A New Kind of Good *Chapter 10*

Chapter 10
“What do we do now?” I asked sitting down on the edge of the fountain. “Hey, do you think we could look around the city?” I asked, looking back and forth at them hopefully.
Shrugging his shoulders, Tristan turned to Jordan and looked at him. “I don’t have anything better to do until we start training. How about you Jordan?”
“I actually have a lot to do at the house. After being trapped in that lamp for nearly 20 years, I have a lot of house work to catch up on. I will see you later,” Jordan said as he gave a bow and then disappeared.
“Wait, how can he just poof out of here? How is it that you are able to poof out of here but you’re not able to poof in here? That is so unfair!” I said staring at the spot where Jordan was just standing.
“Actually, you can poof in here. But the level of your power and ranking of how important you are only lets you able to transport yourself so far into the city. Just like I was able to transport to the city entrance,” Tristan said with a smirk.
“You mean I had to wait that long just to go down the platform and the watervator thing, when you can poof closer? What a waste. At least the ride down was interesting,” I muttered crossing my arms.
“Come on, let’s go exploring,” Tristan laughed as he took me by the hand and led me into the city.
We walked down the streets, gazing at the buildings. As we came to one that looked interesting, we decided to enter it. Upon entering, it looked as if was a store. There were many beautiful pieces of jewelry, along with a variety of a style clothes. Suddenly, a necklace caught my eye. I walked over to it and picked it up to admire it. There was a charm on it, about the size of a baseball. Its color was turquoise, which was on a blue chain. The charm was in the shape of an oval, but it was practically weightless.
“That indeed is a very beautiful necklace miss,” said a guy who came out of nowhere, whom I expected to be the shopkeeper.
“Yes it is,” I murmured as I twirled it around.
“There is a story that goes along with that necklace too,” he said while leaning over the counter, looking eager to tell the tale.
“I’d like to hear it,” I said setting the necklace down on the counter.
“It was said that this was a tear drop from one of the gods when they had to send Atlantis to the depths of the sea. There is a special power that comes from holding the charm, but no one has ever figured out. Countless people have bought this necklace to try and find out the secret of the special powers, but it keeps being returned the very next day. The people who bought it say that once they put it on, all they felt was terrible sadness and couldn’t bear it. So they sold it back to me.”
“Have you ever put the necklace on yourself to see if the people were telling the truth?” I asked raising an eyebrow at his story.
“That I have. I felt the same thing that everyone else felt. I felt like I was so empty inside, and all the sadness inside just made me want to die. When I took it off, I instantly felt like my old happy self. I don’t trust that necklace one bit,” he said eyeing it warily.
“Do you mind if I try it on?” I asked picking it back up.
“Go on ahead lass. But I warned you.”
As my hand touched the oval charm, I could have sworn that I felt a pulse, like the charm was somehow alive. Even before I had the necklace completely on, I felt something. It was a calming feeling, and when it was all the way on, I felt completely at peace.
When I grabbed a hold of the charm, it felt as if something was going through me. It was like a current flowing really fast. It wasn’t an electric feeling, but as if there was water flowing through me. I opened my mouth to say something, but when I did I saw my breath come out like I was out in cold weather, but I wasn’t cold at all.
“Alania, are you alright?” Tristan asked with concern.
“I’m fine,” I said as I could continue to see my breath. “Are you sure that everyone felt sadness when they put this on? The only feeling that I have is a sense of calm.”
“Lass, I think that you were meant to have this necklace,” the shopkeeper said with awe.
“I would love to buy it, but I don’t have any money on me. Besides, the money that I do have is probably the wrong kind of currency for down here,” I said slightly disappointed.
“I’ll buy it for her. How much do you want for the necklace?” Tristan asked getting out his wallet.
The shopkeeper shuffled back and forth behind the counter, thinking of what to say. “I usually ask for 100 galleons, but since it seems that the necklace was made for her, I’ll make it 50 galleons, just for you,” he said giving us a bright smile.
“That’s awfully nice of you sir. I hope that this won’t set you back,” I said clutching onto the charm as Tristan paid the man the money.
“As long as I know that the necklace will be in good hands, I’m happy. What is your name by the way lass?” he said as he opened the register and put the money in.
“I’m Alania,” I said flashing him a toothy grin.
The shopkeeper leaned onto the counter, resting his head on one of his hands. He began tapping his chin with his fingers. “Now where have I heard that name before?”
I looked over at Tristan and as his eyes met mine, I saw his eyes flash with warning, a feeling that I’m sure I also had. “I’ll leave you so you can think about it. Have a nice day,” I said as Tristan and I headed towards the door.
Just as we reached the door and opened it to step out, I heard him behind us. “Now I remember where I’ve heard that name. There is a proph-”
We didn’t give him time to finish as we booked out of there. I couldn’t help but laugh as we ran away from the shop and towards the center of the city. We stopped when we reached the water fountain. Tristan sat down on the edge of the fountain and patted the seat next to him, motioning for me to sit down.
Panting, I sat down next to him and leaned against his shoulder. “I feel sorry for just running out of there like that. Sure, he was a nice guy, but I really do not need so many people knowing about the prophecy being about me.”
“Well, if you’re going to be Queen, you’ll have to get used to it. Many people will be chasing after you to try and talk to you,” he said as he ruffled my hair.
“That’s not very funny,” I said giving him a slight shove. Suddenly something caught the corner of my eye. Looking into the water fountain, I saw a jewel. It looked like it was a diamond, but I wasn’t sure. As I reached out to grab it, Tristan slapped my hand away.
“What are you doing? You can’t remove items from the water fountain,” he said in disbelief.
“Even if that item happens to be a diamond or some other sort of jewel?” I whine as I pointed to where the supposed diamond was.
“Yes, even if it was a dia-. Wait, what is that?” he asked as he looked at where I was pointing. The water had gone from being still to being a small whirlpool of sorts. “Alania, take your hand away really quick,” he said while still staring at the water.
I quickly moved my hand away from the water and the whirlpool eventually slowed down and stopped. I looked from my hand to the water, and then back again, not believing that I really did that. Well, I actually believed it a little bit, since it is said that I have the power to control all of the elements.
“Well, that was interesting,” he said as he put an arm around me.
“Very,” I replied staring at my hand. “I think that having this charm helped boost my water abilities. But for now, do you think you could take me back home for a little bit so I can take a nap? I didn’t get enough sleep before I had to come here,” I said yawning.
“I suppose I could let you take a nap before training. We do have all day, and you need to have plenty of rest, because training isn’t easy,” he said while standing and pulling me up next to him. “Ready?” he asked slipping his arms around me.
“Let’s go,” I said trying to hide another yawn.
“That’s her! She is the future Queen of the supernatural world!” I heard a voice say excitedly. I looked over to where the voice was coming from and I saw the shopkeeper standing there with a small group of other people. A few of their jaws dropped while others just outright stared, and some were even jumping up and down.
“Could we please leave, like now?” I whispered to Tristan fiercely while trying to keep a smile on my face, trying to to upset the people and make them think I was mean.
Looking at them again, I saw that they were starting to run towards us. I started tugging on Tristan’s shirt, urging him to go, but it looked like he was frozen. Clenching my fists, I warmed my hands up a little bit and placed them on his arms, but it did nothing, he didn’t even budge. So I gave him a quick kiss on the lips, and that seemed to break it. He looked from me and then he heard the noise coming from the people so he looked over there. His eyes widened in shock, and then just as they were about 10 feet away, I closed my eyes and I felt us finally disapparate away.
When I opened my eyes, I was in my room holding on to Tristan. “That was a close one,” I said as I went over and flopped down onto my bed. “I did not want to be mauled by a group of people,” I said laughing.
“Getting run over by a group like that definitely would not have been fun,” he agreed plopping down next to me.
“I wonder how he managed to get a group like that together so quick,” I said laughing as I lied down while setting my alarm to wake up in a couple hours. As I was settling down, Tristan snuggled up to me. “What are you doing?”
“I was going to take a nap too, since I have nothing else better to do. Unless you don’t want me to take a nap with you,” he said slightly hurt as he sat up.
I patted the space next to me. “It’s absolutely fine if you want to take a nap with me. I was just curious is all. Usually you’re here and then you’re gone. It’s the first time that you’re actually just staying.”
“All day is dedicated to training and just being with you. So deal with it,” he said and I could feel his smirk as he snuggled against me again.
“I plan on it,” I murmured as I fell asleep.
A few hours later I woke to the buzzing of my alarm. I struggled to reach for it to shut off the annoying sound, but it was hard to do with Tristan’s arm wrapped around me. I was finally able to turn it off, and sat up.
I turned to my side looking at Tristan. As I watched him just lay there, I thought of an idea. Careful not to wake him up, I reached behind me to grab a pillow. I slowly raised it above my head, and the next moment I slammed it down on his head. “Time to wake up sleepy head,” I said laughing as I hit him again.
Grumbling while lying face down, he grabbed hold of the pillow as I went to hit him again and yanked it away from me. He threw it across the room and then sat up sleepily, giving me a glare. “Was that really necessary to wake me up?” he asked rubbing his head.
“Come on, it was just a little fun. It shouldn’t have hurt that much,” I said while pouting.
“Just a little fun?” he said while a devilish grin appeared. “Then you wouldn’t mind if I did this,” he said as he picked up a pillow and whacked me with it.
“Wait, I’m unarmed,” I squeaked as I jumped off the bed and ran to where he threw the other pillow to. “You do know what this means?” I asked picking the pillow up and fluffing it.
He got off the bed, pillow in hand and slowly walked towards me. “I do know what it means. Pillow fight!” he yelled as he charged at me.
I quickly stepped out of the way as he kept running straight while he tried hitting me. Since I side-stepped his attack, his momentum carried him on and he ran head first into the wall, making a loud thud.
“I can’t believe that you just ran into the wall. Who does that?” I said doubling over with laughter. I wiped away a tear in my eye as he stood up.
“You’re getting it now,” he said as he came at me again. This time I wasn’t able to dodge him as he came at me. He actually tackled me and I fell over backwards taking him down with me. “I told you you would get it,” he said while smirking at me.
“Alania, what’s going on in there,” I heard a muffled voice on the other side of the door say. The doorknob slowly turned and the door slowly swung open and Jenna peeked her head in through the opening. She looked around the room, and I guess she spotted us because she let out a squeak. “I’ll just leave you two alone,” she blushed and shut the door.
“I think that it’s time to get ready for training,” I said pushing him off of me.
“I guess so,” he said as he rolled over on to his side and stood up. He held out his hand to help me up and I accepted it. He pulled me up with such force that I ended up in his arms. “That was fun. We should do it again sometime,” he whispered, his breath hot on my neck before letting go of me and walking to the door. “I’ll be downstairs when you’re ready. Don’t be too long now.”
“Whatever,” I replied as he shut the door. I changed into a grey tank top and white shorts, and put my hair into a ponytail and went down the stairs. “Let’s go,” I said walking over towards him and poking him in the shoulder. He stood up and grabbed my hands. With a nod towards Jenna, we were off.
So.... I FINALLY got this done!! GO ME!! lol... Sorry for the wait, but first my power cord for my laptop broke, and then I had absolutely NO inspiration to write this whatsoever, and then I was busy doing other things. People who read this usually notice at the end I like to rant a bit. It's because I LOVE to hear you guys talk! I want you to talk about things, like your fav part of the chapter, what could I do to improve, what you would like to see, who your fav character is and why, just TALK! :D it makes me happy!
I won't be able to post a new chapter that often, since I do get quite busy. I don't know how often I will post tho... and right now I have the song "I Have a Dream," in my head. It's by ABBA, but I saw "Mamma Mia" and the song was in there, and I cant stop listening to it!
