“And who says she’s prettier than you?” Sam questioned me.
To get you caught up I’m Alice and Sam is one of my best friends. I had just finished fuming for what must have been an hour over a stupid boy and a friend of mine. See, there’s this guy in the marching band, he’s nothing special; not hot, not a genius, just one of those people you see in the back of the picture. And, well I kind of like him… he just doesn’t know it. I was just about to break the news to one of my band friends, Tara, when she says “Guess what!!!” She seemed excited so I let her tell me her good news first. “You now that guy, Jeremy?” This wasn’t looking to good. “I like him, like a bunch!!!” I smiled at her the best I could and said cool! “So what were you going to tell me?” Hmm… that I liked Jeremy. “Oh nothing, so are you going to tell him?” That got her smiling. “Um, yes. Right now.” She hurried off in to the lunch room, and I just stood there watching everyone go to lunch. She liked him too? There was no chance for me, she was skinnier, cuter, lovable, and everyone liked her. He’d defiantly like her more than me, so I tried to forget that I even liked him at all. That didn’t last long I ended up telling everything to Sam, which is where you came in.
“No one has to say it! She just is.” I hated when Sam got like this. She thinks everyone is beautiful, even if you have to dig a little deeper to see it. I just can’t reason with her, the other girls are prettier.
“Fine, but still you shouldn’t give up on him. Maybe he’d like you.”
“I doubt it, and besides it’s the end of school And I’m not gonna be seeing him again”
“Whatever” Sam rolled her eyes at me and we went back to our pitiful attempt at yoga.
Little did I know that not seeing him would only make me like him more.
