Anthony took his seat on the corner of Amy's bed. it was really quite comfortable. he sat all the way on the bed and leaned against the wall. Amy watched him the entire time.

"Amy, listen. i can explain."

"I don't want you to explain. Anthony, i'm not mad at you. i just don't want to be stuck with you as a boyfriend. i told you i'm sorry, but i don't want to be your girlfriend. but you'll get another, i'm sure of it. EVERYONE knows you're the gottest guy in our grade. all you have to do is ask a girl out, and they'll fall heads over heels over you. she'll think that with you as a boyfriend, she'll become instantly popular."

"Then why aren't you seizing up the oppurtunity to become instantly popular? i mean, no offense or anything, but you're pretty much known as a geek."

"I don't really care to be popular. all i want is to live my own life and if i get a boyfriend, he has to be a good one. and, no offense or anything, but you don't make a good boyfriend."

"Alright i understand. but i kinda wish you would understand my side of the story. i can explain why i was being so pushy this afternoon."

"I'm not mad at you, Anthony. i told you that. i don't hate you either. it's just that you're not a good enough boyfriend for me and that i need my space. please stop following me around. you don't have to explain a single thing to me."

"But i think you might want to know."

"Fine, if you insist."

"Well, i had a girlfriend originally, and i was hanging with my boys when somehow a bet was thrown out. the victim was me, of course. my boys said that i was the most goody-two-shoesey guy out of the whole group. well anyway, the bet was if i could get a girl, any girl, and get her to date me. then, either of two things had to happen: 1)i have to fuck the girl, or 2) the girl has to give me head. if i did it, then i get 10,000 bucks. but if not, i get nothing."

"So this whole thing was part of a bet. what a jerk you are, Anthony. but i guess i should have expected it all along. you ARE the hottest guy in our grade."

"No, wait. i'm not finished. well, before i actually went out with you, i promised myself that no matter what girl they picked, i wouldn't fall in love with her. i had a girlfriend already, and the only reason i'll be having sex with another girl is for the money. i told my girlfriend about it, and she said she was fine with it, since we can have sex any time we want. so they picked you, and at first i thought-hey no problem.but then we went out and i fell in love with you. i couldn't help it. you're just loveable-in a romantic way. i broke up with my original girlfriend because of you. Amy, you have to trust me. i love you really much, and i swear on my life i'm not saying all this because of a bet."

"I can't believe you. i would if you've never lied to me before or if you told me only minor lies, but this is one big lie you told me. you told me you loved me, but it was only so that i could love you back so much that i would agree to have sex with you. how can i be sure you aren't lying to me now?"

"Please. just go out with me and you'll see. one month, Amy. One month, and if i don't satisfy your qualifications of a good boyfriend, i'll leave you alone for the rest of your life. i won't even talk to you. what do you say to that?"

Amy thought about it for a while, toying with one idea after another. she thought about both ideas thouroughly. then she looked at Anthony with the answer at the tip of her tongue.
