        The drive to Zap Zone was uneventful, except since I was the last one to the car, I was the one who had to sit up front with Tyler. On the way there, he would look over at me every once and a while and smile, then squeeze my left knee. It was like he knew a super sweet secret, but couldn’t tell me. Oh well though, what are you going to do?

        About 15 minutes, we finally arrived there. We went inside and saw that the high schoolers were there once again. At least there weren’t that many of them this time. Though, the cute guy was there, which made me excited. Hey, you can’t blame a girl for looking, can you? 

       We went up to the register and paid for two games, because that is how many we usually play, unless we feel like playing more. We had to wait for the previous game to get done before we could go in, so we were waiting there for about five minutes.

        Now, at Zap Zone, laser tag isn’t all they have. They have games in the lobby of it for those who want to play. Like, they have the “Wonder Wheel,” which I only point out because I like it when the game itself says it. I think that it’s really amusing. They also having racing games. Thankfully no one was stoned when we went this time.

         Once a couple of them went stoned, and it was so hilarious! I can’t describe in words how funny it was! It was one of the best times ever.

        Anyways, we were looking at the games, when the guy called for a certain color ticket. So our group went over and gave him our tickets and went inside the room, waiting to sort out who would be on whose team. It turned out that it was my group against the high school people, since there was an even amount of both of us. The colors to choose from were red or blue, so we chose red, because you can’t be seen as easily.

        Both Kim and I were members, so we had little key things that we plugged into our vests. It would either say, ”Welcome Zap Zone member!” or make a noise like that of how they start horse races.

        Mine made noises. It’s fun to keep plugging it in so it keeps repeating the noise. We kept doing that until it was time to go in. The sound went off and we rushed inside, trying to get away from the other team.

        The first game was pretty uneventful, except for occasionally the cute high school guy would bump into me, and sometimes I think it was on purpose. Even though we were on opposite teams, we didn’t shoot at each other when we bumped into each other.

        I was just standing in a corner, looking to see if anyone was coming through the hole in the wall when all of a sudden a large body was pressed up against mine. It was him, and I felt his breath hot on my neck as he whispered in my ear, “Meet me outside after the game is over.” I just nodded my head in agreement.

        From out of nowhere, Tyler came around the corner and shot at him. I really hope that he didn’t see me. How embarrassing would it be if he saw me up against this guy just merely 40 minutes after I had told him that I was in love with him? That would not be good, for he would probably think I was some kind of whore or something. And that would not bode well for whatever chance I would possibly have of getting him to like me.

        He went one way after it was clear, and I went the other. Just a couple of minutes after we separated, the gong went off, signaling that the game was over. I went back to the entrance and did that thing so they could register my score, and I took my vest off. Kim and Joyce were already out there, so I asked one of them to grab my score card for me and I headed outside.

        It wasn’t too bad outside, for it being January, but that might be because I was all warm and stuff from the game. Anyways, it felt nice to be outside. A couple seconds after I was outside, he came outside.

         He leaned casually up against the window and looked me over. “So, we’ve been playing against each other for a while now, and we don’t even know each other. I think it’s time to change that. I am Brian Mitchells.”

        “I am Melanie Tanders. Nice to finally meet you Brian.” I said going over to shake his hand.

        He took my hand in a firm grip. I’ll admit that it scared me a bit. “So Melanie, do you have a boyfriend?” he asked.

        “No,” I said, “but…”

        I didn’t get to finish what I was saying as he pulled me into him. “Good,” he said he kissed me.

        It was a nice kiss, but kissing him felt so wrong! I mean, I am in love with Tyler! I don’t WANT to kiss anyone else.

         I broke it off. Brian wasn’t expecting the kiss to be over so soon. “Why did you pull away?” he asked, kind of hurt.

        “Brian, I’m just not ready for a relationship right now,” I told him.

        “And why is that?” he asked.

        I didn’t really want to tell him this, but oh well. “Well, I am in love with another guy,” I said looking him in the eyes.

        He just laughed. “Wait, so you are in love with a guy, but yet you aren’t dating him? That’s rich.” He said.

        I was offended. “Yes, I am in love with him. He likes someone else, and he is one of my best friends. I guess I just fell in love along the way,” I shrugged.

        “Well, that’s too bad for you. But we don’t have to be in a relationship to make out,” he said pulling me back up against him and kissing me again.

        I pulled away and slapped him. “Don’t you DARE touch me, you effing… jerk!” I yelled at him. “I told you that I am in love with someone else! Now leave me the hell alone!” I said turning to head back in.

         I had barely taken a step when I realized that there was someone standing outside of the door. And who was it? Yes, it was Tyler.

        “You sure told him off,” he said holding the door open for me with an amused smile on his face.

        “Um, thanks. How much of that did you hear?” I asked him.

        “A pretty good portion of it,” he said. He put an arm around my shoulder and dragged me in close to him. “Let’s go play the next game, shall we?” he said leading me over to the main area.

        “It sounds like a plan to me. But, could you do me a favor, and try to keep him away from me?” I asked as Brian walked in the door behind us.

        “We are now taking the next group of people,” said the guy taking our tickets as we stepped inside the room.

        Once again, it was our group against the high schoolers. As we put on our guns, Brian was giving me a death glare. I had to do something fast, otherwise I don’t know if I would make it through the game alive or not.

        “Hey guys,” I said huddling my group together. “I need you to do me a favor and protect me from the big guy.”

        Everyone turned around and saw that he was giving me the death glare.

        “Geez Mel, what did you do to piss him off?” Noah asked.

        “There’s no time for that, the game is about to start. I just really need your help,” I said begging them.

        “Fine,” they all said as the sound went off that signaled the start of the game. We all went in separate directions, except that Tyler had decided to follow me.

        We were walking around a corner, when suddenly we heard a sound. The next thing I knew I was being pushed up against the wall, and Tyler was right up against me. “Is this really necessary?” I asked him.

         “Very necessary,” he whispered in my ear. A moment later I was released, and we continued our way around the outside edge of the arena.

        Right then, from behind the corner emerged Brian. While he was busy shooting at Tyler, I shot him.

         Brian saw me and slowly came towards me as I backed up into the corner of the wall away from him. Tyler quickly came in between us.

        “What do you want pretty boy?” Brian asked.

        “Leave her alone,” Tyler said in a menacing voice.

        Brian gave a huff. “Fine, but I’ll find her later,” he said as he walked away.

        “Thank you so much Tyler,” I said as he turned around to face me.

        “No problem,” he said coming closer to me. And then once again I was stuck between him and the wall, but only this time I was in the corner, and I was facing him.

        “He’s gone for now. Don’t you think we should go to another spot?” I asked him.

        “No, this spot is perfect” he said with a gleam in his eyes.

        “Perfect? Perfect for what?” I asked him.

        “This,” he said as he leaned in and kissed me.
