Friends & Lovers [7]

     I don’t believe in throwing away food. So when Mrs. Gibson and I had filled up on the salad and breadsticks, which is what I love most about this place, and when our orders had arrived, we were almost full. When we were about to leave I had asked for boxes to take the leftovers home. Eventually, someone will eat it.

     After dinner I had taken Mrs. Gibson back to her house. Roddy dropped his luggage in his room and we both decided to go out for a walk. It was getting dark but the sun was still out, only it was hiding so we couldn’t see it.

     Roddy held my hand as we walked in silence for a while. I’m not really the kind of person that likes silence so since he looked like he wasn’t about to say something, I decided to start our conversation.

     “So how’d it go?”

     “Hmm? Oh. It was okay.” Doesn’t seem like it.

     “Really?” Actually, now that I think about it, he’s been pretty quiet since he arrived.

     “Yea.”

     “Did you do anything special?”

     “Not really. I spent most of my time thinking about you actually.” He tilted his head towards me a little to see my expression. I looked over at him and smiled. I wrapped my arms around him. He held me closer.

     “I missed you so much.” I whispered to him.

     “You don’t know how much I missed you.” He whispered back. He pulled his face back a bit and kissed me gently.

     We started walking again, only this time we weren’t holding hands. He walked behind me as both of his arms were wrapped around my waist with his chin resting on my shoulder. I closed my eyes and walked slowly with him, listening to his breathing near my ear.

     “I love you.” He whispered into my ear.

     “I love you too.” I know you’re thinking, ‘You guys are 16, you don’t know what love is, well that might be true, but after three years being together it just slips out. I mean, I know I don’t really now what love is, but I’ve never felt this way, so it might be love, right?

     It was dark now. Not the 11 o’clock kind of dark, but the 7 slash 8:30ish kind of dark where the sky is a dark blue. There are a few street lights on here and there, some few house lights on, and the bright and beautiful moon that shone above us as we walked. The wind, which unlike all the other past nights this summer, was cool as it lightly blew on our faces.

     As we almost finished our walk around the block and neared Roddy’s home, he let go of me completely and just stood there. I had taken two steps before I had noticed he wasn’t holding onto me. I turned around to see what was wrong.

     As soon as I turned around towards him I felt a pair of hands take a hold of my jawbone. I was pulled forward and immediately felt Roddy’s soft, warm lips over mine. His tongue slowly made it’s out of his mouth into mine as I gladly accepted it. My hands slowly found their way to the back of his neck while his were still placed on the sides of my face, his fingertips reaching just barely behind my ear.

     All of a sudden I had jumped up a bit, deepening the kiss, giving him a bit more pleasure. I held on to the kiss until I couldn’t stand it and had to break away (I’ll spread my wings and I’ll learn how to fly, I’ll do what it takes ‘till I touch the sky and I’ll make a wish, take a chance, make a change, and breakaway…..sorry I just had to.) I breathed a bit to compose myself as he stared at me in curiosity, breathing hard himself. I took out my cell phone as it kept vibrating. I showed it to Roddy and he made an 'Oh' expression.

     “Hello?”

     “Remy?”

     “Yea?”

     “Where are you?”

     “I’m still over a Roddy’s.” I smiled at him as he stared at me intently.

     “Oh. Well mom wants you to come home now.”

     “Okay.”

     “Bye.”

     “Bye.”

     “I have to go home.” I told Roddy.

     “Why so early? It‘s only,” he checked his watch, “8:07. You’ve only been with me for about three hours. Can’t you stay a little longer?”

     “I don’t know Roddy. My mom wants me home and I don’t think she’s going to let me stay out any longer. You know how she is, all protective and stuff.”

     He sighed. “Yea. But doesn’t she know how much I missed you?” He said as he hugged me.

     “She does. She probably just doesn’t know how much.” I smiled at him.

     We walked over to his house, hand in hand. I said goodbye to his mom and he walked with me to the car. “Bye Roddy.” I smiled at him.

     “Bye Remy.” He leaned down to kiss me once again ever so softly. “I’ll see you later.” I got in the car as he walked over to the side walk. I turned the car on and looked across the passenger’s side to the window. He looked at me and moved his right arm from the top of his right shoulder to his left hip, back and forth while mouthing ‘Put on your seat belt’ to me. I mouthed back to him ‘okay’ as I put it on. I smiled at him as he blew me a kiss.
