Orphan Luck [ch.8]
|
Next thing I knew I was on my back on the cushion, he was partially on me, but mostly still on the cushion. We were still kissing. It felt amazing. Never before had I ever even dreamed that I’d kiss a boy. Now, here I lay with one not only kissing me, but laying half on me as well.
I heard a noise in the hall way. Sounded like foot steps. Martin heard it too. He pulled back and grabbed the controller. I rolled over onto my stomach.
Martin hit the un pause button on his controller just as his mom stepped into the doorway. ‘Whew! Close call!’ I thought to myself.
“Martin, you’ve been on that game council almost since the moment you got home!” She scolded him. “Shut off your game and show our new guest around the house.”
Martin sighed with exaggeration. I had to keep from giggling.
“Fine mom, but you owe me one later.”
“Okay. And don’t forget to show her the outside of the house too. There’s a whole beautiful backyard. More than just the inside of a house.”
“Okay okay.” Martin reached out and flipped a switch. The TV screen went black and the light on the game council went off.
Susan walked away. I turned and looked at Martin. He had a funny smile on his face.
“Let’s start with upstairs shall we? There’s much to see up there.”
“I guess. If that’s what you want me to see.”
“Yes, there’s something up there I want to share with you.”
I got off the cushion with him and we walked out into the hall. I looked both ways and no one was around. I had no clue where his mom disappeared to so quickly all the time, but it didn’t really bother me either.
When we got to the stairs, Martin stopped.
“Do you want to take the stairs, or the elevator?”
“Uh... what’s an elevator?”
“A little room that moves from floor to floor.”
“Sounds fun.”
“Okay, elevator it is.” Martin stepped around to the right of the stair case. “Right this way then.”
I followed. There was a little door on the right wall. Martin pushed a button and the doors slid open. He stepped in and I followed.
When he said small, he was right. It looked like it could fit three people at the most, and they would be squished.
The doors closed, but there was light in the room. Martin pushed a button that said ‘2' on it and the room came to life. There was a jolt, then the feeling of moving.
Martin turned to me and smiled.
“Let’s pick up where we left off.” He gently grabbed my arm and pulled me to him.
Once again, his lips were pressed against mine. I felt as though I would melt right there in his arms. His arms wrapped around my waist as he pulled me ever-so-close to him. I felt like I should do something but wasn’t sure what to do.
I decided on wrapping my arms around his neck in a gentle hug. So I did so, and it seemed right. Since he was taller than me, I had to stand on tip-toe to do so. He may only be a year older, but he sure was tall.
The room jolted to a stop. We pulled apart just as the doors did. Martin motioned for me to walk out first. I stepped out and just to the left of the doorway. Martin followed me. The doors shut behind him.
“The second floor is mainly bedrooms and bathrooms.” Martin said. He put his arm around my shoulders and started walking down the hall. “Nothing much to look at really. They’ve all got beds and dressers and desks.” He smiled down at me.
“Are they all the same color?”
“Oh no, some are painted different colors than others to accommodate different orphans we’ve had through here. Some are blue and green for the boys. Others are yellow and pink for girls.” Martin stopped at one and opened the door.
I looked inside. The walls were a pretty shade of blue with white trim. There was a bed in one corner, a desk along the right wall, and two dressers. On top of the desk sat a computer. On the dressers were different little things.
“This, is my room.” Martin said. “I want to show you something.”
He stepped inside, taking me with him. Once inside, he shut the door behind us.
“What did you want to show me?” I was curious as to what he wanted to show me.
He didn’t say anything. He just walked me to his bed.
“Sit down.” He said gently.
I sat, well, kinda. The bed squished and moved about.
“Waterbed.” He smiled.
“What?”
“The bed has water in it.” He said.
“This is so cool!” I bounced a little bit. It was actually kinda fun.
Martin smiled and walked to a dresser. He turned on a CD player and put a CD in. Music started playing. No words, just music.
“This is one of my favorite CDs.” Martin said, turning and walking back to where I was. “It’s called spirit flutes. There’s no words, just music played on an Indian flute.”
I smiled. “Sounds pretty.”
“Not as pretty as you are though.”
“Oh you!”
With that, Martin leaned down over me, a hand on the waterbed on each side of me. He looked at me and smiled. I wasn’t sure what to do, so I scooted back on the bed, making it quish around more.
Martin literally followed me. He got up on the bed. He was on all fours. I stopped, but he crawled closer. Then he grabbed me and pushed me down on the bed. He smelled really good. I don’t know why I didn’t notice that earlier.
“Kwanii,” He said soothingly. It was almost too much just to hear my name leave his lips. “I want you to be my girl. Will you be my girl?”Comments
