‘Jesse?’ nix was standing next to me and she had her hand on my shoulder. She had seen the entire fight, my elegant swordplay and the lightning bolt I had summoned. ‘Jesse please, it almost over. Its time to go home.’ I turned to look at her. I hugged her and cried. She held me close to her. ‘I know he was important to you but, you have to let him go.’ I know she was right but, I didn’t want to accept the fact that he left me alone for 5 years. ‘nix.’ ‘yes jes?’ she was looking at me. I was looking at her with my bloodshot eyes. ‘we need to finish the plan, the mission’ ‘ok then. Where to next?’ ‘living youth lane. 165.’ ‘ok then lets go’ I smiled. She walked toward the car and I followed. Scott stopped me though. ‘bro. what happened?’ ‘scott… I don’t want to tell you’ ‘no tell me now.’ I looked at him. He had his serious face on. He wanted to know ‘bro… he was my uncle…I killed my uncle…’ ‘but I thought Fred died 5 years ago. didn’t he?’ ‘no he lived on. He wanted me to live on. that’s why he held back and didn’t use the move he showed me along time ago.’ ‘what technique could he have that was would be powerful enough to stop you?’ ‘did you see the lightning bolt?’ ‘yes’ ‘my uncle showed me how to do that… a long time ago. He could do it too.’ ‘so… you could have killed anybody you wanted to?’ I nodded and said ‘I could mow down anybody. But me knowing and learning how to do that was repressed in my memory for some reason. Maybe because my uncle taught it to me.’ ‘but in the end you used it’ ‘but it was like he wanted me to do it bro.’ ‘ok. Lets go now. That’s all I needed to know’ I looked at him. I thought “he thinks I’m crazy or something now. He thinks I could have killed that giant for him.” ‘bro…’ I grabbed his arm. ‘im sorry bro’ he smiled at me ‘its in the past now. Lets get going’ ‘ok’ I was still depressed though. Even though I did not want to admit to it.

We drove to living youth lane. We looked at the houses for 165. We finally found it. It was a mansion. Huge. And fifty windows on one side. Rob knocked on the door. I looked at my watch. It was 12:42. The effects of the cloak were gone. But I don’t think someone would be willing to get out of bed at this hour. Nonetheless I heard footsteps inside the doorway. The door opened and we saw a clean and shaven man in his robes, rubbing his eyes. ‘what do want at this hour?’ ‘sir we have something you need.’ ‘well I have everything’ ‘were you expecting something to be delivered to your store all over the world?’ ‘yes its supposed to come tomorrow at 6’ ‘well we have it now.’ ‘oh you do? That was faster than I thought’ he yawned. Rob held out the chip and the man picked it up and examined it. ‘yup this is it but lets wait till 6 so that way its official and determined because I put it in my schedule already and I got to follow my schedule.’ ‘ok then where would you like to receive this item?’ ‘up on that mountain over there. I always take a morning walk.’ ‘all right then.’ ‘good night’ ‘same to you’ the man closed the door slowly and I could see rob smile. We had finally done it. We had a group hug and started walking toward the mountain. ‘well now what’s going to happen?’ ‘we’re going to forget about this and go home, Anna.’ ‘but what about all the fun we’ve had?’ ‘that’s for you to remember and keep as a memory.’ ‘ok then’ I looked at nix she was holding me. She was walking beside me as we walked toward the mountain. After a few hours, I looked at my watch. It was 4:30am. ‘lets walk a bit faster’ ‘walk?’ nix was looking at me perplexed. ‘yes walk faster’ ‘we don’t need to walk’ nix let go of me and breathed in deep. She grew her wings back and she smiled at me. ‘I can control this power of mine.’ ‘cool’ she picked me up and she flew toward the mountain. I looked down and saw that rob and anna and scott were running. Anna looked like a rabbit and rob was trailing her. Scott was in the lead, moving like a savage dog, toward the mountain. I laughed. Flying was a fun experience. I looked at my watch. 5:30. We were almost at the mountain and it was almost time. Nix slowly landed on the top. After a few minutes scott came up smiling. Then anna who was laughing, and rob who was panting desperately. ‘give me a second for a breather guys’ we laughed. He laughed too. I looked at my watch and it was 5:55. ‘almost time guys’ nix returned to normal and held me close. ‘nix here’ rob held out the chip toward her. ‘you give it to him.’ ‘why?’ ‘something’s telling me that you need to do it.’ ‘ok then’ she took it reluctantly and walked forward. We heard footsteps and the man came up the mountain. ‘oh hello nice day for a jog isn’t it?’ ‘yes it is’ ‘so do you have it with you?’ nix held out the chip ‘oh yes thank you. I’ll make sure that the stores get the information on this chip post-haste, but, there is a problem.’ ‘what is the problem?’ ‘we have no way to pay you for this so…’ ‘we don’t need to be paid’ he looked at us. ‘But you want a reward don’t you?’ ‘no’ ‘an IOU?’ ‘no’ ‘I don’t believe that so I guess you have to die.’ ‘what?’ he laughed and whistled. Like the barking of mad dogs we heard something coming up the mountain. He jumped and a motor bike popped out under him. ‘shop at Jake-Marsh. Where everything you need is a just a call away’ and he waved as he hit the ground along the mountain and sped off. I held my hand out to stop nix. ‘no let him go. Lets worry about what he summoned’ ‘but wasn’t it just the bike he called’ ‘no. cant you feel it in the ground?’ ‘no’ ‘well I can. Its pretty big, and… it sounds like a dog’ as if out of a book, a giant fiery dog popped out of the ground. It growled at us. It was a Cerberus. A three headed hell hound. Everybody looked at me and I sighed. I rubbed my fingers together and the dog growled at me. I looked at it and smiled. I snapped my fingers. I flash of lightning came from nowhere. And there wasn’t a fiery dog anymore but jut tiny little flames. But the flames turned into puppies. One lunged at all of us. Rob shot it and it burst into black muck. He shot two more, and those turned into muck. I took out the stiletto and cut open two more puppies. They also turned into black muck. Anna shot another dog and scott kicked another so hard its head popped off and the flames left its lifeless head. Nix grabbed my sword and pointed at it. I knew she wanted another lightning bolt. I rubbed my fingers together and snapped. The lightning bolt struck the sword and nix held onto it. She swung it at the dogs and closed her eyes. We all saw it. The lightning bolt stretched itself and hit all of the little puppies of Cerberus. They was nothing but a few puddles of muck. Nix swayed back and forth. She dropped the sword and it hit the ground. She held her head and almost fell over the cliff. I ran to her and caught her. She was weakened a bit but she smiled. She held herself close to me. ‘nix’ ‘yes Jes?’ ‘look the sun is rising’ I looked at the horizon and pointed at it. Nix then looked at it. It was a beautiful sunrise. She then looked back at me. ‘nix I…’ ‘yes?’ ‘I…I…’ I got up all the courage I had in me and said it. ‘nix…I.. I love you.’ she looked at me and said ‘I love you too Jesse’ we moved in closer and kissed each other on the lips. We stayed there kissing for a few moments. I wish it could have been forever. I opened one eye and I saw scott calling his girl friend on the cell. He was telling her he loved her. Rob was just staring at Anna and she was looking at him. I closed my eye and stayed in nix’s clutches, kissing her. I was holding her head toward mine and she had her arms over me. It was an amazing sensation and it must have been beautiful to see us kissing with such a wondrous background. Me and nix finally stopped kissing and our foreheads touched. We rubbed our noses together and looked at the sunrise. ‘rob lets go home’ ‘you said it’ he fiddled with the time machine and put the buttons back to say June 16, 2010 1:30 am. ‘Ready?’ rob looked around and we all held hands. ‘we’re ready’ he pushed the button and we felt the rising feeling. A few seconds later we were on the mountain but it wasn’t sunrise. It was the afternoon. We walked down off the mountain. I walked to nix’s house with her. Scott found his car where he had left it and drove home. Rob and Anna waited for me to drop nix off. We knocked on nix’s door. ‘oh phoenix please, stay with your boyfriend.’ ‘really mom?’ I was amazed. I had met her only a few times and she was so nice to me. ‘yes I mean it. Move in with him. Finish school and get married. This way me and your father can get some extra time’ her mom winked. I held back my laugh and I saw nix go red. She went into her room and put everything she had in a two suitcases. I took one and she took the other one. We waved to her parents and followed rob and anna. They were talking. I could hear them laughing. Me and nix didn’t need to talk. We just looked at each other and knew what we wanted. Each other. We walked to rob’s house and I waved bye to rob’s mom. ‘wow you guys are back fast.’ ‘I got what I needed’ nix giggled. We walked to my house. We took the suitcases into my room and nix unpacked her things. I had a bunk bed so she could live here if she wanted. We looked at each other. I sat on the bed and waited for her to be done. 1 or 2 hours later, she had everything where she wanted it. I looked at her and she looked at me. We kissed. ‘this is perfect jes’ ‘I know I am’ she giggled and I laughed. I jumped on my bed and she jumped on me. We didn’t need to talk. Us being together was perfect. And after all, perfection tells you when its alright. And I bet we both knew that it was alright.

‘isn’t it a great day jes?’ me and nix were outside my house looking at the clouds. She had been living with me for the past 3 months. It felt good being around her so much. ‘yes it is a wonderful day’ I smiled at her. And she smiled back. We were laying on the grass. A few hours ago, we were practicing our skills. I could make fire, along with the lightning, whenever I needed it. I was starting to be able to condense water and turn it into ice. I wasn’t very good at it but I was working on it.

Nix now could turn into a full phoenix. It was pretty cool. Well, actually it was hot most of the time. She did radiate heat of her body and she learned how to control how much she could put out. The nights were getting colder as September was coming and she learned how to stay human and use some of the phoenix’s amazing powers. “oh damn. I need to spar with scott tomorrow” I hadn’t thought about anyone else but me and nix for the past few minutes. We were just enjoying our time together. I then thought about rob and anna’s relationship. Then nix said, ‘I wonder how anna and rob are doing’ ‘they’re probably doing something illegal or rob is trying to convince her video games are cool.’ ‘hehe’ ‘haha’ I know rob probably would forget about anna for a few hours at a time and play his games. He loved playing them. He always has. ‘so nix, do you want to say hello to them?’ ‘sure. Maybe we can all go somewhere together.’ ‘yeah that’d be fun.’ me and nix got up and started walking back inside. Nix grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge and I waited for her. She finally chugged the whole thing and we walked to Rob’s house. We walked slow since we didn’t want to rush and plus we wanted to spend some walking time together. Always stopping to kiss each other and to say ‘I love you’ back and forth. It was truly awesome.

After about another 45 minutes of walking(I can get to rob’s in about 15) we knocked on his door. We waited but nobody answered. The door was unlocked so I opened it. I heard some noise but I didn’t know what it was. I walked toward rob’s room and gasped. Him and anna were tied to his bed. They had their clothes but it looked strangely like they were about to be raped. Me and nix took out the handkerchiefs from their mouths and untied them. ‘what happened?’ ‘we have to leave bow hurry. Out the window.’ I looked perplexed. What was going on? But we followed them out the window. Rob told us to duck and we did. He started crawling around the back of his house and to the front. We slowly followed and I realized what had happened. There was a car parked out front. A familiar red car. A red car with black stripes. It was Tim’s car! The one we had stolen and used to take scott to the hospital. I looked at nix and she was thinking the same thing.

I whispered in a low voice ‘rob. What’s going on?’ ‘they came to our house and said some things. Then they tied us up and went back to their car. We heard them drive off right before you guys came. Its lucky you did come over when you did or me and anna would still be tied up.’ ‘your welcome’ I stared at the car and saw two people sitting in it. A girl and a little kid about the girls age. The little kid was holding a mirror. The girl was combing her long red hair. I crept forward and nix followed me. Rob and anna stayed behind. I got in view of the car but heard a rustling noise. I froze and tried not to breathe. I slowly turned my head to the left. Two people in suits came walking away from the house. ‘it appears the two kids are gone.’ ‘that’s a shame I wanted to play a little’ the little girl giggled. I shivered. I almost had heard it before. I looked at the car and thought of something I could do. I concentrated as hard as I could on the tires. All of a sudden a “pop” was heard and three of the tires blew open. A little flame was licking a piece of rubber. ‘oh great. How long will this take to fix’ ‘a mere 15 minutes.’ ‘make it faster. I don’t pay you for slouching around.’ ‘yes ma’am’ one man obediently bowed to her and went to check on the tire. I concentrated hard on his glasses. I heard him scream a bit and he threw his glasses on the floor. They were still clouded in ice. He stepped on them and the ice shattered. He pulled another pair of shades out of his pocket. I heard nix giggle behind me. ‘what was that noise?’ ‘I will investigate’ ‘im sorry for this rob’ I concentrated on his lawn. All of a sudden the man that was walking toward us was now a moving flame. There was fire all around him. I could hear the girl scream. The other man took out a fire extinguisher and blew it on the flaming man. I slowly crept backwards and so did nix. When the flames were subdued, I looked at the man on the floor. He was severely burnt, and he didn’t move. The other man checked his pulse. He shook his head and kicked the man in the chest. He woke up and stood up. He straightened what was left of his burnt tie and walked away toward the car tire. The girl got out of the car and walked towards us. ‘I swear I heard someone say something before the fire suddenly erupted.’ she slowly walked toward me. I looked at nix and she was rubbing her fingers together. ‘phew its getting hot here’ the girl took of her coat and pants to reveal her bathing suit. Black with pink polka dots. I held back my laugh. It was funny since she was so small and had no boobs. What was the point of wearing a two piece? ‘man its really hot here.’ she walked forward. She was about to turn the corner when I heard her scream. I leaned forward to see her. I gasped. Her fingers were burning where she was. I could see her hair was on fire. But it wasn’t me. I looked at nix and she winked at me. I jumped up and ran to rob. ‘now is our chance. lets go.’ rob nodded and got up. He picked up anna and jumped the fence closes to him. I turned and saw the girl was still walking. ‘GET BACK HERE!!’ ‘ah’ I tripped over nix. She was still on the floor. ‘ow’ ‘sorry’ ‘its ok’ ‘yeah can you make it a little less hot?’ ‘no I like it hot’ I was on the floor staring at the girl who was still covered in flames. She wasn’t burning though. She was…melting? her flip-flop sandals were burning into her skin. She wasn’t screaming anymore but making weird noises. Her bikini melted into her skin, and then her skin started melting into the grass. ‘ah it burns it burns’ with every word she was speaking in a lower tone. The little girl collapsed and she was becoming more metallic, like the man. ‘oh man. How come I always get the robots?’ ‘we got a bigger problem’ I was turned around now and I saw the little boy with the mirror. He wasn’t smiling. In fact, his expression was blank. I looked into the mirror and saw something I shouldn’t have.

Little faces of demons were glancing at me in the mirror. I was scared. I tried hard to concentrate but I was to scared. I backed up slowly and finally felt nix on under my foot. I then caught my courage back and concentrated hard on the boy. I snapped my fingers. The little boy screamed. I stared and he was still there but the mirror was shattered and he was holding his face. I saw a piece of the mirror in his head and the blood was…black? ‘nix. Are you ok?’ ‘yes im fine. Give me a second though. I need to finish burning this girl to hell.’ ‘you might want to look at this now.’ ‘fine’ she got up and turned around. She saw the boy and gasped. He was bleeding black blood and the mirror was cutting him up. He was screaming…not in pain. It was almost laughing. He was laughing at us. I turned around at the girl and she was barely a robots metal slowly using her hands to crawl toward us. I glared at her and she went up in flames, gone in the ashes. I turned around back at the boy. He wasn’t a boy anymore though. He was a… a…

‘nix! Run!’ ‘no not with out you’ me and nix were staring at a dragon and it was big, red, scaly and it looked hungry. We had to move before it killed us. ‘nix we have to move’ ‘c’mon we can handle a little dragon’ ‘little? Little?? LITTLE?? You think that’s little? That dragon is not little. Are you trying to make this funny? This is not funny’ I was yelling but I didn’t know it. Nix was slowly backing up. “no im sorry. I didn‘t mean to say that. I was under pressure and I couldn‘t control myself.” I thought the thought for a few seconds and looked at nix apologetically. I could see she was scared at me. I automatically calmed my voice. ‘im sorry nix’ ‘stay away.’ she backed into the fence ‘You take care of the dragon. Im going to see where rob and anna are’ she said it in a serious voice. She jumped the fence ‘nix…im sorry. Im sorry.’ I looked back at the dragon, tears on my face. I couldn’t concentrate. I tried hard to make the lightning bolt strike the dragon, but always missed. I tried pulling myself together but the tears kept on flowing. I stared at the dragon. It lashed its tail and whipped my shoulder. I caught its tail. I was filling with raging and I took the dragon’s tail and threw it back at the dragon. It backed an inch then breathed fire. I froze the fire before it touched me. I looked at the dragon’s feet, with more rage. I froze one of it’s feet to the ground and it fell forward. I stared forward, still angry. I concentrated all I could and slowly turned my head. I felt my eye twitch and in a few seconds all that could be heard was the screams of the dragon. I heard some gasps and I turned sharply. Rob, anna and nix were staring at me through the fence. I hadn’t moved hardly. The dragon was dead. I had snapped its neck somehow. I looked back at the dragon and froze its entire body. I then snapped my finger and the dragon vanished from the face of the earth. I turned to face rob again. He was staring at me, eyes wide. I looked at anna and she had her hands to her mouth. I slowly turned to nix. She was crying. I felt my anger leave me and I felt sad again. I started crying and ran. I ran. I didn’t look back. I ran away crying. I ran home and slammed the door behind me. I ran into my room and cried. I just couldn’t stop. I looked at my hands. They were covered in blood. I ran into the bathroom and looked in the mirror. I was almost totally covered in blood. Most of it was my blood. I started trembling. I couldn’t control the trembling. I grabbed my head and rocked back and forth. ‘I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry’ ‘I know you are’ I turned around. Anna was standing there. So was rob. I backed up. ‘what happened? What did I do?’ ‘jes…’ rob was looking at me like I was some monster or something. ‘jes… you lost control. You went berserk. You totally killed the dragon by looking at it. We heard a loud pop and the dragon fell. You….yelled at nix.’ ‘I didn’t mean to. I was under pressure. The moment was too much for me. We were both going to die if we didn’t do something.’ he held his hand up for me to stop talking. ‘I know bro. please. Go apologize to nix.’ ‘where is she?’ I was still crying. ‘she’s under the tree behind your house.’ ‘thanks’ ‘for what’ ‘for understanding that I’m sorry’ I walked outside and left rob and Anna in my bathroom. I slowly walked outside. I saw her hugging her knees under the tree. I slowly walked toward her. ‘nix?’ ‘what do you want? Yell at me more? Wasn’t enough when were right in front of the dragon huh?’ ‘no nix. nothing…’ she interrupted me. She was now standing at me. ‘shut up. You hurt my feelings. Then when I saw you do that to the dragon.’ she staring at her hands. ‘it reminded me of… when my mom recorded a video of me when I went crazy before.’ she was trembling and crying now. ‘I saw my self. I saw my eyes. I was a monster’ ‘nix your not a monster…’ ‘be quiet I’m still talking.’ I quickly held my tongue. I was crying. Actually I had been crying when I had walked out to talk to her. ‘I was… making everything around me burn. I was out of control. I saw you go out of control and It reminded me of me. I couldn’t look anymore. Then I heard a pop. You snapped the dragons neck. I don’t know how you did it but some how you killed the dragon without a power you had.’ ‘nix I’m sorry’ I was leaning toward her. I outstretched my hand. She stretched her hand toward mine. But in a second she drew her hand back. ‘im sorry too’ I walked away. ‘jes’ I looked at my house and shook my head. I ran toward my house and jumped. I landed on the roof shingles, like I always did. I turned back to nix. But I quickly turned back forward. ‘if you want to accept my apology you know where to find me.’ I walked to the other side of the roof and sat down. I didn’t care that the roof was hot. When I sat down on it I just couldn’t stop crying. I looked at my watch. 12:30.I hugged my knees tighter. I buried my self in between my knees. I cried for a long time. I stayed on that rooftop. No food. No water. I was there for 5 days. I counted it. 5 days. With nothing but tears. After the fifth day I had bled from my mouth so much, my mouth hurt. I checked my watch. 4:35. I kept on crying. After another few hours though I heard someone jump on the roof. I didn’t look back. But then I heard the familiar voice… ‘jes’ ‘what now?’ ‘I… I didn’t mean to burst at you like that. Come inside and eat something. You’ll die if you don’t have any food or water.’ ‘I don’t care’ nix was creeping closer to me. I slowly crawled away. ‘jes’ ‘why?’ ‘why what?’ ‘why am I so…hopeless?’ ‘your not hopeless. If your hopeless then I’m ugly’ I got up and stared at her. ‘you are the most beautiful girl in the world. don’t ever let anyone tell you your not’ ‘then I guess your not hopeless right?’ I quivered. ‘don’t try to change the subject. It all my fault. I’m sorry’ ‘its not any ones fault. Everything happens for a reason.’ I sat back down. I felt her sit down next to me. ‘so are you going to come back and sleep or not?’ ‘no’ ‘why? What is more wondrous out here?’ ‘nothing. I like peace and quiet every now and then.’ ‘for 5 days? that’s your thought of every now and then?’ ‘a little dragon is about 10 stories tall?’ ‘no I was… I was thinking something else.’ ‘well so was I. I was thinking how we, We were going to kill the dragon. Not me alone. I looked at it in the eye. It was blood thirsty. Hungry. I’ve seen the look before.’ ‘jes’ she put her hand on my arm. ‘I wanted to protect you and rob and anna. I was thinking how I was going to do that and all you could do was joke about it? I… thought you had more sense then that.’ ‘but’ ‘I’m sorry. You should get some rest.’ ‘its only 5 o’clock.’ ‘well then leave me here for a while. I want to be alone’ ‘no’ ‘please.’ ‘no’ ‘please’ ‘no’ I looked at her. She was looking right at me. ‘nix please’ ‘no. I’m staying right here.’ she scooted closer to me. ‘nix no. go inside the house.’ ‘I’m not leaving the one I love alone.’ I could feel myself cry. ‘nix. I still love you. No matter what happens. I love you no matter what happens.’ ‘I know. I love you and I will always will.’ I looked at her and smiled with tears down my face. She was crying too but she smiled. ‘we just totally got our phrases mixed up’ ‘I know’ I put my arm around her. She put her head on my shoulder. ‘it is a nice view though’ ‘yeah. I came up here and wrote some of my poems up here.’ ‘I can see the inspiration you get for them up here.’ ‘nix?’ I looked at her. ‘yes jes?’ ‘I’m sorry. I am really sorry for yelling at you.’ ‘don’t be sorry. I’m the one that should be sorry. I should have come up here not even a few seconds after you first came up here 5 days ago. I’m sorry.’ ‘no its ok. You didn’t have too. I would have been just happy knowing your alive and safe’ ‘I know. I accept your apology.’ I hugged her. She hugged me back. I didn’t let go of her. ‘thank you for being the first to say that to me.’ ‘really?’ ‘yup’ ‘your welcome’ I felt my stomach rumble for the first time in a few days. Nix giggled. ‘lets go inside I think I’m hungry.’ nix laughed at that. We walked off the side of the house. We walked together back to the door. I opened it and motioned her inside. She smiled and walked in. I saw rob there reading the newspaper at my table. I looked around and asked, ‘rob. Where’s Anna?’ ‘she’s in the shower’ ‘ok’ I walked up to the cabinet took out a pan and filled it halfway with water. ‘what ‘cha going to make jes?’ ‘mashed taters and gravy’ ‘yes my favorite’ ‘rob, every think I cook is your favorite isn’t it?’ ‘yup’ ‘haha thanks bro’ ‘anytime’ I heard nix laugh. I picked out some of the good potatoes from the fridge and got them ready to be put in the pot to soften.

I slowly raised my eyes. ‘ah’ I saw nix and she was sleeping right on top of me. ‘nix… are you awake yet?’ ‘no’ I could hear her hold back her laugh. ‘what time is it?’ ‘your watch says its 9:30’ ‘oh really? Man I slept in’ ‘yup… but I couldn’t sleep’ ‘why’ ‘I had nightmares’ ‘Knowing the truth and thinking of something happy always gets rid of my nightmares’ ‘well either way I came down here. You were fast asleep.’ ‘I take my own advice unlike some people I know.’ I coughed and said scott’s name in between coughs. Nix giggled. ‘what did you have a nightmare about?’ ‘about us… never seeing each other again.’ ‘that’s never going to happen. Well, yesterday doesn’t matter. but still…’ nix put her finger to my mouth. ‘stop talking’ she slowly closed in on me and kissed my lips.
