I'd Lie ~Chapter 15~Authors Comments: Girl's day out! Dress shopping and fun!
|
Today was going to be a blast. I haven’t hung out with just Lennie and Layla in what seems like forever. Yeah I hang out with Lennie at soccer games and practices when we have a break, but that’s not as fun as a girl’s day out. Especially when we would be going to the mall to pick out our homecoming wear. Whenever us three were together, you had better watch out because you never know what could happen.
Layla and Lennie were going to meet at my house and from there we were going to head out to the mall. I was outside relaxing on the porch swing waiting for them to arrive when the sound of a horn beeping made me stir. Looking at the driveway, I became confused as I saw that no one was there. But when I looked around I saw Adam by his car grinning at me.
“Why’d you honk your horn crazy person?” I called over to him.
“I just wanted to say hi!” he called back.
“Couldn’t you have done that a little quieter?” I said while standing up and leaning over the porch railing.
“But that wouldn’t have been as fun,” he smirked while walking over towards me. ‘So what time are the girls coming over?”
“They should be here any minute. I was waiting out here for them, but you disturbed my peace,” I said pouting.
“Aw, poor baby. I’m so sorry that I disturbed your beauty rest. It’s not like you really need it anyways. You’re already beautiful,” he said stopping right in front of the section of the porch where I was.
Blushing, I leaned over and placed a kiss on his cheek. “I’ll forgive you this time, but only because you called me beautiful,” I said grinning like a fool. “So what are you going to be up to today without me to entertain you?”
“You’re not the only ones who need to get something to wear for homecoming. I have nice dress clothes, but I want something sharp and new, ya know? I’ve got to look just as fabulous as my date,” he said winking. “But I’m going by myself. It would be weird to go out shopping with a group of guys. Now maybe if we were looking for tuxes it’d be a different story, but homecoming isn’t really that formal,” he said laughing.
“You should still call some of the guys and have a guy’s night or something. Just so you won’t have to be by yourself all day,” I said ruffling his hair.
“I wouldn’t be by myself. I have my mom you know,” he said smirking.
“Whatever Mr. Know it all. Try not to have too much without me,” I said as I stared down at him. Looking into his eyes gave me butterflies, and I liked it.
“I’ll try not to Dev, although it’ll be hard to do,” he said giving me that sexy grin. He stood on his toes and gave me a sweet kiss on the lips, which was interrupted with the honking of a horn as Lennie pulled up with Layla in the passenger seat.
“Sorry Adam, but as of now, she is not yours until tomorrow when we decide to give her back to you,” Lennie said as she stepped down from her Chevy Blazer.
“You guys are mean,” Adam pouted. “I guess that I’ll talk to you tomorrow Dev. Take god care of her guys,” he said as he gave me a peck on the lips and retreated back to his house.
“Are you guys ready for the ultimate girl’s day out?” I said as I approached them.
“You know it. Now hurry up and get your ass in the car so we can begin!” Lennie said laughing and jumping up and down.
“Sorry for interrupting your little moment with Adam, but he has enough time with you, and we don’t want to share today,” Layla said when I got in the back seat.
“I’ll forgive you guys this once, but don’t let it happen again,” I joked. “Now let’s go!” I said tapping on the back of their seats.
Lennie backed out of the driveway and we were off. The car ride to the mall was amusing as Lennie sang along to every song that was on the radio. The song that had Layla and me nearly in tears was when she decided to sing along to “When I Grow Up,” by the Pussycat Dolls, and make the motions to it. It was totally not a Lennie song to sing, which made it all the more amusing to hear her sing.
“Which store should we attack first?” Layla said as we pulled into the parking lot.
“Thanks Layla, make us sound like barbarians. ‘Which store should we attack first?’ It makes us sound like we’re going to raid the whole mall. Nice,” I said stepping out of the car.
“It was just an expression Dev. Thanks a lot for twisting my words,” Layla joked.
“Technically, if that’s what it takes, we’ll raid the whole mall in order to find ourselves the perfect dress. But it won’t be barbarian like. Now enough jabbering and let’s go!” Lennie said as she took off for the front doors.
The first store that we went into was Macy’s. Browsing the racks, we each found three different dresses and tried them on. One of us changed at a time that way the other two could comment on what they thought. I had also brought my digital camera with me so we could take pictures and compare dresses.
Layla was the first to show off her picks. The first dress was a light blue and went down to slightly above her ankles. It was simple as it had no rhinestones or any of the sort, and just had a strap going over each shoulder, but on her it looked elegant.
“Layla, you look absolutely stunning,” I said my mouth agape. “Strike a pose so I can take a picture,” I said holding the camera up in position.
“Nice, nice,” I said looking at the picture. “Hurry up and change so we can compare that one to the rest of them.”
“Whatever Dev. You’re just jealous that you can’t look this gorgeous,” she laughed as she went back into the changing room.
The next dress was a dark purple that went down a little past her knees. It hugged her curves and was tight in the upper area.
“I can barely move in this. It’s so uncomfortable, and I feel like such a skank. I like the blue one the best so far,” she whined.
“Shut up and let me take the picture. Okay, you can get out of the dress now and go put on the final one,” I said shooing her away.
“I call next!” Lennie said as Layla went back in.
Layla’s final dress was green and came shortly above her knees. It had straps that tied together around the nape of her neck. The hem of it was kind of poofy, but in a cute way.
“I still like the blue dress better,” Layla said as she turned around in a circle. In this one, the bottom is so poofy, I feel like I should be in the 60’s or something,” she joked. After I took the picture, I shooed her away to change and I brought up the pictures to review them.
“So what’s the verdict?” Layla asked as she came out holding the three dresses.
“I have to say that you looked absolutely gorgeous in the blue dress,” I said going over the pictures.
“Ditto,” Lennie said from behind my shoulder.
“Good, because I am absolutely in love with the blue one. I’ve found my dress. Your turn Lennie,” she said as Lennie scrambled for the changing room.
“For someone who really isn’t too girly, she is in a hurry to try on her dresses,” Layla laughed as she went to return the other two dresses to their original racks.
“I’m actually excited this year. I’m on the court and everything. What girl wouldn’t want a gorgeous dress for that?” Lennie called out.
Lennie’s first dress was red and strapless. It came to right above her knees and showed off her long legs. The next dress was black and came down a couple inches past her knees. There was a brooch pinned in between her breasts. The straps came up and tied around her neck, and the bottom of her dress was frilly. Her final dress was a soft yellow which complemented the tone of her skin. It came down to mid-calf with little tiny ruffles to make it slightly poof out so it wouldn’t cling to her legs, but not too poofy to over-do it.
“So what do you guys think?” she asked coming out to hear the verdict.
“I like the red one. It’s sassy and totally you,” Layla said looking at the picture.
“I actually liked the yellow one better,” I stated.
“Why the yellow one?” Lennie asked curiously.
“Well, the yellow one compliments your skin tone better. I think that it actually suits you better than the red one,” I said shrugging.
“Sorry Lay, I have to go with Devon on this one. The yellow one makes me feel so much prettier instead of the rough ‘n tough girl, ya know? It’s your turn Dev,” Lennie said while she went to put her dresses away.
I handed my camera over to Layla to take pictures while I changed. The first dress I changed into was red and strapless. It went down to my ankles. There were no decorations, it was just plain and simple. I took a look in the mirror before I went out and modeled it for them.
The second dress was purple, with just two simple straps going over my shoulder. The dress itself came down to my knees and was covered in glitter. When I came out and showed it off, Lennie put a hand up to her eyes.
“Do you think that you could find a dress that blinds people even more?” she joked.
The final dress was a dark blue. As I tried putting it on, it wouldn’t go up over my chest. I hate it when they make dresses too small up in the breast area. Seriously, not all girls have small boobs, and I hate that most dresses are made for girls with B cups or smaller. So I got dressed in my regular clothes and exited the changing room.
“Hey, what’s up with no third dress?” Layla said accusingly.
“It didn’t fit. There wasn’t enough room in the upper area. Girls and their small boobs,’ I muttered going to put the dresses away.
“Wait, don’t you want to know which we liked better?” Lennie called out.
“Not really, since I didn’t like either of them. Off to find more things to try on,” I called back to them.
That’s when it began. I tried on dress after dress, and they were either too small in the upper area, too big, or I just plain didn’t like them. Lennie and Layla paid for their dresses and we were off to check out what the rest of the stores had for homecoming dresses. We went to about 4 different stores after Macy’s, but still had found nothing.
“So I guess you were right when you said that we’d have to raid the whole mall to find the perfect dress,” I joked as we went into the food court. “I just never thought that it would be my fault that we would go in every store.”
“It’s perfectly fine. At least we get to spend more time together. Just us girls, no guys at all,” Layla said pulling us into a hug.
After getting a quick bite to eat, we tried one more store.
“I don’t know about you guys, but I’m getting tired of searching. If I don’t find anything here, I’ll just buy the one that looked the best,” I said while dragging myself into the store.
“Come on, have a little faith. It’s your senior year, and you’re on the homecoming court. I don’t know what girl wouldn’t want to have the perfect dress for that,” Lennie said while looking through the dresses.
“Thanks for your faith Lennie,” I mumbled. I was searching through the racks when I landed on a dress. Picking it up and holding out, my eyes felt like they were bugging out. “I think that I may have found it,” I said while rushing over to the changing room.
Lennie and Layla were right behind me as I scuttled to the changing room. Handing my camera over, I quickly went in one of the rooms, happy that this search could finally be over. I took the dress off of its hanger and put it on. I looked into the mirror, and liked what I saw.
“I really think that this is the one!” I called out to them.
“Then come out and let us look at it!” they said impatiently.
I walked out confidently. The dress was white, and had straps that tied around my neck. It came down to about my mid-calf point, and there were rhinestones on it. The trail started in the middle of the cleavage area and trailed down all the way to an inch from the bottom and then speared of and went along the hem of the bottom. I was absolutely in love with it, because it went great along with my tan.
“I think you’re right Dev,” Layla said taking the picture. “You look absolutely gorgeous in that dress. Now go change so you can see the picture and decide.”
“I don’t need to see the picture. This dress makes me feel like a princess, and this is the one that I choose,” I said going back to the changing stall.
“I think you should see the picture anyways. You are absolutely gorgeous!” Lennie called out. “If you didn’t have Adam, I would totally do you.”
I changed back into my regular clothes while Layla whined about Lennie not saying that about her. Oh how I missed hanging with my girlies. “Ok, let me see the picture,” I said coming out of the changing room. After they handed me the camera, my mouth hung open in shock, not believing that was really me in the picture.
“Told you that you were gorgeous,” Layla said over my shoulder.
“Aw, thanks. Well, it looks like today’s dress hunt is officially over. Now it’s back to my house for the rest of girl’s night out! Just as soon as we go to random stores in the mall,” I said making my way over to the check-out counter.
After paying for my dress, we decided to look around the rest of the mall. We went into stores like Hot Topic, Hollister, Aeropostale and other various stores. We each bought a brand new pair of pj’s for on Monday, it was pajama day. It was the perfect way to end a girl’s day out.
The original plan was that I was going to post this yesterday. But then there was a change of plans... Saturday I was at a Truck pull ALL day. You know how I like to have the next chapter done before I post the next one (like I wanted 16 done before I posted 15) because that's just how I am. And with the truck pull, I had absolutely no time to work on this, so I had to put it back a day.
So, I hope that you liked this chapter! The next couple chapters are going to start getting really good :D I can't wait to post chapter 16, because I really like it, but you're going to have to wait a few days for it. Lennie's one line in this one was my favorite. Writing this story, she is my favorite character.
I actually miss being in high-school and doing spirit week. My brother is a bummer, because the only day that he dressed up was on Friday when it was school colors day. Such a meaner... lol. I'm happy because I decorated my house for Halloween yesterday, and it looks pretty sweet.
i totally freaking love YOU, the FANS! because you give me so much confidence to write this story. If I didn't have as many fans as I do, I probably wouldn't be writing this story. I'm also working on a new story that will come out after this one is done with. But that won't for another couple weeks or so...
GO BROWNS! they totally just kicked Giant ass!! :D
Spread and Share the Love!
because it's the cool thing to do!
