Main Setting:

Salem, Oregon - middle of winter

REBECCA:                                                                                                                    

As Rebecca walked into her apartment, she noticed something disturbing sitting on her bed. Him.

"Jay, what are you doing here?" Rebecca shouted.

Jay is Rebecca's lousy ex boyfriend. He cheated on her for her best friend, Joann. She never wanted to socialize with either one of them.

"I need you back babe. Please, you don't know how bad I want you back." he replied.

"I can't believe you! After all these years, you think you can get me back? I don't think so." she hollered.

"Becca, please I need you badly. Please come back to me." Jay begged.

"After you cheated on me. I don't think you should be near me. Get the hell out or I'll call the cops!"

Jay looked at her, grinning. He gets up off the wooden bed and paces over to her. She flinched when he touched her face. Rebecca swatted his hand away from her arm. She pointed to the door.

"I missed you." he whispered.

"I don't care. Get the hell out of my face."

And he did. Once he walked out the door, she slammed it shut, as she started falling to the ground, leaning against the door. She cried softly, not making one peep.

Kyle:                                                                                                                            

Kyle grabs his coat off the rack in his two bedroom home. He flies down the stairs and was out the door. It was January and the weather was harsh. About a good 24 inches were on the ground already, not counting how much ice was underneath it.

As Kyle ran down to his car and he noticed his friend Jay walking out of an apartment, which happened to be Jay's ex's.

"Jay!" Kyle shouted. He looked over, but didn't say anything. "Jay what happened? You look miserble."

Jay strolled over to him. "Man I don't wanna talk about it alright. Rebecca doesn't want anything to do with me. I'm wreck without her." Jay whispered. Kyle noticed a small tear fall from his eye and was surprised.

"You're the one that ruined the chances being together. It's nobody's fault but your own." Kyle stated.

Anger filled Jay's eyes. "I couldn't help it Kyle. I was drunk off my ass. You can't tell me that when you're drunk you don't screw other woman." he raised his voice.

Kyle shook his head. "Dude, you are on your own for this one. I'm not helping you. Figure it out on your own." Kyle stated, walking away from his friend and hopping into his car. He pulled out of the driveway, like nothing even happened.

Melissa:                                                                                                                       

Melissa was taking a nap on the couch at her work in the lounge room when she heard her cell phone ringing. She didn't bother to see who it was, but she picked it up anyway.

"Hello?" she greeted, as her voice sounded horrible.

"Lis, are you alright? You sound like you have a cold." Joann said.

"Joann I'm fine, I'm just having a rough day at work. Why did you call me anyway?" she stated.

"Can I meet you down at your work? I really need to ask you something, but in person." she exclaimed.

"Sure, I'll be here for the two hours. I'll see you when you get here." Melissa said.

"Ok," then Joann hung up.

Melissa pulled the phone away from her hear and stared at it for awhile before she hung it up.

She sounded sad. I wonder what's wrong. Melissa wondered.

She jumped off the couch and went back to the main part of the coffee shop, as she waited for Joann to walk in.
