen? My mind was racing; I heard Landon shut and lock his door.

“What about Evan?” I whispered turning to him.

“He can sleep through anything, and my mom is out of town” he said rubbing my arms. I felt by breathing become faster and tried to hide it best I could but it wasn’t working to well. “Nervous?” he asked. I nodded my head.
