The Dying Rose and Us. ch 12

i've been walking around this town for two hours. it's still day light out, but i can see the moon. pretty....
there's still no sign of kiki. how can i tell her i'm sorry if she's not here to hear it?
how am i to tell my father i lost her?
oh well. this is too important. i looked around the twon and ducked behind a car. scartaching my fur i threw my head back and howled. i sent a coded message to anyone who could hear it that was a part of The Dying Rose. six howls returned, one i reconized as my father. another sound escaped soon after. it wasn't a howl, it was a yelp. someone was in trouble. i howled again. this time only one howl came back. i ran in the direction of the yelp. suddenly the yelp broke and ended with a screech.

20 minutes hove past since the yelping. kiki... where are you...? please say that's not you!

i'm not arra, i'm kiki!" her words echoed in my mind. in a way she was right. a howl escaped some distance ahead. i saw a two story house. all lights off except one over to the far lower left. the window was open. i heard growling.
i jumped through and landed on a large white wolf. i instintively growled, knowing this wasn't one of my own. rolling away and to my feet i looked around. the large white wolf stood on all fours with it's tail straight up in the aire.
time seemed to slow as i turned my head to the right. i could hear my heart beat suddenly. a cload black wolf was glaring at me, another black wolf with ratty fur looked at me from the corners of their eyes', standing on three legs stood with their heads held low. at first i thought it was kiki, but they were larger and more masculen then she was. other then that, two of my fellow wolves were growliong huddling over a limp body.
... kiki....
i suddenly grew furious. the fur on my chest frizzled straight and pointed at the surrounding walls.
the large white wolf sat as if nothing bad had happened.
"what happened?!" i called out.
"shame" was all it said.
i stepped forward, "omen!" it was Bar, i've met him a few times in training, i wouldn't call him friend, but i'd say allies.
"lets just get her outta here"
he had a point. the coal black wolf and the rather black w olf charged forward. "Help her omen!" bar called.
i went to her sa my fellow wolves held the enimies in place. her throat was torn, the skin pulled off completly. her shoulder was chewed with fless hanging, and her back leg looked mangled.
oh... my sweet...

she weas breathing, but her breaths came as short wheezes. my father jumped through the windo, along with three or four other fellow wolves. "you three! hold off the fallen ones! keep them from call for reenforcements. sir! help me with arra!" i ordered.
two wolves ran to the large white wolf. all three imeately entangled in a large ball. the other to kiki's larger more masculen look alike. my father helped me get kiki on my back. she whimped from her wounds.
slowly, carefully we slipped through the window. she was light, as if she only weighed 10 pounds. we were a few yards away from the house when me and my father heard snarls. the large white wolf and the coal black wolf jumped out the window. sprinting toward us. kiki lipped off my back and on to three legs, she nearly fell onto her side, swayed slightly, and whimpered in pain>
"an-" she said.

"kiki..." was all i could say. i figured asking if she was okay was a little stupid.... just a little.... "an-an- animal... control" she wheesed.
"huh?"
she looked at me with a dead expression. now i got it. "sir! protect her! i'll be right back!"
"where are you going?"
i didnt' answer him. i ran to the neartset house with light's on.

THUD!

"what the hell is that?" a man said opening a window curtain.

THUD!

"agggh!" he screamed as i charged in to the window. it didn't break, i didn't want it to. while he was there i snarled and snapped on the other side. he closed the curtains and i heard a click. he locked it.

CRACK!

hot air shot past my ear.

oh sh*t!... this f***kers got a gun!

THUD!

asfault broke and crakled from behind me. Animal Control was on the side of the two cars. one being a van.
Yes! kiki your a genous!
i charged at the first man who came ot of the smaller car. he screech.
i snapped at them. growled, snarled, anything i could think of to make them think i was dangerous.
i ran in the direction of kiki and my father when i was sure they were following me.
my father was at a stand off with the coal black wolf and the large white one. kiki was laying on her side. if it weren't for her rising and lowering stomach, i'd think she was dead.
both Fallen ones wolves head's shot up at the sign of the Animal control. they ran off unwilling to get caught. my father looked at me, nodded. and howled another coded message. moments later our commerads jumped through the window and ran off, all in the same direction. some were limping or running funny. my father looked at me again, then followed.
i hovered over kiki as four men, one with a rifle read for use, surrounded us.
"back up..." she whispered to me faintly. i did so, with my head moarnfully low.
one man scooted closer to kiki. i got it now, since i was potentually dangerous, they woudn't aproach. smart kiki.
he examined her wounds, gently touching around her neck in awe. he gestured to one of the men. that man he gestured to ran back to the van, turned it on, and drove it close to him and kiki. another man ran up, opening the back doors of the ban, revealing long cages. he picked up kiki and placed her in one of them. i had to stay with her. i yepped to get their attention. the man with one rifle had his ain on me. i didn't care, i ran up to the back of the van and jumped on kiki's cage. all of them looked at each other. the doors closed when they decided it was okay.

they didn't even try to help her. they just looked at her, shook their heads and placed us in a chain link cell. the full moon shown mid-way up the sky.
damn them. dman. the Fallen ones. them them for what tey've done. her wounds would heal, i know that. but even i'm not so cruel to attack a noobie wolf. ever. even if i hated them
i let out a deep sigh. i layed next to kiki. she was still wheezing. "i'm sorry" i whispered.
