Ex-Girlfriend Problems [pt.2]

Drama Created on 2-4-08 Views(97) Story Rating G

I was in the middle of the woods. I could see nothing but trees for miles and miles. So I guessed a direction and started flying off towards it.

About ten minutes later, I arrived behind my house. I saw no car in the driveway so I knew that Sylvia wasn’t hiding in the house. The house was dark, no lights on.

I folded in my wings and landed with a soft thud by the back door. I walked up the steps and tried the doorknob. Locked.

I grabbed the chain around my neck and pulled out a key. I stuck it in the lock and unlocked the door. I stepped in and locked the door once again.

I stepped out in the hallway and flipped on a switch. Light gushed out of the light above on the ceiling. I looked to my left, where the activity room was and saw all the curtains open. I went over to each window, closed it, locked it, and pulled the curtains over them.

With the windows secured, I walked to the other end of the house. I checked the windows there as well, I closed two windows in the bay window and pulled the shades on all three. I turned on the TV so there was some noise besides my feet on the soft, shag carpeting.

I checked the front door; it was locked and dead-bolted. Odd, I would have been sure that Sylvia would have come in and hid. I smelled the doorknob. Nope, didn’t smell like her. Oh, did I mention that I also had an amazing sense of smell? Yeah, I think that’s one of the other traits I’ve inherited.

I pulled the curtains over the sliding door in the kitchen and then collapsed on the couch. I was beat. I looked up at the clock; a quarter to Midnight. I wasn’t even tired anymore. Sure I was exhausted, but I wasn’t tired.

I warmed up left over cottage cheese and noodles and sat in front of the computer. I signed onto AOL to check my mail.

Nothing but junk mail. So I deleted the junk and logged into Myspace. My life was at Myspace. At least on there, I didn’t have to explain the reason I had gigantic wings on my back. Oh sure, they were in my profile pictures, but no one’s asked. They probably all think that it’s a digital effect of Halloween costume or something.

I had one new message. I clicked on my inbox. It was from Sylvia. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to read it, but I had to. I mean, I don’t want to completely avoid the poor girl, I just don’t want to date her anymore.

Dylan, when you fled from me earlier today, it made me realize what a bitch I’ve been. I can’t believe that I even came back with that knife. I wouldn’t have needed it. All I needed was the rope and duct tape. Oh, by the way, check your aquarium. I love you and always will. See you soon! Sincerely, Sylvia.

I shivered. What did she do to Squish? Squish was my pet Python. I’ve had him for about four years now.

I deleted the message and stood up. I went to the fourth bedroom and clicked on the light. I went over to the aquarium and noticed the problem right away. Squish was missing! Sylvia had kidnapped Squish!

I couldn’t believe it. She refused to even look in the room, stating that she hated snakes, but here she had completely stolen him? What was going on?

I ran back to the computer and sent a message to her.

Sylvia, why would you kidnap Squish? I thought you hated snakes with a passion! What do you want? Tell me the ransom to get Squish back. Please. He’s my best friend. And you’d better feed him, or else he gets really angry and bites. Write me back now! Signed, Dylan

I hit send and bowed my head. I prayed about my problem.

‘Father most highest, please help me in my time of need. My snake has been stolen, and  Sylvia wants to get revenge. I need your help more than ever. What do I do? Who do I call? Do I go to the police? Do I call pastor for help? What do I do? Please, just. I... I’m scared. I don’t want anything to happen to Squish. I just want him back. Please, show Sylvia that what she’s doing is wrong. Please help me. I thank you ahead of time for what you will do for me. I pray this in your heavenly, gracious name. A-men’

I looked up at the screen. A knock-knock had popped up. It was Pastor. I accepted and IMed him.
