"Come on, let's get something to eat, and then we'lll eat here. what do you say?" Anthony offered, smiling sweetly at Amy.

Amy smiled back. "Sure, why not?" She replied, and let Anthony take her hand and lead her to the deli right across the street. after a while they met Julie, who was also on her way to the deli with her boyfriend.

"Hey Julie!" Amy called, waving her hand in the air. Julie turned around and waved back.

"Hey, how are ya?" she said, then came over to her. she tried to hide a smile, but Amy saw it. "What's so funny?" Amy demanded. Julie pulled her to the side. then she said, "Hey Anthony. i hope you don't mind me talking to her for a while. i need to tell her something privately."

Anthony just nodded. when they were sure that Anthony wouldn't be able to hear a word they said, Amy whispered, "What was so funny? don't say you weren't laughing, cuz i saw that smile."

"Hey, chill, Amy. i wasn't laughing at you or Anthony. i wasn't even laughing. i was smiling. that doesn't mean i thought something was 'funny'."

"Then what were you 'smiling' about?" Amy demanded in a louder whisper.

"I was just thinking how well you and Anthony are getting along. you two make such a good couple, unlike all his other girlfriends."

"Julie, what are you saying?"

"I'm just saying that you and Anthony look cute together. the last time i saw you together, you were biting his head off, and nearly killing him on your front steps."

"You saw that?"

"Yeah. i see a lot of things that a lot of people don't even know about. so, how long have you two been together?"

"Since like two minutes ago."

"Wow, really? don't let him get on your nerves ok? if he gets even a bit annoying, just end the relationship. no point suffering more if all you're gonna get is a heart break."

"Yeah, i know. thanks, julie."

"No problem."

Amy and Julie walked back, and Anthony was still waiting patiently. "It's about time you got back." he said, but not angrily. he said it like he was teasing them.

"Yeah, well maybe Amy forgot about you for a while because you're the worst guy in the universe!" Julie joked.

Anthony's smile disappeared immediately. "What? Amy, is that true?" He looked at Amy anxiously, hoping that Julie was just lying.

"Relax, Anthony. she was just kidding, weren't you, Julie?" Amy said, smiling, and putting her arm around his and leaning her cheek against his arm.

"Yeah, i was just joking. sheesh, youdon't have to be so paranoid." Julie replied. Amy gave her a look that said  "ok, you can shut up now". Julie just shrugged and went back to her boyfriend's side.

"Come on, Anthony." Amy said, gently urging him forward. but Anthony stayed firm.

"I was hoping we'd be alone. let's go somewhere else instead." He said quietly. he looked at Amy for a reaction.

"Uh...sure...that's fine with me." Amy said slowly. Anthony noticed the way she said those words were different.

"Amy, what's the matter?" he asked, lifting her chin so that she had to look directly at him. she smiled. "Nothing," she said, "Nothing at all." Anthony wanted to believe her, but he couldn't help but notice that her smile seemed a little fake.

"That's a relief. so, where do you want to go?" He asked, forcing a gentle, unconcerned tone of voice.
