        I couldn’t really be in love with him, could I? After all, we only met in September, and it is now the beginning of January. I thought it would take more time than that. I seriously am not in love am I?

        “Then why were you so relieved when Joyce and Noah showed up eh?” the voice in my head argued. “And why did it feel so uncomfortable when Jack had his hand on your leg? Tell me about that, and how when Tyler did it, it felt totally natural. I just don’t get you,” the voice said as it gave a snort.

        The next thing that I knew, there was a hand in my face, snapping their fingers at me. “Hello? Melanie? Are you in there?” came Joyce’s voice.

        I was shaken back to reality. Everyone was looking at me with concern in their eyes, well, all except for Jack anyways.

        “Yeah, I’m here. What’s up?” I asked as if I hadn’t been tuned out of the conversation.

        “We were getting a little worried about you. It was like you were off in la la land. You didn’t even protest when I made a crack about you,” said Noah.

        “Wait, what? You made a crack about me? Was it funny or mean? Come on, I want to know!” I demanded.

        “No way! Are you crazy? Getting off clean on something like that? Nuh-uh,” he said shaking his head.

        “What-ever then,” I said pouting. “I’ll just get Joyce to tell me what you said later when you have gone away,” I said grinning.

        “Well, at least then I won’t get into any trouble for it,” he smirked.

        I took a glance around at everyone’s plates, and saw that they were just about empty. Perfect! I could suggest that we all leave, because I really need to get outside and get some fresh air. While they take the tunnel, I’ll just go outside instead, so I can be alone and get my thoughts together.

        “Hey, I’m ready to leave, how about you guys?” I asked.

        “You took the words right out of my mouth,” said Tyler as he patted me on the shoulder. “What do you say guys? You ready to leave yet?”

        The other three just looked amongst themselves. “No, we’re not ready yet. We still want to get dessert and talk. You two go on without us,” Joyce said.

        “Ok, we’ll see you guys later,” Tyler said standing up.

        I silently followed suit, and we took our trays to the bussing area. This was not how it was supposed to go! I was supposed to walk alone, so I could get my thoughts together! But now, I have to walk with Tyler, and I’m sure that he’s going to try and talk to me.

        We put our trays on the belt, and then made our way to the front door. We stepped outside and fell into step with each other. It was silent for about 30 seconds before I couldn’t stand it anymore.

        “What was up with that back there?” I demanded.

        “What was up with what?” he asked like he hadn’t a clue.

        “You deciding to rub my leg! That’s what,” I stated in a huff. “I can’t believe that you did that!”

        “Well, I saw Jack do it, and I didn’t want him to have all the fun,” he said smiling and looking over at me.

        I couldn’t help but smile back. “But that doesn’t mean that you had to do that,” I replied.

        “You’re right, I didn’t have to do that,” he said grinning. “I just could have done this instead,” he said stopping where he was.

        He grabbed my wrist then pulled me up against him. He did that thing in the movies where the guy takes the girl and does that thing where she ends up leaning backwards, and then he kissed me. He really kissed me, and with such passion. I think that I was the one being kissed senseless. But that was okay with me.

        After we broke the kiss, he pulled me back up against him. He wrapped his arms around my waist as I put my arms around him and rested my head against his chest, and he rested his head on top of mine. We stood there embraced like that for a good minute or two, but to me it felt like it was only a second, and I didn’t ever want to let go. But yet, we had to get back to the dorms, for it was freezing outside.

        We started walking again, my brain working in overdrive. Why did he just kiss me like that? I thought that he liked someone else, so why kiss me? I just had to know! 

       “Tyler, why did you just kiss me?” I asked.

        He blushed. “I don’t know, so can we forget about it?” 

       This pissed me off. “Forget it? Just like I am supposed to forget about the one from last night? How can I do that when you kiss me the way you just did? And why did you kiss me like that? I thought that you liked someone else,” I demanded. 

       “Just forget about it,” he said, anger starting to show. “It doesn’t matter anyways.”

        “Why wouldn’t it matter?” I said, grabbing him and making him face me.

        “Because you’re with that Jack guy!” he yelled.

        “I am not with Jack! I don’t even like him like that!” I shouted back.

        “Really? You don’t like him like that?” he said somewhat calm.

        “No, I don’t,” I calmly replied.

        “And why not?” he asked, stepping closer to me.

        “Because, I’m in love with someone else,” I said looking away.

        Tyler came closer until he was right in front of me. He tilted my chin so that I was looking at him in the eyes. “Melanie, who are you in love with?” he said in a whisper.

        I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I was trying to figure out what to say when my mouth betrayed me. “You,” I said.

        I opened my eyes in horror. I just gasped and said, “Sorry,” and ran away. I didn’t stop running until I got back to the building of the dorms. I didn’t see Tyler anywhere, and I was thankful, for I couldn’t face him after what I had just told him.

        I was so wracked with emotions, that I had a hard time opening the door that led from the lobby to the inside of the dorms. I took the stairs, that way I would have more time to think things out, and besides, if I took the elevator, I might have had to ride with someone, and I really wasn’t social at the moment.

        I finally reached the fourth floor after a minute or two, and I was a lil tired, since I basically ran up them. Luckily my room wasn’t that far down the hall. I unlocked the door and went inside and crashed on my bed. I didn’t bother to lock the door, because I was still awake, and I didn’t plan on going to sleep any time soon.

        I was lying on my bed for about ten minutes when the door opened and Joyce walked in, followed by Noah and Tyler.

        “Where is Jack?” I asked.

        “He said that he had homework to do, and he’ll catch up with you later.” Joyce said.

        “I see,” I said. I felt guilty leaving him there, but then I wanted to leave. “So, what’s the plan?” I asked them.

        “We’re going to Zap Zone. You coming?” Noah asked.

        “I don’t know guys. I don’t know if I feel up to it,” I lied.

        “Well, if you don’t go, then I won’t go,” said Tyler coming over to the bed. “And I’m the one driving. So, if you don’t go, then no one does, and you don’t want that on your conscience, do you?” he asked.

        “That is not fair! Why do I have to go in order for you to go?” I asked him.

        The next thing I knew, I was being pinned underneath him on my bed. He was staring into my eyes with such intensity, but yet I couldn’t look away. “You just have to go. That’s the way it is,” he said daring me to do something.

        “Fine, I’ll go, but only so they can go,” I said.

        Tyler gave me a wicked smile and got off. “Cool, now get ready, and let’s go!”

        I put on my Zap Zone shirt, the one I made just for going there. I know it might be a little corny, but I was a member there, and I had my own code name, so I wanted to make my own shirt. So, what if I’m a dork? I already know that, okay?

        After we all got ready, we set out for Zap Zone, which was to be a memorable night indeed.
