I drove to the park near the school and sat on the swings rocking myself back and forth. When I was little my mom would push me on the swings and I would pretend I was flying. God when the hell did my life get so complicated? I walked back to the car and grabbed my camera from the back seat. I took some pictures of some kids playing, and some nature shots but taking pictures of kids is always my favorite, when you can capture the laughter or smile you can’t help but smile back. After about 50 shots I sat back down on the swing and scrolled through some of the photos.
“Thought I might find you here” said Brielle’s familiar voice. Tessa and Brie took a swing on either side of me.
“Where were you today?” Tessa asked. “Landon was looking for you everywhere, he even left early to look for you I think.”
“I went to visit Lucas” I looked down at my pictures.
“Still having nightmares huh?” Brie said leaning back and starting to swing a little higher.
“Yeah I thought seeing him would help but I don’t feel any different and don’t feel any safer” I sighed.
“I know what you mean” Brie said coming to a stop.
“Hey” I looked up as Brayden walked towards us.
“Hi” Tessa and I said together. He walked over to Brie and started to push her softly back and forth.
“Hey Lacey, Landon told me tell you to call him” he said. I pulled out my phone and walked to the curb and sat down as I called Landon.
“Hey” Landon answered after 3 rings. “Where were you today?” he asked.
“I went to see Lucas” I said deciding to tell him the truth.
“What?! Why?”
“My nightmares aren’t getting any better Landon” I could hear him sigh on the other end of the line.
“Okay I have to go no but I will call you later okay?” he said.
“Yeah okay” I was a little disappointed that he didn’t have anything more to say to me. I hung up the phone and walked back over to Brie and everyone.
“Brayden have you ever been to Landon’s house?” I asked. After the attack Landon and Brayden had sort of gotten really close, it is weird how disaster can bring people together.
“Yeah once”
“Really?” I was surprised, I mean Brayden had been to his house but I hadn’t.
“Well I didn’t actually go inside it I just dropped him off one time”
“Do you remember where it is?” I asked getting a little over excited.
“Yeah sure” he said not really noticing how much of a big deal this was to me.
“Can you take me there?”
“Sure. When?”
“Now!”
I followed Brayden and Brie in my car. I was so nervous; I was finally going to see Landon’s house and whatever that tard was hiding from me. Brayden pulled to a stop in front of a little but cute house. I turned the engine off and walked to Brayden’s window.
“Thanks you guys should probably go, but thanks for showing me.”
“Lacey are you sure you don’t want me to stay?” Brie asked a little concerned.
“Yeah it is fine, I will be fine” I gave a fake smile. They pulled away reluctantly and I stood in front of the house that I had been longing to see for months. It was like a forbidden fruit or something. I stepped up to the door and rung the doorbell and within a minute Landon was a the door.
“Lacey! What are you doing here?” he sounded a little panicked and he closed the door a little so I couldn’t see in.
“I just thought I would surprise you” I smiled.
“Well you did” he laughed nervously.
“Landon what’s going on?” I asked, why the hell was he being so weird. Then I figured it out.
“Dadda” a little boy came into view and pulled on Landon’s pants.
