LATERRRR. NiNE WH0LE M0NTHS LATER. =]]]

Kris

She awoke once more to the sound of Beth's hushed crying.

She was getting used to it. Each morning, it happened. And each morning, Kris knew with certainty that she was dreaming of Owen.

But life was going on. And life was good. The previous week, she and Beth had gone to the mall and Beth had met a guy that Kris knew with certainty would be good for her.

And in two days, it was Kris and Tobin's wedding day.

She was so excited. Her heart raced each time she thought of it. She glanced across the room at the silken white dress--

"Kris!" Beth was crying out in agony. "Kris!"

Kris leapt up, startled by the pain evident in her voice. "I'm coming, Beth! I'm coming!" As she entered her room, she saw that Beth was writhing on the bed.

"The baby--" Beth gasped. "It's coming."

Beth

The pain--oh the pain.

She cried out once more, clutching her stomach, as Kris raced her to the hospital. Glancing in the rearview mirror, she saw flashing lights behind them.

"Shit." Kris said angrily. "I'm not stopping. I don't care what they do to me, I'm not stopping."

Beth didn't care, she couldn't. The agony was all she could focus on--the pain--the baby was coming any minute now, she knew it--

Kris whipped into the hospital parking lot, the police car right behind her. As she jumped out, helping Beth into the building, she shouted behind her, "My friend's having a baby, get the hell away from me!"

Beth burst out laughing at the expression on the officer's face--affronted, shocked, and wondering. Kris ignored it. She raced into the emergency room.

"She's having a baby!" Kris shouted at the top of her lungs. Heads all over the hospital turned their way as a doctor ran towards them.

"We need a stretcher!" he shouted. "God, you took your time coming here. How long has she been in labor?"

"Not that long--" Kris began, but Beth cut her off.

"Hours."

She could feel Kris staring at her, but she just grimaced as a nurse ran across the room pushing a stretcher. The doctor helped Beth onto it and wheeled her away.

And the pain--oh the pain.

Later...

"One more push!" the doctor shouted, his face flushed and his eyes wide.

Beth screamed as she pushed as hard as she could.

"Here's the head!" the doctor yelled. "Oh, my God, this is a gorgeous baby--it has a full head of hair--"

"What color?" Beth grunted, panting, moaning.

"Brown," the doctor told her. "Curly and brown."

She smiled, but it quickly turned into a grimace as she screamed one last push.

"It's here," the doctor said quietly, a smile lighting up his lined face. "It's here. You did it."

And as he laid her baby, pink-cheeked, brown-haired, and beautiful, into her waiting arms, she knew deep as blood that this was what had been meant for her all along.

Tobin

The grass was green, the sky was a dazzling blue, and an angel in white was making her way towards him.

The crowd rose in a blur of color; faces turned to gaze upon the girl that he loved; and he waited, hand outstretched, for her to join him at his side.

The priest began to drone, but all he could concentrate on was this majestic, gorgeous girl in front of him.

And he couldn't wait for the priest to give him permission. He drew her to him and kissed her, with everything he had, with all the love he had ever possessed--

"Well." The priest sounded amused. "I guess you may kiss the bride."

Laughter rippled through the crowd, but Tobin didn't care. As he pressed his lips to Kris's, the only thing he could think was, I love you, I love you, I love you...

You're my wife.

So I hope you liked this story. =]] I felt like it had to end...Read Broken Silhouettes and I MIGHT get a new one up soon, or I might just concentrate on BS. Ha. BS. =]] Anyway. I love you all! ~Jen
