The day started out just wonderful. I got a call from my best friend who said for me to get dressed she was on her way.We went to the mall and met up with some more friends..

Now mind you this was late summer in August. We were all in a joyous mood because we were shopping for some party clothes for that night.School was to start the next day and so we thought we would throw a back to school party.Everything was going great. Marie and Terry had just started dating, and i was dating Terry's twin brother Perry. we were all off again on again couples. 

when we finished shopping the girls left the guys to go get some food.it was getting to be around 7 at night and the party was planned to start at 8. we left the mall and started back to my house. At my house the girls changed clothes and told the guys to meet us there.
now going on 8 at night we told them goodbye.

Cory was driving with Terry in the front passenger and Perry in the back.They were going across Hwy. 76 when they came to the last stop before making it across.Cory looked both ways before he stepped on the gas just to show off his new camaro. it was too late. a drunk driver came up the hill with no lights on and no way of warning anyone he was coming.

i got a call around 9 because as usual i was late getting anywhere. it was from marie. the guys were in a car wreck and she had some bad news..Here is the kicker, we had just lost another one from our circle of friends not 3 weeks before when  a hot water heater was thrown on top of him during a tornado.

Marie was hysterical. all i could say was who is hurt and how bad..Cory suffered a broken arm and a few bruises. Perry was being sent to hospital. they thought he might have some brain damage. Terry was on the right side of the car when the guy hit them..At 90 m.p.h. he hit the passenger side. it threw terry out of the car but it also tore the axle from under it. The axle crushed terry's skull then it lay on his stomach.

it was all i could do not to scream in pain. we loved him so much and he was only 16. he had jsut received a wallet with the insignia of "lucky 98" on it. he thought this year was his lucky one.. we buried him on his birthday august 4 of 1998. It was the final goodbye that we knew nothing about.

Please don't drink and drive.You may make it a hundred times but that next time you could take your life or someone elses life. this is a true story and a life lesson.. we buried him then his brother went insane as did his dad. that guy made a decision that night and he took away my brother..to our surprise he didnt even get prosecuted though. so much for small town law...
