"So you want to hang out somewhere after we eat?" Anthony suggested lightly, hoping that Amy wouldn't reject him as she'd done in the past. He looked at her expectantly.
"Uh...yeah, sure. I just have to get home by nine because my mom will freak if I'm not home when I tell her I'm coming home."
"Why nine o clock? Isn't that a bit....early? My sister has to be in bed at nine, but you're in high school."
"I know. But my mom and I have to be somewhere quarter after nine, and we absolutely can't be late. Trust me, if I had to be home by nine, I'd be pretty pissed."
"Cool. So, where do you want to hang out?"
"I don't know. As long as it's not too far and not too dangerous and is not a bad influence on my emotion and physical health, it's ok."
"You have restrictions?"
"My mom makes sure I know that just because she isn't with me doesnt' mean I get total freedom. She's just a nervous wreck, to be honest."
"Parents usually are. So, what about the mall?"
Amy replied with an amused expression on her face. "You? At the mall? Can't picture that."
"Alright, alright. I don't exactly like the mall. I just thought you might."
"Um, let's go somewhere we both agree on."
"Sure, why not? Any suggestions, smart one?"
"Hey, I'm not the one who wanted to chill. If I were the one who asked, then I would definitely have a place in mind."
"Ok, ok. Jeez, it's not my fault that I'm not as smart or logical as you." he teased with a grin.
Amy smiled back. "Why don't we hang at your house for a bit. We could play video games or something."
"Or maybe scare the hell out of Miranda."
"Who's Miranda?"
"My annoying little sister. She's only 5, but she's a pain in the neck."
Amy nodded as she bit into her food. This might not be so bad after all. If Anthony stayed this way, maybe she'd give him a chance. But then again, he was known to blow it at the last possible second.
After they finished eating, Anthony paid and they left. It was a quiet drive to Anthony's house. As they walked to the front door Amy whispered, "Are you sure your parents are gonna be cool with this?"
"Don't worry. My mom absolutely loves you, and she'd do ANYTHING for you and my dad's not home. He's almost never home. I rarely see him except in the mornings when he's about to got to work. So yeah, if you go in, you'll make my mom's day."
"Wow. I had no idea your mom was a fan of mine." Amy joked, and followed Anthony into the house.
"Mom! I'm home, and I brought Amy." Anthony called when he opened the door. There was a slight clinking of pots and pans and feet shuffling. Anthony's mom showed up from the living room and she smiled when she saw Amy. "Oh, Amy!! How nice to finally meet you!! Anthony has spoken so much about you and I always wanted to meet you!! You're just as pretty as Anthony said you were!!" She gushed.
Anthony was turning red. "Mom!" He hinted.
"Oh, sorry. Anthony gets embarassed so easily these days. It's so cute when his face turns red, don't you think?"
"MOM!!" Anthony repeated, an edge in his voice.
"Ok, ok. Have fun. Miranda's in the playroom if you want to meet her, sweetie."
"Thank you ma'am."
Anthony led Amy away in a hurry.
