I looked into the room. It was huge! There were large family portraits on the walls and on the far wall was, what seemed like it could be, a walk in fireplace. Sitting in matching chairs, facing each other, were two adults. Both dressed in casual clothes as Martin was. Jeans and a T-shirt. They looked nothing like high class people would. I then assumed that not all people who live in huge houses are high class.

“Well hello Kwanii.” Martin’s dad said. He smiled and got up out of his chair. His wife stood up as well and followed her husband over to meet me. “My name is John.”

            “I’m Susan.” Martin’s mom answered.

“Hi. I’m Kwanii Lang.” I smiled lightly.

“Nice to meet you Kwanii.” Susan said. “You look like you were just in a fight with a bear!”

“Dear, why don’t you take her to get cleaned up?” John said.

“Right away!” Susan turned back to me. “Kwanii, would you care to follow me?”

I followed Susan down the hall. “So, where did Martin find you?”

            “Out side the manor house.”

Susan looked at me startled. “Really? Did you go inside?” She started up a flight of stairs.

“Yeah, I had been in there all night.” I said. I was glad that she wasn’t upset at her son bringing home a stranger.

“Really?” She looked me over. “You didn’t get hurt? Wow, that’s amazing!”

“It was close, but I got out safely.”

We reached the top of the stairs.

“At least you got out safely.” She turned and led me to a bathroom.

The bathroom was huge. The ceiling was so high and it was decorated in light green and yellows.

“Your bathroom is pretty!” I commented.

“Why thank you!” Susan shut the door and turned to me. “Okay, do you know what size clothes you wear?”

I shook my head and looked at the floor. “I have no clue.”

“That’s okay. We’ve got some in here. Let’s look, shall we?” Susan lead me through a door on the right.

We were in a huge bedroom. There was a large bed with a canopy over it. There was a desk, a vanity, and two dressers. Even though they were large, they still all looked small in the room.

Susan led me to a walk in closet. She flipped a switch and a light above came on. There were so many clothes! I had never in my life seen that many clothes before.

“Okay, you pick out something to wear, something comfortable, and I’m going to draw you a bath.” She smiled, patted me on the head, and turned to walk out.

“Uh, ma’am?” I turned to look at her.

“You can call me Susan.” She stopped and turned.

            “What do I pick out?”

“Anything that you would like to wear. Like pants and a shirt. That’s all you’ll need for the time being. Oh, and there are under panties in those drawers on the left.” She turned and walked out.

“Thank you.” I looked around. I started looking to see if anything would fit me.

I searched the drawers and found a pair I assumed would fit. Then I found a pair of pretty, light purple sweat pants. I turned to the right and saw the shirts. I looked through them, trying not to touch them too much. I didn’t want to get them dirty. I found a long-sleeve shirt. It was light green and had a little pink flower pattern on one sleeve.

I turned and headed back to the bathroom.

“Oh, I see you found something cute.” Susan smiled as I walked in.

            “Yes, ma’am.” I replied.

She shut the door and locked it. Both doors were locked so no one could get in. I felt a little safer here.

“Okay, you can set them on the counter there.” She pointed to a counter next to me.

I set them down while she turned off the tub faucet. The tub was full of water, I assumed, but you couldn’t tell, there were a ton of bubbles on top. It looked so inviting.

“Go ahead and undress and get in, I won’t look.” Susan turned around and started fiddling with something in the cupboard.

I stepped out of my clothes and into the water. The water was warm and felt good. I sat down in the tub and settled back against the edge.

Susan turned and smiled at me. “You look comfortable right there.” She smiled again.

            “The water’s perfect!”

“I try my best.” She set down two bottles on the edge of the tub.

I looked questioningly at them then at her.

            “Shampoo and conditioner.” She replied.

            “Oh, okay.” I smiled.

She opened another cupboard and pulled out a mini towel. She then knelt by the tub and dunked it in the water.

            “Here, sit up.” She said.

I obeyed. She washed my back with the towel. It felt almost strange for someone to be washing away all the dirt and dried blood that was on my back. She dunked the towel several more times and was gentler on spots where I had wounds.

“There, is that better?” She asked as I sat back.

“Much. Your so kind to help me like this.” I smiled.

“We love helping those who need it. It’s why we have all those clothes in the closet. To help those Martin finds, or either of us if we find someone.” She got up and went to the sink. She opened a drawer and pulled out a cup.

Sitting down again, she filled the cup with water.

“Close your eyes and hold you nose.” She dumped the water over my head. Once, twice, three times. “Okay.”

I opened my eyes, and wiped away the water from them. Susan was pouring shampoo into her hand. She rubbed her hands together and then washed my hair.

“Rinse time.” She said. She grabbed the cup and I, once again, held my nose and closed my eyes.

She rinsed the shampoo out of my hair, while moving my hair around and rubbing it.

“There, now for conditioner.” She put conditioner in my hair and let it sit.

“Does it stay in?” I asked.

“Only for a minute or two so your hair can soak up the vitamins it needs.” Susan replied, unplugging the drain.

I watched as dirty water disappeared. I was actually amazed at how much was there. Seeing as I had just been in a freak rain storm the night before.
