Molly's POV

I finished off my cookie, and walked in silence next to Aiden.

We were almost to his house, when I realized I was still wearing Bri's hoodie.

"Hey Aiden, I'm going to quick stop at Bri's to give him back his hoodie," I broke the silence. "His house was a couple streets back, it won't take long."

He looked at me funny.

"You know where he lives? And why do you have his hoodie? Have you been stalking him?" he asked seriously.

I giggled. "Yes, you've caught me, I've been stalking the new kid, and he's all mine!" I joked. I could tell that Aiden liked him, so I had to give him a hard time; it was my job as his best friend.

Aiden stuck his tongue out at me. "I suppose we could stop by."

I jumped sideways onto him, squashing him in a huge hug.

"You know you want to." I teased.

He blushed, and pushed me off of him.

We turned around, retracing our footprints in the snow.

I turned onto his road, and saw his house lit up in the darkening night. It looked like the whole family was home, with how many lights were on.

We walked up to his door, and I could hear muffled yelling through the door.

Aiden looked at me, unsure of whether we should interrupt or not.

I cautiously pushed the doorbell, unsure of what we would find.

Immediately after the door bell sounded, the screaming stopped. I heard hurried footsteps, and who I assumed was his mom poked her head out through the doorway.

"Hello?" she asked.

"Um, hi, is Bri home?" I said, awkwardly.

"Yes? Who should I tell him is here?" It just occurred to me that she had no idea who the two dark clothed teenagers were that knocked on her door in the even darker night.

"Oops, sorry, I forgot about introductions. I'm Molly and this is Aiden, We're friends from school." At least I think were friends. I wasn't so sure after how quickly he left this afternoon.

She grinned, apparently happy that Bri had made friends.

"Hold on one second, you two may come in," she ushered us into the living room and went upstairs to find Bri.

I sat on the worn couch, pulling Bri's hoodie off over my head, getting ready to leave if we had already overstayed our welcome.

Bri walked down the steps, in black plaid pajama bottoms and a black batman shirt.

He glared at the pair of us.

"Did you two not get the message earlier? If I wasn't clear enough earlier, I will be crystal clear now. Fuck off." he hissed.

"Bri!" his mom said, shocked. She had walked down the stairs behind him, without any of us noticing. "That is no way to talk to your new friends!"

He turned to her. "They're not my friends."

"We would be if you'd let us!" I interrupted.

Aiden looked at me like I was crazy, and Bri and his mom just looked shocked.

"Bri, what is this all about?" his mom asked, confused.

He sighed and tried to leave the room, but his mom blocked the only way out. I knew he wouldn't move her out of the way because he wouldn't touch her.

"Bri!" his mom said forcefully, starting to get angry.

"I don't want to talk about it mom!" he raised his voice.

"Excuse us for a second," Bri's mom said politely, before she told Bri to leave the room with her.

They were talking in the room next to us, but we could still hear everything they were saying.

"Bri? What is the matter, they were being perfectly polite, and they came all the way out here to see you! Don't you want to make any friends here?" she yelled at Bri.

"Not really! And especially not them! I'm not good enough for them, Aiden made that very clear today at school." He fought back.

I looked over at Aiden, who looked almost as if he was going to cry.

Weird.

He's the kind of guy who hides his emotions.

The rest of the conversation was quieter so I couldn't hear anything else.

"Aiden?" I asked quietly, noting his shining eyes, threatening to spill over.

"What!" he snapped.

"Geez! I was just going to ask you what's wrong!" I spat back in the same angry tone.

Suddenly, he broke.

"He hates me!" he wailed, burying his wet face in my shirt.

I froze, unsure of what to do. I had never had to comfort Aiden before; it had always been the other way around.

Bri walked back into the room, his face red.

"Y-you guys are i-invited over to d-dinner tomorrow n-night." He forced out, before storming upstairs.

I looked at Aiden, still snuggled up to my side.

I sighed.

I had to fix this.

I pried Aiden off of me, and quietly walked up the stairs.

I knocked on the closed door from which From First To Last was being blasted.

I only had to guess who was behind door number one.

"What!" he shrieked over the melodic voice of Sonny Moore.

I carefully turned the door knob, and inched the door open.

I stuck my head in the room.
"Bri? Can we talk?" I mouthed when I saw that he was looking at me.

He glared at me when I didn't go away. After a few minutes of me staring at him laying on his bed, he finally got up and turned down the music.

I smiled, relieved that he was compromising.

I sat on his bed next to him, tensing to prepare myself for more yelling.

It didn't come.

I looked at him suspiciously.

"You don't take a hint do you?" he mused.

"Nope!" I chimed, making myself comfortable on his bed.

"So," he muttered, fiddling with the edge of the blanket.

"You're probably wondering what I want, right?" I questioned.

He nodded.

"Why can't you give us a chance? I don't know what you did to Aiden, but"

"What I did to him ? Oh let's see...NOTHING!!!! He laughed at me when I asked to sit with you guys at lunch." He sneered.

What? Now I was confused.

"Are you sure about that?" I asked quietly. I can't believe Aiden would do that, especially when I suspect Aiden might *cough* like *cough* a certain someone.

"What else was there to laugh at? Other than my pitiful attempt at for once having a friend, there was nothing funny. Can you just leave now, I think I'll start painting my room and you're in my way. My mom said that you two have to come over for dinner tomorrow, so I can 'bond' with my new friends. Come over around six." He grumbled, not sounding too enthusiastic about the last part.

"Here's your hoodie, that's why we came over in the first place." I mumbled, setting it on the bed next to him.

Not wanting to upset him any further, I quietly left the room and shut the door behind me.

I walked back down the stairs to find Aiden exactly where I left him.

"Come on," I said, pulling him up from the couch. He stumbled, and I barely caught him.

Carefully I led him out the door, saying goodbye to Bri's mom, and to his house.

Without saying a word, he walked into his room and crashed on his bed.

I silently pulled the covers over him, turned off the light, and shut the door.

I tiptoed out of the house, and quickly walked the two blocks to my house.

It was getting colder fast, and the dark clouds suggested snow.

I was too tired to do my homework, so I just brushed my teeth and got in bed.

The whole time I was wondering what had gotten into my best friend. It was almost scary seeing him cry like that, and on the walk home, he wouldn't say a word. I hoped all would go well tomorrow at Bri's house when we went for dinner.
