Do You Believe in Things That Go Bump in the Night??!! 1

Creative Created on 4-10-08 Views(37) Story Rating G

Miranda was walking home from school. It was late at night, and the moon shed no light at all in the dark alley. Her coal black hair flowed in the evening wind. Her brown eye’s darted side to side as she walked with quick, uneven steps. She began to pant, and sweat as all the shadows of the night came out. Miranda heard noises, which made her walk quicker. Then, she heard footsteps which set her into a light jog. The she heard someone say her name, “Miranda”; the voice drug out her name out, like a last note in a musical piece. Miranda froze with fear and curiosity. The voice was so scary, yet so inviting, that she almost turned around. “Hey you, what do you think you’re doing out here in the middle of the night?” a man called out his third story window. Miranda just looked at him. Then she opened the door to her apartment complex, and walked inside. Miranda sat in front of her fireplace, holing her mug of coffee, and wondering who it was in the alley. She had never heard a voice so creepy and so caring before. Miranda was staring into her fireplace, when her phone rang causing her to jump. She quickly grabbed it and hit the talk button. “Hello?” the phone was silent. “H-Hello?” she repeated with a little fear in her voice. Then she heard the dial tone. She hit the end button, and set the phone down with shaky hands. Once the phone touched the table, it rang again. Miranda slowly picked it up. “H-Hello” she said. “Hey Miranda, it’s me, Charlotte.” Miranda let out her breath, and she realized that she didn’t even know she was holding it in. “I wanted to ask if you could work an extra shift tonight. I know you just got home, but I can really use the help.” “Um……….yeah……sure.” Miranda replied. Even after Charlotte said thanks, and see you at eight, and she hung up; all Miranda could think about, was if she would encounter the unknown voice again. 4-10-08 copyright
