"We gotta get outta here now!", Derrick stated as he heard Logan locking them in. "How are we supposed to do that?", said Tonya. "he heard the rock when you threw it! That's why he came down here!"

Just then they heard the front door close and Logan hustling down the stairs. "He left!", shouted Libby. Now's our chance! He must be going back to the bus!" "She's right! Let's get this wall down!", said Derrick. Everyone but Laurie jumped up to begin their work on the wall. Laurie was still in shock and disbelief over Ben and was still holding his dead body in her lap, crying and kissing him gently every so often.

They began beating on the wall but it didn't seem to be enough. "Look for more rocks", instructed Derrick. They searched the room and gathered up the biggest rocks they could find and joined together and started hurling them at the wall. Piece by piece, the wall crumbled to the ground until there was just enough room for them to get through.

"Come on!", Derrick shouted. "Let's go before he comes back!" One by one, they climbed through the hole in the wall until they were all across, except for Derrick and Laurie. "I can't leave him here!", Laurie shouted. "You HAVE to!", Derrick argued. "There's nothing more you can do for him now but honor his last wishes. He would've never wanted you to die too!" Laurie cried silently, knowing that Derrick was right but not wanting to leave Ben behind. "Come on, Laurie", he shouted as he moved Ben's head to the floor and grabbed on to Laurie's hand. "We have to go NOW!"

With that, Laurie came to her feet and followed Derrick through the hole. Once in the room, they saw a door leading to another end of the house but none of them knew where it led. All they knew was it was the only way out and they had to move fast! Derrick was first to open the door and peer on the other side. It was just a long hallway, leading to a set of stairs at the end. They followed Derrick down the hall and up the stairs. At the top was yet another door that opened from above their heads, as if they were in an old cellar.

Derrick grabbed on to the door knob that rested above their heads and with the help of Jeremy and John, two other students who went to the same bus stop as Tonya and Libby, they managed to force the door open. They then climbed out of the basement and found themselves in the middle of an old, run-down greenhouse. "Now's our chance", said Derrick. "follow me."

They followed him out of the greenhouse and to the side of the house they were being held captive in. "What are you doing?", said Libby. "You're going to get us killed! There's a whole area of woods back there, we can just go that way. If we go this way and he comes back, he'll see us and who knows what will happen?!", she argued.

"We have to go this way! It's the only way back to the bus and we can take it and he won't be able to catch us then. The bus is his transportation too!"  "But what if HE took the bus?!", asked Tonya, beginning to agree with her best friend. "Then, we'll hide, wait for him to come back, and jump on it when he goes back up to the house." We'll have plenty of time to hot-wire it and go by the time he realizes we're gone and tries to find us."

"I don't really know how to hot-wire a bus, dude. Just a car", replied Jeremy, assuming that Derrick were referring to him about hot-wiring. "A car's a car. It's just a bigger one! We'll figure it out!"

With that, they all started down the hill and headed back to where the bus was parked. It wasn't long until they came to the opening where the bus had been and it was clear that Logan had taken it. "Where are we supposed to hide?", asked Libby. "There's nothing here!" Derrick looked around and saw an old portable bathroom in the distance.

"No way are we going to all fit in there", Tonya said, following Derrick's gaze. "We don't have a choice!", shouted Derrick. "Now, come on!" With that, they knew they had no other choice but cram into the disgusting port-o-potty. They ran across the dirt road and began jumping in, one by one. Derrick and Tonya were still standing outside when they heard a loud vehicle coming their way. Assuming it was Logan returning with the bus, they quickly jumped in.

They had to lean back and lock the door to keep it from bursting open on them and falling out onto dirt road. "Quiet!", Derrick commanded. "Don't move! If he hears us or sees us, we're all dead with no way out." They all remained perfectly still as Derrick peered out the small opening to see Logan returning to the same spot with the school bus. He jumped out of the bus and started up the hill. "I think he left the keys", Derrick whispered. "He didn't have time to take them out, I don't think."

Just then, Logan stopped dead in his tracks and turned around, as if he heard something coming from behind him. His eyes met the bathroom and he stood there just watching it and waiting for something to happen. He decided to shrug it off, thinking his imagination must be going crazy. After all, they couldn't have escaped. There was no way out of the basement, he'd made sure of that. Just in case, he thought, he went back to the bus and pulled the keys out of the ignition.

Derrick held his breath, knowing what Logan had done but kept quiet to keep the others from panicking further. Logan started up the hill again, keys in hand and once he was out of sight, Derrick leaned back and tried to unlock the bathroom door.

"It's stuck!", he shouted. "Move back some more! I can't get it to budge." They all leaned back as far as they could and much to their dismay, all the weight shifting at the back was too much for the bathroom to handle. It tipped over backwards, sending all of them flying on top of each other and the gross layers of fecies tumbling all over them. They had to get out now.

"If he comes back down the hill and sees this thing tipped over, he's gonna know where we are! We gotta get out now!", Derrick shouted above the commotion. "QUIET!", he screamed. We've gotta get outta here before he comes out so just focus!"

He stood on the side of the portable bathroom and unlocked the door. One by one, they climbed out of the potty until they were all free. "There's not much time!", Derrick shouted. "Get on the bus!!" They all ran to the bus and climbed on as Derrick and Jeremy worked frantically trying to hot-wire it.

"LOOK!", shouted Laurie. They all looked up in time to see Logan making his way back down the hillside, gun in hand, running to the bus. "Try it now!", Jeremy shouted. "Allright.", responded Derrick. Jeremy put the wires together and with that, the bus started up. "Put it in reverse, he's almost down the hill!", shouted Jeremy frantically. Derrick put the bus in reverse and began backing out, speeding faster than he ever had in such a large vehicle.

By the time he got the bus turned around and started driving forward, Logan was quickly on their tails, running full-speed towards the bus and drawing his gun. "MOVE TO THE FRONT AND GET DOWN!", Derrick ordered the students. They gathered to the front and tried to lay down in the seats as Logan shot at the windows, breaking a few and hitting Jeremy in the back. "Keep going!", Jeremy ordered Derrick.

He continued full speed, hearing one of the tires get shot. Once out of range, he turned back to check on Jeremy. "I'm ok, just keep going!", he ordered, clutching his stomach as blood poured out from his back and stomach. The bullet had gone straight through and pierced the front window of the bus, becoming lodged. The tires were seemingly unafftected by the bullet that they thought went through it and they continued on.

"Where should we go?", asked Tonya. "The hospital!", shouted Natalie who was at her brother's side, holding him tightly in her arms as his blood stained her clothes. "That's where we're going. Don't worry. We'll make it. I'm just trying to remember which way he went when he drove us to school this morning.", replied Derrick. The sun was already going down and it was becoming more and more dark.

As he went on, he found a sign pointing to the interstate and quickly got on. "We're losing him!", shouted Natalie. Laurie rushed over to her friend's side and tried calming her and Jeremy down. "It's okay, Jeremy. Just hang on. We can't lose you too. We've already lost Ben. He wouldn't want this!" "There's a sign pointing to a hospital! I'm getting off here!", Derrick shouted.

He pulled into the hospital and together, they helped their friend inside who was barely holding on to his life. After hours waiting to hear how her brother was doing, the doctor came out of the room with news. "I'm so sorry, Natalie.", he began. "We lost him."
