Chapter 5:

After school, I decided to just walk home. It was a pretty long walk, but I did any way. I heard my name being called out from behind me as I was on my way. I stop and turn around. Why is Devin following me? I stood there, smiling until he caught up with me.

"Hey I didn't mean to upset you in Social Studies. I was just wondering and I was hoping he didn't. In you case anyway," he said.

"You didn't upset me. I was nervous the whole class, just seeing is face again. I hate thinking about it. None of this is your fault. It's mine. You had nothing to do with this." I reply.

"But you had no idea that you were going to be raped and then get pregnant." he whispered.

"I know, but I just... I feel like it is all my fault. I didn't do anything to stop him from doing." I cried.

I press my hands to my face as I cried. Devin pulled my in close to him for a hug, so I wrap my arms around him too.

"I'm sorry I'm being so emotional today," I told him.

"Hey, it's fine. You've been through a lot lately. I understand." he said. "Come on, I'll walk you home."

We began to walk down the street as Devin had his arm around me, comforting me. As I said before and you're probably getting tired of me saying it, but something about him makes me feeling really safe. Like if something would ever happen to me again, Devin would be right there to save me, but this isn't some fairytale.

"Ok, do you want to do homework together or something?" he asks me as we walked up to my house.

"Nah! I'm fine, thanks for offering though." I replied.

"Are you sure? I mean, I can help you study for that big Science Exam we have on Friday." he offers.

"Well, i don't have a C in Science, sure what the heck. Follow me." I smiled.

"Alright," he says, following me into the house.

For some reason, the house still looked the same as it did yesterday when I through a fit about being pregnant and neither of my parents said anything. Odd? Usually, they'd be all over me saying, "What the hell happened here?" or "What the hell did you do?"

We went up to my room and I closed the door behind me. We both sat on the opposite side of the bed, facing each other.

"So, what exactly is on the test?" I asked him.

"You mean you don't know?" he looked at me suprised.

"No, I don't pay any attention in Mrs. Clark's class, even if she is a cool teacher sometimes." I reply.

Devin just laughed.

"Ok, well let me get my notes out." he said, pulling his backpack up on the bed. He was flipping through folders and books for many different subjects. I definatly wasn't organized.

"It might help if you were a bit more organized," I smirked.

"Well sorry," he smiled. "I don't have time to be organized."

I giggled.

"Devin, can I tell you something?" I ask.

"Name it," he responds.

"I don't know how to say this, but I... I really feel safe around you. I don't know why, but I just do." I studdered.

I was kind of shocked by the way of his reaction, and it was pretty. He was frowning. How could he frown? Is he afraid that I might like him? Or is he just that speechless? I don't know, but he didn't seem happy.
