Tobin

He stared at the caller ID. Beth was calling him back? What was she going to do, tell him that she was trying to get him arrested?

He flipped open his phone and put it to his ear. "What do you want?"

"There's something I need to tell you." She sounded angry. He stiffened.

"What?" he said coldly.

"You almost killed our baby."

"What?"

"When you pushed me off your lap!" she yelled. "It might not live! And if it does live, it's going to be retarded!"

"That can't be my fault!" he shouted. "It just happened today!"

She was quiet for a long moment. Finally she said softly, "I've changed my mind about everything. I don't want anything to do with you anymore. I'm not pressing charges, I'm not doing anything, and most of all, I am not having this baby."

"You're what?" he gasped.

"I," she said clearly, "am aborting this baby."

Kris

When she opened her eyes and glanced over at the couch, she immediately wished she hadn't.

Nick lay there, watching her. And now that he had seen that she was awake, she knew he wouldn't leave her alone. Sure enough, he stood and approached her bed, laying next to her.

"Hi, Kris."

"Hello. What are you still doing here?"

"I didn't want to leave on a bad note," he said softly. "I wanted to tell you that I'm sorry that I hurt you."

She flinched. "I'm sorry, too, Nick, but for this reason: that doesn't change anything. I can't be with you."

"Why not?" She didn't answer. When she glanced up at him, he was watching her intently. "You still love Tobin, don't you?" he asked her softly.

"Yes," she burst, a lone tear forging its path down her cheek. "I miss him so much."

Nick pulled his phone out of his pocket.

"What are you doing?" she said frantically.

"I'm calling Tobin," he said softly. "I'm doing for him what he once did for me."

Sorry it's so short...I just felt like I had to get something up. I know it's stupid and so on and so forth...but whatever. I'll try to put some more up tomorrow, and if not, definitely later this week. Loves! ~ Jen
