*When they both reach the cafeteria, over half the school is inside, waiting in one of the 3 lines for their lunches. Jade looks around for Rain...finally spots her sitting in a booth, digging wildly into a pudding cup she got with her lunch. Rain flags both girls down. As they approach Rain, Kim notices that there are two trays already on the table. Rain always talks the lunch-ladies into giving her two trays of food....one for herself and one for Jade....in exchange for her help lifting things too heavy for the lunch ladys to lift themselves. Jade sits next to Rain and immediately hands Rain her two pudding cups from her tray. After placing the pudding on her tray, she reaches for the $1.50 that sits in front of her tray and puts in her pocket. Kimberly sees this and shakes her head in disbelief...with a smirk on her face. As Rain and Jade eat their lunches, Kimberly reaches into her bag and takes out a small, container. After taking her container out, she looks around the cafeteria for a microwave. Rain notices this.
Rain: (with her mouth full of puding) Wat chu look'n fo?
Kimberly: A microwave...you know where one is?
*Rain points to a counter near the other end of the cafeteria..near where Spike sits.
Rain: U c that creepy lookin mutha f*(@ah sittin ova thur, tha counta behind em has one on it.
*Kimberly looks behind her at the counter Rains talking about. She sees Spike, sitting alone, with his head tilted back as if he's staring off into space, his eyes covered with his urban fishermans hat. Kimberly sees him and her eyes widen a little, realizing that he was who she saw leave the classroom out the back door*
Rain: Yo....Kimberly wuz it?
*Kimberly's eyes are still locked on Spike. Realizing that he's bein watched, he slowly turns his had towards Kimberly. His head facing her direction, but doesnt look up, his hat and dreads cover his face...but she can feel his eyes looking at her through his dreads.
Rain: YO KIM!!!
*This snaps Kimberly back into reality, as she turns back around quickly.
Kimberly: How'd you know my secondary name?
*Jade and Rain scoff at Kim
Jade: "Secondary"?!?!
Rain: Nigga, dis aint Halo!!
Jade: (laughing) Besides, there arent many nicknames for "Kimberly", now are there?
Rain: Thurz(there's) Kim, Kimmy, lil K'ski...dats bout it.
*Rain goes back to her pudding.
Kimberly: Yeah, people called me "Kim" back in South Carolina.
*Both Rain and Jade nod.
Jade: "Kim" it is then!
Kim: Hey, whats the deal with ol' boy back there....Spike you said his name was. Whats up with him?
*As if there was an airport search light going off on her head, everyone around the three girls, stopped what they were doing and stared at Kim with shock.
Rain: Nawh yo! She aint talkin bout that nigga back thur(there). She braggin bout a nigga bac in hur(her) hood wit that call!!
*Everyone who was lookin now turned back to their lunches. Rain and Jade let out a sigh of relief.
Rain: (whispering).....wha chu doin, talkn bout dat nigga openly lik dat fo?
Jade: (whispering)....you gotta keep it down when you talk bout HIM...
*Kim has a "what you talkin bout" look on her face.
Rain: O yea, ment ta ask a g....wat u got in tha plastic?
Kim: Chicken stir-fry....but enou....
*Rain and Jade look at each other and laugh silently.
Jade: (whispers).....Spike eats stuff like that. Some of that stuff Ive never even heard of before.....chicken teriyaki, california rolls, udon noodles....that nigga's weird. Its like he aint even black.
Kim: Whats wrong with eatin stuff like that...I eat stuff like that!!
*Both Rain and Jade's mouths hang open.
Rain: U eat dat s&^t?!?!
Jade: Wow!!!
*Rain and Jade both look at each other, exchanging looks, nod, then turn back to Kim.
Jade: You wanna know how he got like that? Why he looks like someone who's too out of it to even care aobut anything?
*Kimberly nods her head in curiousity.
*Rain quickly turns to Jade in excitement.
Rain: OHH!!! Can I tel it dis time?!?!?
*Jade nods.
Rain: Bout d^$m time i getta tel it!
Ok gurl, hur's da thing. Ol boy wasnt like dat....nig's wuz happy lik a mutha f$%&ah. He had a gurl by da name ov Vanessa. Well, dey both wuz goin out fo da longest. Til ol boy walkd in on her f&%in sum otha dude. Afta dat, Spike been like dis fo a yur(year).
*Kim: Wait, how do you both know about this...that sounds like somethin' that he'd tell only to...his friends? No way!!
*Both Rain and Jade look down....as well as a few other people around them. Kim looks around and notices all the people who are looking down.
Kim: So all of you who are looking down....
*Everyone who's head is down nods, including Rain and Jade.
*Kim: But why dont you all keep him company? You're all his friends, why not help him?
Kid 1: We may talk to him, but he's too creepy to be around.
Kid 3: At one point, i though the nigga was gay!! Till he showed up with Vanessa....VANESSA!!!! Of all the people he couldve hooked up with, he bagged tha most popular girl in school!! I still cant get over that one.
Kid 5: I thought he still was gay....you see him and Royce around each other all the time.
*Rain turns to Kid 3 and 5
Rain: Dat nigga aint gay!! I know fo sho that ol boy aint.
*Everyone around them hears her and looks at her as if to say "how do YOU know?"
Rain: Dont even trip lik dat!! I aint don nothin wit dat nigga, so get ya mind off dat!!
*All of her onlookers turn back around and eat their lunches. Rain blushes and sinks into her booth, eating her pudding slower then she did earlier. Kim sees this and makes the "my lips are sealed" hand notion.
