                                   Chapter 5

Candice’s head was over the toilet vomiting. When she finished, she picked her tooth brush up and put tooth paste on it. She brushed her teeth. When she put it back, she examined herself in the mirror. She turned to the side.
“Ew. I’m getting fat. How could I be getting fat if I’m barfing and using the bathroom so much?” She stood there thinking quietly. Then it came to her. She looked terrified.
“Oh my God! I have to call Jesse!” She ran out of the room, “Jesse!!”

The phone rang. Gayle(Ma) jumped up and prayed for it to be Jesse.
    “Hello?” Gayle greeted quickly.
“Hi. This is Candice. Can I talk to Jesse?”
    “He’s gone.”
“Do you know when he’ll be back? It’s very important.”
    “Never.”
    “Ma’am?” Candice asked confused.
“He’s never coming back. Maybe you should go around town and the city looking for him,” Gayle advised and she hung up, “Please find him.”

I awoke with a jolt. More nightmares. I reached for the bag. Empty.
It was a week’s load! It’s only been three days!! I screamed in my mind.
“AGH! GOD!! WHY?!” I yelled to myself. I picked up the phone and dialed Mike’s number. Someone picked up the other line and breathed tiredly.
    “Huh?” Mike answered half-asleep.
“Hey. It’s Jesse. My load’s out. I need a refill on the Meth, but I still ain’t got no money.” I informed quickly.
“Dude, I gave you a week’s load! It’s only been a few days!”
“I know, I know. I need it! Dude, please! I’ll die if I don’t have any. I’m already too addicted.”
“Sorry, man. That’s your fault. Just meet me at my house. I’ll see what I can do. But seriously, Dude, I need my money.”
“Okay.” I hung up. I layed back on my bed and stared at the ceiling.
I’ll get a gun. I’ll go to him. I’ll have him at gunpoint and I’ll take my drugs. Then, I’ll call the cops and turn him in. Nothing to worry about. It all works out.

“I’ll take the most powerful shot gun you have.”
“Here she is. What a beauty.” The clerk said, handing me a rather large shot gun.
“Uh… I’m not going to shoot it. So… Is there a way I can just borrow it? I’m running low on money. Empty, actually.” I asked while holding the gun.
“I don’t know,” He paused uncertainly, “You won’t shoot it? Then, what’ll you do with it?”
“I just want to show my friend how to hold a powerful gun. He has his own, but he hasn’t learned how to use it,” That’s a pretty good lie. Especially for making it up on the spot.
“Well…” He looked like he was thinking hard, “It’s 12 o’clock now, what time will you have it back?”
“You say 12 o’clock? I’ll try to have it back by uh… maybe two or three o’clock.”
“My shift ends at four. So, just make sure you have it back by then.” He decided worriedly.
“Thank you! Thank you; I’ll have it back! See you soon.” I thanked while I walked away, putting the  gun in my backpack.
I slung it over my shoulder and started jogging to Mike’s house.

Ding Ding. Candice walked into the gas station looking around worriedly.
“Good morning, Miss!” Shane greeted brightly.
“Good morning. I’m Candice.” She greeted holding out her hand. Shane shook it.
“I’m Shane. How can I help you?”
“I’m looking for Jesse Henderson. He’s tall, has blonde hair. Have you seen him?”
“Sure have! He stays in the back room… In the back.” He laughed, embarrassed. Candice felt a small hope in her. She smiled.
    “Is he here now?”
“Sorry. He had to go run errands or something. He’ll be back in two hours or so.” Her smile faded.
“Oh. Well can I stay here and hang out until he gets back? I really need to talk to him.”
“I’d be glad to have some company. Take a seat,” Shane said pointing at a chair, “Now, what is it you need to tell him?”

    Knock Knock Knock
“Come in!” Mike yelled. I walked in and sat in front of him.
“So you still ain’t got no money, huh?” Mike clarified, putting his hands behind his head.
    “Yea. I’m real sorry, man.”
“Well, I don’t think I can give you another load until you pay me my $5.”
“Dude! Please. I need it!” I pleaded-my anger rising.
    “A guy’s gotta make a living. Now-”
I pulled out the gun and pointed it inches away from Mike’s forehead. I kept it there, but stood up.
“You know what I’m gonna do? I’m gonna take all the meth you got, then call the cops and turn you in. They will come and take you away and I’ll go home. Got it? You try and interfere or get away, I’ll kill you.”
“I bet there ain’t any bullets in it.” He accused. I pointed it up at the ceiling. I shot it. There was a huge hole right where I shot. Mike’s eyes widened. I pointed it back at his forehead.
“Trust me. I WILL kill you.” He nodded his head quickly.
I faced the cabinet and took out all of the meth that was stashed. I got a brown paper bag and put it all in there, then put the brown bag in my backpack. I turned back to Mike.
    “Where’s your phone?” I questioned.
“I-In the k-kitchen.” He quivered. I ran and dialed 911 on the phone trying to sound as innocent as I could.
“There’s a  man here dealing drugs. I think some might be illegal.”
“Son of a-” I faintly heard Mike yell.
“I need the police at 154 Henderson Drive in Jacksonville. Thank you. I hung up and went to Mike.
“Get up. We’re going outside. Don’t try anything sneaky.” I walked behind Mike, putting the gun in my backpack.
“One question, Jesse.” Mike said turning around, “You’re at a big-time drug dealer’s house with a stuffed book bag. Won’t they be suspicious?” I laughed.
“Silly, little Mike. It’s a school day, 2:45, and I’m 14. You do the math.” Mike’s face grew angry and two seconds later, cop cars filled the yard.
“Him! Arrest him.” One said pointing at Mike. Two guys took his hands together and pushed him up against. They handcuffed him and pushed him into a cop car. The first policeman approached me.
“Hey, kid. How old are you?” He asked.
“14, Sir.” I replied in my innocent voice.
“Okay. Do you need a ride home?”
    “No, Sir. Thank you.”
“Good day.” He said walking away. The cars all left, one behind the other. You don’t give me what I want, I take it. Even if it means I only win. Me. I thought to myself.
In about 10 minutes, I was at the gun shop.
“Hey, I told you  I’d have it back.” I said, handing the clerk the gun.
“Thank you!” He thanked, very relieved. I started walking towards the door.
“No problem! See ya!” I ran out of the store. The clerk opened the bullet chamber.
    “Man…THEY ALWAYS DO THAT!”

Ding Ding I walked into the gas station. I smiled at Shane. He shook his head and looked back down. I turned and saw Candice.
“Hey, Candice.” I greeted. She looked at me, her expression looking neutral.
“Hi. Uh, do I know you?” She asked bewildered.
“Jesse… Ring any bells?” Her mouth dropped and she jumped up and hugged my neck.
“Jesse! Oh my gosh, where did your hair go? Never mind. We need to talk,” She looked at Shane, “In private.” We headed to the back room. She sat beside me on the bed. She looks a little plump, I thought.
“Okay. Shoot.” I permitted. She looked worried.
“ Jesse… um. I don’t want to scare you or anything, but…you know how we haven’t been with anybody else? Well at least I haven’t.. But-uh.. I’m… I’m pregnant.”
