Deal With a Vampire 23Authors Comments: I'm beginning to feel that it's useless trying to finish this, since basically only like 2 people are reading it.

I just want to actually take time to thank who ever reads this, as it is WAY overdue to finish it, and it means a WHOLE lot to me as a writer that you read this. Comments also help boost my confidence to write more stories. I am contemplating deleting my account because lately I've just been reading other's stories, and then my own stories barely get read. But enough about that, onto the story!
Chapter 23...
Just as Carlee promised, she did not make a decision between the two until she got to know each of them more. She would go to sporting events with Dan, while she would spend time studying and talking with Caiden. There wasn’t much time at basketball games to actually talk with Dan, but still she felt as though they were going nowhere. While as with Caiden, she grew closer to him every day, and her decision was made.
It was once again the last period of the day, a couple months after her first date with Dan that made all of this happen. Caiden sat at the same table that he always did in his usual seat. He waited for her to come and ask to sit with him, but instead she didn’t ask and just plopped down beside him.
“I choose you,” she stated as she opened up a textbook to start her homework.
Caiden stopped and blinked, unsure if he heard correctly. He raised an eyebrow and slowly turned his head to look at her as she was reading intently. “Was it me, or did you just say that you chose me?”
“Give Caiden a gold star. He understood what I said,” Carlee said grinning, still not looking at him yet.
“So, if you chose me,” he said choosing his words, “then there is only one thing left for me to say.” She finally looked away from her book and looked into his eyes. “Would you like to be my girlfriend Carlee?”
She giggled and acted as if she was thinking it over. “Well, there is this really cute guy who really likes me… Are you joking? Of course I would like to be your girlfriend,” she said as she flung herself at him.
The library soon filled with choruses of “sh”. Carlee blushed as she sat back in her seat, but still giddy with excitement. Caiden turned in his seat to face her and brought her close to him and rested his forehead against hers. “I would kiss you right now, but we’re in the Library, and I don’t want the librarian to kick us out of here,” he said laughing.
“How soon do you think until the whole school knows about us?” she asked as she looked around the library where several other students were texting away, while occasionally tossing a glance at Caiden and Carlee.
“Knowing the people in here, and how fast the word can spread in this school, I’d give it about ten to fifteen minutes,” he said as he turned back to the table to begin on his work.
Carlee went to start reading again, but froze. Caiden sensed it and looked over at her. She slowly turned to face him, worry shown on her face. “Caiden, what will happen when Dan finds out? I could have at least told him that I chose you before you asked me out. I’m a horrible person for doing this to him! I just knew that I wouldn’t be happy with him, and then I told you and it just… ah, I’m so stupid,” she said dropping her head on the table.
“You are not stupid,” he said rubbing her back. “Don’t worry, we’ll talk to him about it after school. Though I bet the ride home will be quite awkward.”
“I just hate that he’ll find out through the people texting instead of from us. I just want to get telling him over with.”
After the two actually working on homework and playing footsie every now and then, the time came for the bell to ring. They stood up and Caiden grabbed a hold of Carlee’s hand and started to walk towards the exit of the library. “We’ll do this together. Meet me at my car out in the student parking lot.”
“I’ll see you there.” She gave him a peck on the cheek and they went their separate ways to their lockers.
As Caiden walked down the hallway, he was receiving looks from just about everybody there, even some of the underclassmen who he didn’t know. “I was right that news would travel fast,” he thought to himself as he approached his locker. He saw Dan shut his locker and walk right past him, since Dan’s locker was right next to his since they were twins and all. With a sigh, Caiden opened his locker, and packed his bookbag and closed his locker, and then headed out towards the parking lot.
When Caiden came closer to the parking lot, he slowed down. Taking slow deliberate steps, he set out for Dan’s car, Carlee coming and joining him along the way. Together they made their way to the car for what was surely not to be good.
Dan was sitting on the trunk of the car staring out in front of him with a scowl plastered on his face. When Caiden and Carlee stopped a few feet away from them, he didn’t even acknowledge their presence. “So are you going to tell me what’s actually going on?” he asked not even looking at them.
“Dan, I was going to tell you later today when I got the chance, but as you know the people in this school are notorious with their cell phones.” She gave a half-hearted shrug as she looked over at Caiden. He was just looking at Dan, so she continued. “I was going to tell you that after spending time with each of you the past couple months, that I choose Caiden. It’s just that when I’m with you Dan, I don’t feel anything more than friends. But when I’m with Caiden, it feels like so much more.”
“It’s partially my fault,” Caiden said speaking up. “I should have let her tell you who she chose before I asked her out and then you had to find out by everyone else texting.”
Dan did something that they weren’t expecting him to. He smiled. “I’m actually glad that you chose him. Believe it or not, I think I like someone else. I don’t mean to be mean, but I noticed that when I hung out with you Carlee, it was well… boring.”
Carlee and Caiden let out a collective sigh of relief. “I felt the same exact way,” Carlee said laughing. “So who is it that you like?”
“I can’t tell you. Caiden might try to steal her,” Dan said looking pointedly at Caiden.
“That won’t happen,” Carlee and Caiden said at the same time. They looked at each other and laughed.
“Trust me, now that I have Carlee, I won’t be a threat to you anymore,” Caiden said as he wrapped Carlee in a hug. “We good now?” he asked holding out a hand to Dan.
Dan stared at the hand Caiden had stretched out to him, then back at Caiden. He smiled and then reached out and grabbed his hand. They shook hands and Caiden took and pulled Dan into a hug. “Thanks bro. I’ve missed hanging out with my brother,” he said patting his back as he pulled away.
“I’m glad that you two still love each other, but I have to get going. There was a meeting for track after school today. So, I’ll see you later,” Carlee said beginning to walk away.
“The meeting is today? I thought it was tomorrow,” Caiden said looking at Carlee as she shook her head. “Well, let’s go,” he said taking her hand and started walking back to the school.
“Wait for me,” Dan said as he caught up and went on the other side of Caiden. I think I want to see what this is about. Besides, if I leave, you won’t have a ride home,” he said to Caiden, who nodded his head in agreement.
“On to the meeting!” Carlee said cheerfully as she took off for the school.
A man with black hair and piercing blue eyes stepped out of the airport terminal and dialed a number on his cell as he hailed a taxi. Soon a taxi approached. The man hopped into the car and said, “To the Day Inn please.” He shut the door behind him and the cab was off. The person on the other line finally picked up.
“Hello sir,” said the voice.
“I am on my way to the hotel at this moment. I expect you to be there when I arrive to take me to the house. The house is ready, isn’t it?” he asked.
“Yes sir, the house is ready for your arrival. And everything is set up just how you instructed it to be.”
“Finally. After nearly 18 years, I get to go back home. I can just imagine the expressions on their faces when I see them,” he said laughing.
“I have good news.”
“What news do you have that could possibly be good?” he snapped.
An audible gulp was heard. “You don’t have to wait in order to see him. He has joined the school’s track team, so you could go to one of his meets and watch him.”
The man in the cab was silent as he processed the information. “You have actually given me something I can work with. I knew that I made a wise choice when I chose you as my accomplice.”
“Thank you Adrian,” said the other voice.
“I told you not to call me that when talking on the phone,” Adrian growled.
“I’m sorry, it slipped.”
“Just don’t let it happen again. I’ll see you at the hotel,” Adrian said as he hung up the phone.
“Everything is going according to plan. I just have to make sure that he is out of the way first so that everything will go according to plan. I promised that you would be mine Colleen, and now I’m coming back for you,” he thought smiling to himself.
OOOOH! Adrian's back!! What's gonna happen now? Just 2 chapters left! But it's not like anyone cares, because no one reads or rates this anyways :( You guys are seriously downing my confidence in writing.
