A New Kind of Good *Chapter 9*

A violent pounding on my door woke me up the next morning. “It’s time to get your lazy arse up if we’re going to see the Oracle,” Jordan yelled from the other side of the door.

I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes as I sat up. “I’m up, just give me a couple minutes and I’ll be downstairs,” I called back, looking around the room as it was still dark outside.

As I heard his footsteps retreating down the hall, I let out a yawn and stretched. “What time is it anyway? It feels really early?” I grumbled to myself and glanced at my watch. My eyes about popped out of my head when I saw that it was 4:30. That is way too early for me. I like to get up around 7:00-7:30, that way I still get a decent amount of sleep but there is still a lot of the day left to do things.

Walking out of my room, I accidentally slammed my door when I went to close it. As I set off down the hall, Jenna’s door opened and her head popped out. “What’s going on?” she asked with a sleepy yawn.

“Nothing, just go back to sleep Jen. It’s too early to be awake,” I told her groggily.

“I’m confused. I’m going back to bed,” she said as she closed the door.

“I wish I could go back to sleep,” I muttered as I headed down the stairs.

Jordan was in the kitchen, don only who know what while whistling some tune. “Why did I have to get up at 4:30 in the morning Jordan?” I complained as I walked into the kitchen.

“The Oracle is a very bust person. It can take hours just to talk to him, and the earlier we go, the quicker we can get this over with,” he said setting a plate on the table. “I’ve made you a nice hearty breakfast, so eat up.”

“Thanks Jordan, it looks really good,” I said sitting down at the table and drooling over the food. I could really get used to having him around if he always made such delicious meals.

After I finished my breakfast, I went upstairs and brushed my teeth and then changed into a nice looking attire. I didn’t want to look like a slob when I met the Oracle. It was about 5:10 when I went back downstairs to find Jordan.

“Hey Jordan, I’m ready to go!” I called out while walking into the kitchen. Looking around, I saw no one in there. I went back out into the living room, trying to think of where he could be. “Jordan? Where are you?” I called out to no one in particular.

No one answered, so I went and sat down on one of the couches. I leaned back into the couch, getting relaxed. There was still no sign of Jordan, so I started to play with my fire power, lighting my hand up, forming a fireball and crushing it.

I was so engrossed with playing with my fireball that when I heard a loud poof right in front of me, automatically I threw a fireball at the sound. “Were you trying to kill me lass?” Jordan asked in disbelief.

“I’m sorry Jordan, you just caught me off guard,” I said meekly.

“I’m happy that I’m on your good side,” he said looking at the wall where there was now a scorch mark. “So, are you ready to go then?”

“Ready as I’ll ever be,” I sighed as I stood up. “So how are we going to get there? Do you have some kind of magic carpet?” I said sarcastically.

“Ha, ha, ha. That was real genius. No, I do not have a flying carpet. I have a flying vacuum,” he said laughing. “No, but really I am a genie. I can just poof us there. Now come here so we can go.”

I walked over to Jordan and linked my arm with his. The next moment when I opened my eyes, I had to blink since the sun was shining right in my eyes. Looking around, I saw absolutely nothing for there was water as far as I could see, no land in sight. In a panic I quickly looked down and saw that I was standing on the water as seagulls flew overhead us screeching.

“Um, Jordan, why are we standing on water in the middle of nowhere?” I asked annoyed and a little nervous. I was standing on my tiptoes ad holding on to his shoulders, making sure I wouldn’t somehow fall in.

“There’s no need to hold on to me lass,” he said as some kind of cane suddenly appeared in his hands. “You won’t fall into the water. It is actually just a regular platform that is disguised to look like water when ships and planes go by it.”

He briefly closed his eyes for concentration I guess and tapped the water or platform with five times with the bottom of his cane. The platform began to shake and there was a noise like bees buzzing all around us. I noticed that the water level was getting higher around us.

As I glanced down at my feet, I realized that the platform was actually going down, but I wondered why the water wasn’t toppling onto the platform. Curiously as we began to pick up speed and went further down, I went to the edge to reach out and touch the water. But instead of touching the water, my hand connected with glass instead. “It figures,” I mumbled to myself as Jordan just shook his head and laughed. “Which body of water are we in anyways?”

“We are in the middle of the Atlantic Island dearie,” he said not facing me.

Riding down on the platform, or as I would call it some sort of elevator, gave me great amusement. As I stood at the edge of the watervator (since I still don’t know what to call it) looking out into the ocean, fishes came swimming up to the glass. I made faces at them, and once as I ran around the platform circle, one of the fishes followed me. It was cool, that and seeing all sorts of fish that I had never seen before.

The further we went down, the darker it became, but at a certain depth lights came on and lit up the watervator. I looked at my watch and saw that we have been going down this thing for nearly five minutes. “When is this thing going to stop?” I said in a bored voice.

“Right now,” he said back dully. Right after, I felt myself jolt. I heard a whoosh sound and saw that a door opened to reveal a tunnel.

“You mean we’re not there yet?” I complained.

“Almost, we just have to go through this tunnel, which shouldn’t take too long since they finally installed the new transportation system.”

Our means of transportation looked like a giant bowl. It was white and round, and shaped like a bowl, but sitting on tracks. As we sat down and buckled in, the bowl took off.

Down the tunnel looked too far away, so I glanced up at the top of the tunnel’s ceiling and saw that it was glass. I looked up and around the ceiling, but as my eyes traveled in the direction that we were heading, I gasped. There in front of me was a giant city surrounded by a large glass shell.

“Jordan, look!” I said excitedly as I pointed to the city. “It’s just like Atlantis!”

“I would hope so, because that is Atlantis,” he said laughing.

“I can’t believe that it actually exists! This is so exciting! I’m shaking from excitement! I wonder why it’s even down here,” I rambled to myself.

I was still rambling about my excitement as we finally neared the end of the tunnel. After the ride finally stopped and we got out, another door opened leading into the city entrance. There was a large fountain right in front. Buildings were tall as trees, glistening white as snow, but you could tell they were old as vines wrapped around them.

Jordan pulled me along to the right where there was a building that said “Main Business” on the top of it. Walking into the building gave me chills. Everything in there was white, from the floors, to the walls, and even the ceiling. A single circular island desk was placed in the center of the room. The desk was of course white.

Inside the circular is land desk was a woman. Her skin was a really pale blue, which was accompanied by platinum blonde hair and piercing blue eyes. “What can I help you with today?” she said in a monotone voice.

“Yes, we’re here to see the Oracle. I’m his cousin Jordan, and this is Alania,” he said gesturing towards me.

“I see,” she replied as a screen appeared in front of her. “I believe that he was expecting you as he said to leave this time frame open. Please step on the blue “X” over there to the right, and it will take you there,” she said pointing to the right where there was a blue X.

“Thank you,” I said to her as we walked over to the X. “What do we do now?” I asked stopping in front of it and staring down at it dumbfoundly.

“Didn’t you hear her? We step on it, now come on,” he said holding out his hand to me.

Grabbing his hand, we stepped onto the blue X. We were instantly transported to a different area. Luckily it was easier on our eyes as not everything was white. Instead, the whole room was like an ocean blue. It seemed as if there was a slight mist floating around in the room, as I couldn’t see the whole room too well.

“Welcome,” a booming voice called across the room and through the mist. “It’s about time you came to visit me cousin.” A figure emerged from the mist wearing all white.  He was wearing a white toga. A white beard went down to the top of his chest, and he had sparkling blue eyes, which held laughter in them at the time. He walked over to Jordan and enveloped him in a big bear hug.

Letting go, he turned towards me. “So, this must be Alania. My dear, what an honor to finally meet you. So what can I do for you?”

My mind went blank from shock. I mean, I was standing in front of the ORACLE! It was just amazing. I opened my mouth to speak, but the only thing that came out was, “Why is Atlantis down here?”

“That’s not why we came down here!” Jordan hissed at me.

“Let the girl go, it’s only for fun,” he said to Jordan. “As to your question, Atlantis is down here because after the gods moved Atlantis to the middle of the ocean, we had such advanced technology that everyone tried stealing it. It was getting over-run and it was turning into a horrible city. Plus, people would sometimes come just to see me and want to know what was in their future. It just doesn’t work that way. Also I could never get a moment’s rest. So we just decided it would be best if Atlantis disappeared until the rest of the world caught up. But with today’s politics and narrow mindedness, that won’t be any time soon,” he said shaking his head sadly.

“Wow, thanks for telling me,” I said finally being able to get rid of my nerves. “The real reason that we are here to see you sir, is that I heard that there was a prophecy about me, and I want to know what it is exactly,” I said my voice shaking slightly.

“I would like to hear it too,” said a voice from behind me. I turned around and saw Tristan smiling at me. “You’re here!” I said as I ran and jumped into his arms.

“Tristan, it is nice to see you again,” the Oracle said giving him a nod. “So he must be the one,” he muttered to himself.

“So you want to know what your prophecy says?” he asked as a book appeared out of nowhere and hovered right in front of him. Putting on a pair of glasses, he opened the giant book and began flipping through the pages. “Let me see, let me see,” he muttered as the pages just flew by. “Ah, here it is. Let’s have a look, shall we?”

We all gathered next to the Oracle to take a look at the book. He put his hands out in front of him, and when I snuck a glance at him, his head was titled black and his eyes were now all white and glowing. He started speaking in a really low and creepy voice.

“On the night a week after the most powerful of evil has once again risen, the daughter of the witch with a goddess name will do battle. In this battle, it will be decided who shall become the next Queen of the supernatural world. The daughter will possess the talent to control all of Earth’s elements and be the most powerful witch in the known universe. Along with her King that will watch over her closely, it will be the dawning of a new era.”

Slowly his hands dropped to his sides and he untilted his head. As he shook his head, his eyes returned to their original color. “Did you find out what you want to know?” he asked, his voice back to normal.

“Yes, thank you,” I said softly. It was basically just as everyone had told me, except that hearing it from the Oracle himself in that voice was something else.

“You’re very welcome. I have a good feeling about you Alania. Go out there and be a force to reckon with,” he said giving me an encouraging smile.

“Thanks,” I said, not sure of what else to say. “Well, I think that we had best be going now. Thank you for letting us see you.”

“It was a pleasure. Tristan, please come here,” he said as we started backing away. He whispered something in Tristan’s ear and looked over at me. I saw Tristan look over at me too and just gave a big grin. After a pat on the shoulder, Tristan came over to us.

I looked around, trying to figure out how we were supposed to get out of there. “Um excuse me, but how do we exit this place?” I said a little embarrassed.

“Oh, there is a big white X on the floor over there. Step on it and you will leave this room,” he said laughing.

“Thanks!” I said as I grabbed onto Tristan and Jordan’s hand and stepped onto the big white X. We were immediately transported to somewhere else, but it was not the building that we went into first. In fact, we were outside of it.

“Well, that went well,” I said as I shrugged my shoulders.

I have to start this rant off with saying that I do NOT like the new layout of Testriffic. The only good thing I found about it so far is that you can subscribe to other people's things, and then when you post it, they have the new text thing... like whoa. It would be better if we could actually EDIT our stories on here. Plus, for the story type what makes me angry is that they don't have all the genres, like fistion, nofiction, short story and so on. GRRRR... lol

Anyways, I once again got MORE comments than rates, which REALLY irritates me! because I have known that some people rate but don't comment, therefore there are a number of people who don't rate, while actually it looks like they did. GRRRR, so PLEASE RATE OR ELSE! Also, what are your fav characters in this so far? Personally, I liked writing Griffin the best so far :DSealed OMG!!! THEY HAVE SMILEYS!!
