"What does he want with us?", Tonya asked Mr. Clemmons about his twin brother. "I wish I knew", he answered. "Revenge! He said he wanted revenge because some guy stole his girlfriend!", Derrick chimed in. "What?!", Mr. Clemmons began angrily. "That's what this is about?!", he asked in a tone that told them all that he knew exactly what had his brother so angry.

"What's going on?", asked Layla, looking into her bus driver's eyes. "She was never his girlfriend", began Mr. Clemmons. "I never even knew he had those feelings for her until after I married Emily. We always thought it was an innocent crush that would go away." "Yeah, well it doesn't look like it, huh?", Derrick said angrily. "We gotta get outta here!"

Derrick was right and they all knew it. They had to find a way to escape, but how? There were no windows in this basement and barely even light. One lightbulb that hung from the ceiling was all they had to see around this damp, lonely, and scary basement. "Our parents will come looking for us. When we don't show up at school, they'll know something's wrong and come looking for us.", Libby said who up until this point, had been quiet.

"What good will that do us if we're all dead when they find us? They won't know where to look and they'll probably be looking for Mr. Clemmons!", Derrick said. "He's right.", Mr. Clemmons said. "They'll be looking for me. My bus, my route, my no-show. He knew exactly what he was doing. He does the crime, frames me, and I take the fall." "We're not going to let that happen.", Tonya said. "We'll tell them the truth!" "How are you going to do that if you're six feet under?", Derrick asked. "Look, it's obvious he HAS to kill us all to frame Mr. Clemmons so what we need to do is get the hell outta here while we still have a chance and freakazoid is M.I.A."

Just then, they heard noises coming from the upstairs. He had come back, but for what? To kill them all? They didn't know and they didn't want to wait to find out. They all jumped up and began searching the room for a way to escape. He was fiddling with the lock, they could hear from the dusty basement. The door swung open and their morning driver threw a loaf of bread and 2 liter bottle of dirty water down the bottom of the stairs.

He was planning to keep them there. But for how long and were they ever going to be found? Could they find a way to escape before they all ended up dead? He stood at the top of the stairs for what seemed like an eternity before finally speaking. "Come to the bottom of the stairs, everyone NOW!", he ordered. They all gathered at the foot of the stairs, wondering what he had next in store for them. "I want you, you and.... YOU!", he said, pointing at Layla, Sophie, and and Libby. "Come up here NOW! Noone had better follow them or I'll shoot on sight", he commanded, waving his black gun in the air.

They marched, trudgingly up the stairs, awaiting their fate. All Tonya could do was watch her best friend slowly ascend the tall staircase and pray that she would come back alive. Chances are though, she wouldn't and there was nothing Tonya or any of them could do to save their friends. What would he do with them and why did he only want girls and not guys. Was he going to rape them? Tonya began to frantically worry about her best friend and nearly went after her, but knew that he would shoot her if she even dared go up the stairs. A tear fell down the side of her face as she stood, watching the basement door close from behind her best friend.
