A Perfect Match 36

Romance Created on 3-13-08 Views(53) Story Rating G

Anthony drove around aimlessly for a while, keeping his eye out for Amy. He drove for 15 minutes before heading to the mall. He went to the food court to see if she did return, but he was disappointed not to see her there. Some of the people looked at him curiously, and a few girls’ gazes lingered on him. He ignored them and rushed back downstairs. He looked through tons of stores where he thought Amy might be interested in. He looked in the nail salon, even though people snickered as he entered. He passed by the jewelry store, but Amy wasn’t there either. Quickly he bought a necklace with a silver ‘A’ on it for Amy and carefully slipped it into his jacket pocket. After half an hour of searching, he gave up and went back to his truck. He passed by the park, and decided to look there again. He heard some screaming in the woods, and he was immediately curious. Cautiously, he went towards the sound.

“Hello?” he called out softly.

“Help me!!! Please help me!!!” The tone was familiar, and desperate.

“Who is that?” he was still a bit wary.

“Just help me!!” The screams got louder.

Taking a few more bold steps forward, he peered into the clearing. Jane was tied up against a tree and an unrecognizable person was ready to kill her with a gun. Anthony was afraid. He wanted to do something, yet he knew he shouldn’t. Jane deserved this; she was the one who ruined everything between him and Amy.

“Take any more steps forward, and I’ll shoot you, too.” The guy threatened.

Anthony nodded and swallowed.

“Good, now you keep your mouth shut, understood?!”

“Yeah, I understand.”

“Good. Now, assuming you’re telling the truth, I’m gonna reward you.”

“No, that’s not necessary at the moment.” Anthony’s voice shook.

“I’ll tell ya what you want to know, if I know it.”

“Well, have you seen another girl? Not this one, but one that might be crying, or looked like she was crying?”

“Um…I saw a brown hair-ed girl earlier, an hour before this one showed up, why?”

“No reason, I was just looking for her. So why are you killing this one?” he jerked his head towards Jane.

“She owes me 3 grand, and she hasn’t paid up yet.”

“3 GRAND??? For what?”

“Oh, her debts started a few years ago, and she still refuses to cough up the cash.”

Jane interrupted. “Please!! I’ll pay up when I get the money. I’ll sneak some from my parents and their bank account. I swear! Anthony, tell him to let me free!!! Is your precious little Amy more important than my death???”

“Actually, yes it is.” Anthony said calmly.

“What??!!”

“This is what you deserve for wrecking my relationship.” He walked over to the guy and gave him 50 dollars. “Here. Take this. This is if you kill her slowly and painfully.”

The guy examined the money to make sure it wasn’t fake. When he was convinced that it was real money, he grinned and agreed. “No problem. I was gonna kill her fast, but this money says so otherwise. Thanks, boy.”

“My pleasure; trust me, I mean that more literally than you think.”

Anthony whistled and left without another word.

“Anthony!!!” Jane shrieked just before he left the clearing.

“Yes, bitch?” Anthony slowly turned around and faced her.

“Please, help me. I’m begging you.”

“Nope, sorry. I don’t do favors for bitches.” He winked and left.

Anthony continued looking for Amy. He kept thinking he heard her, but every time it was just his imagination. “Amy!!” He called over and over again. But no matter how loudly he called, no one replied. He thought he saw a shadow rush past him in the distance, so he ran to catch up. He ran till he was out of breath, but he walked as fast as he could to see what it was. He was almost sure that someone had been there, and that someone could have been Amy. When he reached his destination, he only found a couple making out behind a tree. Quickly he turned around and walked away with a heavy heart.

He walked for a few minutes before finally giving up and sitting down against a tree. He traced the A on the necklace he’d bought for her, and sighed again. His eyes began to water. “I’m so sorry Amy. Please, just forgive me.” He whispered. The tears started running down his cheek. He kept reaching up to wipe them away, but the tears wouldn’t stop falling. He wanted Amy with him now; he wanted her to be here, comforting him. But it was all his fault that she wasn’t. it was his fault that Amy wasn’t by his side, laughing and talking with him. It was his fault that he had let Jane into his life in the first place. The whole thing was his fault. At this realization, he cried even harder. Finally, he stopped crying. He felt so stupid. He was a man, for crying out loud. Men don’t get emotional. He would just have to go to Amy’s house and tell her that Amy was hopelessly lost; lost as in she couldn’t be found, and lost as in he would never be able to see her again.
