It was a long ride home for Tonya, thinking about the series of events that had occurred that day. Even though her parents tried to talk to her about what happened, she refused to speak. After all, they weren't going to find out anymore from her than they already had from the cops and she'd been interrigated for hours. By now, she was so sick of talking about it and she thought her parents would understand that, but they didn't.

Once they got home, they were greeted by a slew of reporters all asking the same thing, "How do you feel Tonya?" But she wasn't in the mood to answer any of their questions and neither were her parents. Her dad went to grab her to protect her from the mob of reporters, but Tonya just pulled away from him and took off running to the front porch. She pulled opened the door and slammed it in her paren'ts faces as they reached the front door.

She raced up the stairs to her bedroom and slammed that door, too. She flipped on the tv, only to find that their story was all over the news and on every channel. She angrily jumped up and turned it off, turning on her radio instead. Much to her dismay, every radio station was covering the story too. She'd had it! She stormed off her bed and slung her radio into the floor, shattering it.

By then, her parents who initially decided to give her some space, came up the stairs to find out what had happened. They banged on her door, pleading with her to open it and tell them what had occurred, what had broken. Tonya's answer was simple, "Leave me alone!", she shouted. Her father, not knowing how to respond, turned to his wife and urged her to join him downstairs, giving their daughter some space. "I'm not sure that's a good idea, Vern. She obviously needs us!" "She'll come to us when she's ready, Sissy. There's nothing more we can do." He put his arm around his wife and led her down the stairs into their living room to have coffee and discuss their daughter.

Tonya, meanwhile was already on the phone with Libby. "Thank God I have a phone in my room", she told Libby, "I can't stand the sight of my parents right now." "Yeah, I know how you feel", Libby said. "All they want is for me to keep telling them the same things over and over again and I'm so sick of it." "You know," Tonya said, "I blame my parents for this. We argued this morning about my car. They didn't want me to have one and I guess they still don't. If I did have a car, none of this would've happened. We wouldn't have even been stuck on that damn bus!!" "Yeah, I know exactly how you feel, Tonya. Believe me, I really do."
